When you had issues attempting tricks, i would have been happy to go over it with you for example floor boundaries. Puffy Blowhog is easy to do 1x A by a human, BLL can probably be done 10xA with enough patience. You can do CR 0x by luring a water dumple outside it's threat range, then killing it next to the wall. It's pretty easy too.

I've seen a single pikmin do nearly a quarter of beady's health, but you have to get lucky with the pikmin hanging on through multiple shake attempts really cool challenge though! and really clever ways of handling it!
You can actually make yellow pikmin drop bombs without throwing them. Dismiess them near the wall and call them back with a quick tap of B. If you hold B, they will keep their bombs, but if you tap B, they will drop them.
testing on GC, I can't get them to drop a bomb while dismissed. You can get them to drop if they've been thrown and holding position, but even when near a wall a dismissed bomb won't drop on a short whistle.
I never knew blue pikmin would attempt to save drowning pikmin. This was only because I dreaded bringing any non-blue pikmin near bodies of water; drowning pikmin is a dreadful sound…
One small addition id like to recommend; maybe add a little “demo” marker or something similar when using footage from outside the run? Not strictly necessary, but can make it clearer when you’re just explaining/demonstrating something
I don't know if I'm misremembering but I'm pretty sure there's a glitch to beat beady long legs with just one throw if you get the pikmin on him before the falling animation has completed, which makes the pikmin unshakeable.
You could probably save a throw in the armored cannon beetle fight by luring a sheargrub into the arena to set off some yellow Pickman with bomb rocks (to defeat it in one cycle)
Great video! I love seeing Pikmin challenge runs like this. Depending on what you count as "beating" the game, you could still get the Average ending without the three throws in the final trial, since the secret safe isn't required for this ending. The good ending is definitely more interesting and compelling though.
If it was a lot of throws I probably would have skipped it but I figured 3 was tolerable. Also I thought doing the rest of the trial without throws was interesting enough to show off.
It doesn't tell you in the controls anywhere. It's one of those fun easter egg things where if you happen to press down on the d-pad which is used no where else in game you'd find out about it. While laying down your pikmin will pick you up and carry you back to the onion as well. I think Olimar can't be damaged by enemies either while laying down.

For the beady fight I could swear I once saw a tas or speedrun that beats him with one pikmin. It uses camera tricks and timed whistling but I don't know how it works or find the video I saw it in.
@@pressaTD The blowhog in DS for the IR is not TAS only. If you lure it to the island which is at the limits of its wander range, you can throw a single on and it won't shake or blow.

Beady Longlegs has a coding to check for pikmin on it's body when all four legs are in a perfect square and if it detects one, it shakes. This means you MUST get a pikmin on it the moment AFTER it has "rested" and is starting a new walk sequence for maximum damage. This could feasibly cut down the number of throws.

While it didn’t effect the run, you can throw several less Pikmin at the yellow candypop bud in the distant spring if you stand at the highest point of the shore. But this may only work on the Wii/Switch versions idk.
Idk if this is only HD (Switch) version of pikmin 1 but my beady long legs had put his head all the way to the ground and a little clipped inside in which I could use the C-Stick to swarm him.
You might be able to damage beady throw less by crushing Pikmin with bomb rocks using beady then having it do that lowering animation to get in range of the explosion. It would take some ai manipulation but it might work
I don't remember exactly how But I swear there is another way to detonate the bombs... I think it involves pressing x to dismiss the pikmin into groups Then when you whistle, the yellows drop the bombs You may need at least 2 colors I don't remember the exact method... I just remember having to re start multiple days as a kid because my yellows were so eager to detonate when I didn't want them to

Running around its feet can change its behavior when it comes to trying to shake off pikmin, but RNG/luck is also a thing. Can definitely be done with TAS, though! Armored Cannon Beetle can be reduced to one throw and Puffy Blowhog POSSIBLY to zero throws if you lure Shearwigs over to yellow pikmin holding bomb rocks I haven't heard of anything else that might work to improve this, but subtracting 27 from your already impressively low number is nothing to shake a stick at
Pikmin WILL drop Bombs if you let them sit somewhere and then Wistle them to you. That show i lost a whole Squad of yellows in the cave after they climbed up a stick with bombs.
Only 25 ship pieces are necessary, so you can beat the game without ANY throws. (edit: I'm wrong lol, specific parts (that are not the throw necessary ones) are the ones not required)

here's an idea: pikmin but each pikmin death equals you rolling back a major dolphin version I'm interested to see how inaccurate it gets as it goes along
you can hit the feet in pikmin 1 however it only slows down the legs if you have enough on them ( i swear its possible that it cant lift the leg off the ground). No damage is done. However i do believe that attacking the legs also weighs down the head, but i cant tell if bomb rocks can even damage it.
While doing some research on the Beady Long Legs, I found an interesting fact: it can crash your game! It can sometimes leave it's arena, fall out of bounds, and cause the game to crash. However, in Pikmin 2, to prevent this issue, any enemy that falls through the map dies instantly, and drops anything it was carrying on the ground above it. Which may come in handy if you intend to try any challenges of that game.

The ground probably has collision out of bounds because you can (and sometimes are supposed to) throw pikmin there.

It’s only certain parts though, the 5 that aren’t mandatory don’t require any throws so it doesn’t change anything.
