Basically our retirement funds invested here and the dividend will be shared by the end of the year . Battersea is our pride and we hope londoners will enjoy the place ❤️

Wow....this was very impressive indeed. Amazing how they have managed to integrate the new with the old so well. Thank you for taking us along Hannah. I found it very interesting and appreciate the fact that you navigated your way so well and even skipped lunch just for us! Busy busy busy...but understandable. The 109 lift experience also looks very cool. Sending you warm regards from South Africa. PS: I liked that scarf!!!

Great video thanks. Yep. Over 40 years. I was there in 1987 on my second tunnelling project in London navigating a tunnel machine going from just next to the power station to Park Lane, then Regents Park. Aged 22 then! Before you were born! The recent Tideway project was tunnelled from here as well as the Northern Line Extension. Part of what held the project up was getting planning permission for the Northern Line Extension providing a transport link.
I also worked on a gas supply tunnel from Chelsea under the River Thames which was to supply the flats etc. So I keep being drawn back!
Anyway in 1987, before health & safety was as important as it is now- they let us have a look round inside after it was decommissioned. Incredible structure. I think it was a japanese consortium then who were interested in developing the area but the property crash of the late 80's and 3 million unemployed put paid to that!
Lots of stories I could tell about the works then but too much to put here. The old cranes on the quayside that unloaded the coal will return! Being refurbished.
After we finished the tunnel I was on in 1990 -it was off to the Channel Tunnel design team!

Hi Hannah! Omg I remember that run down power station! My husband and I visited London several times between 2005 -2012 & always stayed in the Pimlico area. I recall seeing that station and thinking how very sad it looked. Well now it's just amazing & I can't wait to see it in person one day! So glad they transformed it into something useful and more beautiful than what it was. I'm sure through the years both the shopping center and surrounding areas will only continue to get better. 😉 Thanks for showing & taking us along. Much love from Fort Worth, Texas! 😊🌻🍁

Looks amazing Hannah, too think Battersea was always known as the poor man's Chelsea.
    what a turn around.
I remember over 20 years ago having a boot sale in the old wasteland next to the Power Station and people were doing Bungee jumps.
    What's £9 Billion amongst friends.
Those flat prices were off the Charts.
I can never understand how in today's climate people can afford to buy them.
Chelsea bridge looked in a shocking state,
I am surprised they have let it hetnthis bad.
Look forward to your next stream
Have a nice weekend Hannah and a good week.

Hello Hannah! American here…marathoning your vids…you & your sis…so cute at the teas! I’m a big fan of all things British….I watch a LOT of British produced shows…mostly the older ones, bc that’s what we get on YT. I also watch a lot of art & creative vids (I’m an artist) & travel/sightseeing vids. I’ve lately gotten into watching the Sherlock Holmes TV series w/Jeremy Brett that was produced for 10 years from 1984 - 1994 (and shown during that time on PBS in the US.) He WAS, no doubt, the quintessential Sherlock. Love Mr. Cumberbatch, but I understand that Brett lived & breathed his character, and it shows. I also love the old black & white SH movies with Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce 👍. What caught my eye here was that you are in Battersea and that reminds me of the“Landscape Artist of the Year” show shot at The Battersea Arts Centre and produced by Sky Arts network (they also produce “Landscape Artist of the Year, that’s probably my fave bc they go to some of the most iconic and beautiful locations in the UK for the painters to paint. Great show if you’re into art. Enjoying the heck out of your vlogs. You’re fun and energetic. I came to London over 20 years ago (in 2000) with the church choir I was in at the time. Our director arranged for us to sing at some of your glorious historic cathedrals (Canterbury is the only name I recall,) It was an incredible experience 🤩and then we had time to take in some of the big sites/museums and we also did a tour of Leeds Castle…fantastic! Maybe one of these days I’ll get back there…I hope so! 😄

I'm 50, I grew up in Battersea, visited the power station just after it was decommissioned , on a school trip...
I then did my GCSE Geography project ( first year of GCSE examinations) on the planned conversion of the power station to housing....so to say it took a while is an understatement. And yes Battersea was rough in the 70's and 80's , bits of it still are.

In the USA we’ve lost a lot of malls due to Amazon but I hear a lot of people not happy with them now and my local mall was dying but when I go there I see more and more people going back. Hi Hannah,
Great video nicely capturing the atmosphere in the new Battersea Power Station shopping mall. I haven’t been there since it was opened, but I think a walk from Sloane Square would be quite a pleasant approach to the area. I’m not so keen on the approach from Vauxhall, but to link it with Chelsea in my minds eye works for me. Of course when it was a grotty old power station, Chelsea didn’t want to be associated with it, but now things are different.
It’s amazing to think of all that coal being delivered every hour, every day of the week from the coal mines in the northeast and Wales. It did have a magic then, thinking of all the power it was sending across London.

Amazing Hannah!I loved it! And what a gorgeous and huge shopping center! I like very much these shopping centers architecture made of bricks. It has been a "trend" to transform old factories and huge depots into shopping centers! Great video Hannah! Thanks so much for taking us the new Battersea. My experience with it was only through the 77 album cover, Pink Floyd's Animals. That scarf was really similar to the one (at least the colors) you were trying on at the Mango in last week's video. So glad you got it. BTW... the activity that guy was doing with the metal detecting (1:39) on the Thames is called Mudlarking. I seen it on a "Joolz Guide" video (another youtuber). And its quite amazing what they find... coins from Roman times up to present day, bit of pottery, debris from the industry that used to line the Thames during the 1700 and 1800s, as well as little bits and bobs (old combs, laundry pins, etc etc). 'Til next time!

Wow! What a great transformation of this Art Deco building, will definitely have to visit. Nice to hear a little clip of The Final Countdown done by the performers 🙂 just by coincidence Europe the band filmed their music video for their song "Open Your Heart" in Battersea Power Station. Thanks again for the tour Hannah.👍

Oh I can't wait! It looks amazing! I read somewhere that the apartments that have the chimney stacks actually have fireplaces in them. I don't know if that's true or not but I think it would look pretty funky watching smoke come out of those!
Oh and I need those two skirts!

Great vlog Hannah, great content you're our correspondent in London! Love what they have done with Battersea, it's a super interesting and intriguing place. Some of the old proposals/designs would have dated quite badly, glad they went with that they did. The control room looks super cool can't wait to see it (no rush though).

Another fantastic vlog Hannah and this is one I have been waiting for. I walked around that area last November and it was very quiet, the jetty looked miserable because of the time of year it will look amazing in the summer. I was too late to be there for the grand opening, I flew back to Aberdeen two weeks before hand , I am a subscriber to the Battersea newsletter and I will be making a point to spend some time there when I am hopefully back next March as I have a concert at The Royal Albert Hall already paid for. I will be making sure I have a booking for Lift 109 and I will book a meal there too probably at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant if it's open by then , hopefully it's as good as the Harrods one ! Superb video thank you for making it !

Yaaay Hannah you went!!!! I was there this week also. Bit disappointing that half the shops and restaurants weren't open yet. The Zara there was like a designer store. They said it's the biggest Zara in the world. You'll have to return when one of the chimneys will be opened as a viewing platform. Would you consider living there? Wow the colour of your eyes at the end of the video is so beautiful.

Your videos are so good - It is like being on a walking tour with you (You are the guide holding a sign in the air:)). Seriously, this was amazing to see. My memory was the horrible old derelict building but great to see what they have or have not done inside is amazing, keeping so much of the old use, the space is mind blowing.

Thought this was fascinating. I had no idea this was being refurbished - amazing the way the old is integrated with the new. We used to come up to Battersea Fun Fair when I was growing up, (from Kent) and remember seeing the power station. I agree, it will be fascinating to see how many of these high end stores are still in business a year from now. Can't believe the number of people that were there. Thank you so much for taking us along!

Wow Hannah! The Battersea Power Station ... what an epic project! The amount of bricks in the structure boggles my mind. They seem to have made some correct decisions, though, and eventually got it sorted out good and proper. There must be a place for the residents to access fresh produce. Is there a farmer's market located nearby? I like the surreal vibe of the place. And what appears an homage to Marcel Duchamp's Large Glass hanging from the ceiling is cool. The prices though .... a million pounds+ for a bachelor? How does that compare with other areas of London? It was really fun to tour the place through your eyes Hannah! Definitely a sight to take in as a tourist in London. As always love.

@Tracy Or, Tracy, looking at matters from a different perspective and turning the thing upside down ... The actual value of a dwelling or home remains the same. A place to live. In fact, it's the currency units which have become of lesser value. Inflationary forces are impelling those with excess currency to invest in real, tangible assets whose "value" will erode less in the current economic environment .... until governments and central bankers figure out what to do about the "hot" inflation rate most of us are experiencing ... At that point real estate may be denominated in fewer currency units, but those currency units may become "rarer" and more difficult to obtain. Sounds like the complex was very expensive to build and may have been financed at previously existing, artificially induced, ultra low interest rates.

Since I discovered Pink Floyd’s “Animals” I was obsessed with this structure. When I visited London in 2010 I had to peak through wooden fencing in order to see it close up. I can’t wait to visit London again and see this new development! x

Wow! Maybe you can go back sometime, there’s so much there and more to come so definitely another video of material. It’s so good that they kept so much original material and equipment and that there’s placards telling the history. Even though it’s across the river 😊 tourists will likely want to go; I know I would. Just to see. That scarf from Mango is lovely! Hope the rest of your day was good and you got something to eat! Thanks for sharing, Hannah!

Great tour! I can see this (and Tate Modern) from my home and walk past most weeks with my friend but haven't been inside yet so great to have a sneak peek. We often sit on the Coaling Jetty and eat lunch which has spectacular views of Vauxhall and the river. I'm actually surprised there are properties there for as little as £1m! I'm sure they are the ones with no view and tiny but still... I love living in London! There is so much to see and do even if you have little cash. I had no idea Batman and Superman had scenes there! I know so much more about this place now. I think I'll go and visit this Sunday 🤠

Victoria Station is the London Terminus for the railway into London from where I reside - so it is really interesting to see how this area has changed so much over the years.
Not wanting to make a public service announcement of myself but the rail enthusiast in me cannot resist - if you are going from Victoria to Gatwick - use the Southern trains - they are much cheaper (and if you are lucky sometimes have more comfortable seats than the red trains). Yes can be more crowded as a result - but let's face it - cost of living point and all that - and the journey time is only a few minutes longer with the stops at Clapham and Croydon. The irony is that both Southern and Gatwick Express have the same parent company.....
I have no idea how Mr Algor's Rhythm suggested this video to me, or this channel I suppose for that matter - but I'm jolly glad it has ! Always a pleasure to discover content from a fellow Brit whom is very well spoken I must say and whom is not afraid to state things like "Chelsea Bridge looking a bit of a state", and similar!
I can certainly recommend taking the Ferries that TFL run along the Thames - which you can indeed use the Pay as you Go Oyster smartcards on. It is more pricey than the Underground or Buses be aware but it is certainly a unique view and enormous fun - especially at the Greenwich end where the cats can go faster if the visibility is good! Battersea Pier is the western end of Ferry Routes RB1 and RB2. RB1 has just been extended further East after Woolwich to Barking Riverside, another development area! So that means the full route will be quite something! Oh, and you can get drinks / snacks on the Ferry, though alas they do know how to charge for these. Last time I did it, way before the virus, it was Costa doing it, called that of course because it Costa-lot of money....
