    Best Mazdaspeed community that's not a toxic waste dump. Got great info on old forums and very active fb groups. Super easy to modify and repair, they were ranked the best handling car even beating out the integra type r. The community is a what keeps me to the platform as well as how these drive. Great little car

      I can amagine speed protege guys being really good guys, since they really care about a car that they find fun to drive, instead of trying to find the fastest car to impress their mates etc, and yeah these cars are suprisingly incredibly good, before I knew much about them, I never suspected they were anywhere near this good

      The engine block for these cars where stock 2.0l that where never built for boost, that was this cars biggest downfall. However, when built properly with aftermarket support, which there is plenty of for this car, can make a decent 400+ bhp, which for this car is just what you need to shoot past maybe a stock Ford Mustang or catch a few hellcats by surprise! 😎

    • @LifeOfTuners

    Actually, there are 2 and a half model years. 2002, 2003, and 2003.5. The 2003.5 had slight changes made to the appearance changing from the the low rise, flat top wing and equipped with fog lights, to the hoop evo-style wing, sans fog lights. You only ever show the 03.5 model.
    Also, the dealership ECU re-tune was more about fuel economy than the hesitation, although it was prescribed for both. Fun fact - on turbocharged cars it's better to be rich than lean, and there is no way of checking if your ECU has the lean tune which can lead to zoom zoom BOOM as soon as you try to mod.
    The engine is the weak point because it is the stock eternal econo-motor that was sent off to Callaway to be fitted with the slurpy snail. Rods are literally as thick as 2 pencils taped together.

      Hmmmm I think it's quite possible.
      With mazdaspeed 3/6s it uses an L series engine, and another L series block, (the 2.5 block) fits on the mazdaspeed 2.3 head.
      So I reckon it is probable that other f series engine blocks would fit 🤔

    • @iamsoldats
      @iamsoldats 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any 2.0 FS Protege engine will fit, but you must remember to swap over the oil cooler from the old engine (it’s under the oil filter) and swap over the sandwich plate between the block and oil pan for the oil return line from the turbocharger. I personally used an engine from an 02 auto P5 when I needed to swap my engine.
