This is a great point. Last time I wear a tampon to bed I set an alarm to wake me up to remove it so it wouldn't be in longer than it should be. The best thing is to just wear a pad.
@@emilykane5234 you can get toxic shock syndrome from a pad too. It’s about the bacteria. And it’s extremely rare to get toxic shock syndrome anyways (even from tampons)

Right now I have no other choice but to use pads and tampons because I don't have the patience to keep trying with a menstrual cup. I'll most definitely keep your insight in mind next time. @@emilykane5234 you can get toxic shock syndrome from the menstrual cups too, and even men and children can get it. It’s just VERY rare and the reason it’s associated with tampons is because back when tampons were first created it was a more common side effect but they changed the way they make tampons now. If you change your pad or tampon regularly (don’t leave it in for more than 8hrs MAX) then you won’t get toxic shock syndrome. It’s just a build up of bacteria that causes it so if you stay clean, you are completely fine and likely won’t get it no matter what you use. It’s EXTREMELY rare so if you accidentally leave a tampon or pad in for a few extra hours you should be fine. In most cases it takes at least 24 hours of leaving a pad/tampon in to get toxic shock syndrome and even then it’s still super rare.
