  • Day Two, Panel One: "Spectral Labor and Unpayable Debt"
    What will a post-pandemic future economy look like if viewed through a contemporary archaeology of labor? Focusing on ghostly economies-not the invisible, offshore or black economy of finance capital but those which exist as monstrous appendages of the everyday-this trajectory considers the infrastructures implied by the ghosts of the work that will be rendered obsolete, automated, and de-functionalized, and also those within the new modes of dwelling and living off the surplus population. These concerns intersect with Ferreira da Silva’s forthcoming book, Unpayable Debt (Sternberg Press, 2021), which apprehends these modes and conditions through a “poethical” lens, and weaves together structures of raciality and coloniality with the machinations of global capital.
    Features American Sign Language interpretation.
    Speakers
    Stefano Harney, author and researcher, Royal Holloway, University of London;
    Massimiliano Mollona, writer, filmmaker, and anthropologist, and Senior Lecturer, Goldsmiths College, University of London;
    Denise Ferreira da Silva, Professor and Director of the Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

    Mumbo jumbo...
    Professors do more professing than producing.
    And they always seen to be better off than the ones they say they fight for.
    Instead of telling how they got where they are in the oppressive system (for others) and spreading teaching that.. they point to and say "that's what's keeping you down".
    Doesn't keep them down but they can "sympathize" but will never sacrifice their position or rock their boat.
    All I heard was big words and accolation. So the ones they are fighting for couldn't even relate to what they're saying. But don't worry they working on your behalf. Minus sacrifice or investment.
    Unless sitting on your ass and blowing hot air out of both ends is what gets shit done. How many farts has their chairs had to absolve while they contemplate their grand IDEAS/ IDEALS.
