Really good call on suggesting to recess the locking button - possibly also make it shorter? That particular design coming unlocked in your hand during hard use would SUCK. Right handed icepick grip seems less likely to accidentally unlock, especially if you are using your thumb for support on the butt end/finger ring end of the knife for bladed punctures (This is what I have seen Kali practitioners do at times.) It seems designed for icepick grip rather than hammer grip. Also a more pointed knuckle ring might be something people would want in a self defence knife? As a self defence tool, the karambit has functions not just in attacking but in blocking and/or trapping and this function also requires an icepick grip. I think design compromises on a folder would have to be made for a karambit that can easily be used in either grip AND fold AND button lock. It's an interesting design challenge.
The way the karambit is set up you can reverse the button on the karambit. You will notice it has a screw on the other side of the karambit which allows you to do that.

I have the CRKT Provoke. Deploys in one motion vs the 2 motions that this knife requires. However, this is a fun looking fidget gadget. I'll get one whenever they are back in stock. Currently everyone is out of stock.
This is just my 2 cents, but I don’t completely understand how this could be considered a gravity knife. It take more than 1 motion to fully deploy. That alone sets it apart in my opinion. I loosen the screws on my folding knives so I can flick them open with 1 hand anyhow. What’s the difference? Someone please educate me. Also, where do I buy this?

Just got one of these today and had to come watch this video again to make sure I was opening it correctly. It's very fast and easy once you know how, but definitely not intuitive. This is not a knife you would want to hand to someone without a fair bit of instruction. I did manage to cut myself very slightly on the close. You can still swing the mechanism down with the blade not fully tucked in. I've found that I have to make a conscious effort to make sure it's fully in position before swinging it closed. Lastly, if you intend to carry it in a right handed pocket, you absolutly have to switch the clip around. I'm not sure why it comes the way it does, the vast majority of people are right handed. I know that can be an irritant for the more sinister among us, but it's true. Why put the clip on in such a way that most users will need to change it?
Just wanted to say that knife steel can definitely make a difference in a self defense situation 😉.. Yes you can use just about anything but it's very easy to break a blade if you come in contact with a bone
I am not formally trained in karambits but I know that you flip it around to get into different grips. The opening mechanism might intimidate an opponent but it's not as practical as the standard fixed blade version. It's cool and fun to play with but as an actual self defense knife I can see the complex locking system misfiring or failing to deploy in time. I do own a fixed blade karambit from TFW if you want me to send it to you just as a comparison piece. It's double edged too, something most folder karambits don't do because then it would be an open blade inside of your pocket. But having two edges on the karambit blade makes it more effective in a fight since you can do reverse cuts, false edge slashing and change up your slash angles more frequently. But this karambit is cool, I just think it may be more of a novelty piece than a legitimate self defense knife.

Does version with s30v or s35vn are better then spy27? Could u tell me wich one steel will be best edge retention corrosion resistant and so on.
They are actually pretty similar, I'm not 100% on which one would win in edge retention because it's very close, however you can find some cut tests online if you want an idea of how much it will cut

Nice , but scary ...like others have said. Glad this is still basically a prototype , they need to fix flaws. It would be quite unfortunate to be put in a situation , where you actually had to use to defend yourself and instead are taken to ER for nasty gash you inflicted upon yourself.
I commented once... I complained about the color.... but after watching the entire 20 min video..... he is honest... knolegable.... and... honest..... so. I recommend.... (But pick a better color...)

It's not really a new design. The Fred Perrin Tri-Folder works the same way.

I like my crkt provoke ( not a edc knife) a bit more but I love this unique design
