- The investigation continues into why Miami Dolphins' five-time All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill was detained by Miami-Dade police hours before the team's home opener at Hard Rock Stadium against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Passerbys recorded the interaction between Hill and the officers. Miami-Dade Police Department Director Stephanie Daniels told a Miami Herald reporter in a brief interview that body-camera footage from the roadside detention, which has not been publicly released yet, led to temporarily transferring one of the officers to administrative duties, she said Monday morning.
The county's police department declined to release the body-cam footage, citing the ongoing investigation into the incident.
After Sunday's game, Hill spoke about this disturbing incident.

The first cop mistake was his attitude. Banging on the car window was wrong. No courtesy. It’s not a felony stop. It was a traffic violation. The cop didn’t like that it was a black man in an expensive vehicle. These Miami cops have a history. See: Politico News story for details.

I live in Miami my parents are Cuban and I am also black as well. So I could be wrong but this is nothing new in terms of the core feelings of some Hispanic officers that subscribe to the status quo of Patriarchy even if your status or class is in a professional position in a sport. You’re still considered as the “OTHER” and what I see here on video is a lot of Resentment, Rage and Racism on the part of the officers.

It seemed like Hill escalated the situation to me. He was the one breaking the law in the first place. Then he was totally disrespectful to the Police. I've gotten pulled over numerous times for breaking the law. Every time I was respectful to the law enforcement and I was on my way in about 10 minutes or less without an issue 🤷
Everyone knows the officers felt disrespected by Tyreek and then retaliated. They wanted to impress on him they're in charge, those are the same type of officers that eventually hurt people for no reason.

What the officers were doing was establishing dominance. When the driver is not cooperating and they can't see into the vehicle they have to assume the worst and take control of the encounter quickly. By getting Tyreek out of the car and in cuffs they took control of the encounter so that they could ensure that there were no weapons in the vehicle and no outstanding wants or warrants. Once they did that they could hand him a couple of citations and send him on his way. He wasn't hurt or arrested. If he had simply cooperated the whole matter would have been quietly resolved in ten minutes. Tyreek made it into a big mess with his behavior.

Years ago I left my girlfriend’s apartment and drove out of her complex like normal. There were multiple entrances on different sides of the complex. There was a roadblock in an intersection that was nowhere near where I was driving out. I just drove the way I naturally was going. I saw a cop jump in his car and speed down the road behind me. He pulled me over. I was already pissed because I was minding my business and had no idea why he did that. He aggressively approached my car shining his flashlight in my backseat. I rolled my window down and was compliant. He asked me if it was alcohol in my back seat. It CLEARLY was a carton of Tropicana juice. I was agitated as crap and asked him what he stopped me for and told him I was a law abiding citizen minding my business and he got defensive and asked me not to verbally assault him. He said they thought my car turned into the complex at one entrance and came out at the other to avoid the roadblock. I’m like you had it set up in a dumb position. And you can’t see. Or you made that up. But that could have gone bad and I didn’t do anything. I know how this stuff can go.

Bro, I feel you on that, how's this, I was on the highway in a "minivan", on the I-40 heading back to TN coming from NC, near the edge of the state, I see two NCHP, as I am passing by I looked over towards them sitting on the edge of the entrance of the highway each vehicle facing opposite of each other side by side if I remember correctly, I guess having a chat. One that was facing the highway, saw me looking, now I know I was traveling the right speed limit, I checked before I passed them, (already noticed) them sitting there because it is for a black man to be aware of them as far as I am concerned, he must've seen me. So now after passing them, something was telling me okay? here we go, you know that one of them is going to be coming up on you soon. Yep, now there were two lanes going west, so I was in the left lane still checking my speed, still doing the speed limit, so sure enough the punk came up behind me and now started following me. I was pissed and said to myself, "his ego is doing this and for no other reason". Then after, I went over to the right lane that is when he put on his lights and realized that I knew what he was doing. Told me he stopped me because I swaying in the lanes, yes each lane change though I used my indicator, because that is the right thing to do. 🤦♂ I will never forget the attitude that he gave me when I debunked his reason for pulling me over. Some of those white cops for real are the worst, no cap!

I was stopped for using my cell phone while driving. The police pulled me over and asked me to roll my window down. I rolled it down halfway. He told me why he was pulling me over and asked for my license and registration. He asked me why I was using my cell phone, and I told him why. I was on a work call, trying to give information to my boss in between work sites. He asked why I did not use my handsfree, and I told him it was making a crazy noise. He said thanks for your honesty, gave me a warning, and let me go. He saw a middle-aged black woman in a suv, with two phones and a bunch of work stuff. Mr. Hill was mistreated because they saw a young black man riding around in a nice car, and they wanted him to roll the window all the way down so they could see inside the car. These cops were wrong and should be reprimanded!

Amazing how these police departments learn nothing from all of these high profile cases where the police departments are coming under fire for how they treat people for very minor traffic infractions. They really need to implement a law where there is no police immunity. Once that happens, I’m sure citizens will be treated with dignity and respect during stops.

The bodycam footage shows Tyreek refusing to roll the window down. But when the officer first approaches the car he taps on the window. Tyreek immediately rolls the window down and hands the officer his info. As soon as the officer turns to go to his motorcycle, Tyreek rolls his window up. Then the officer comes immediately back and then asks for Tyreek to roll the window down again. This is the footage you show. The Civil Rights Lawyer expresses that it's 18 minutes into the interaction before they even start writing a citation.

Body cam shows they knew it was Tyreek Hill within 90 seconds of being on the scene. The second cop said to the two other cops in the back “it’s Tyreek”. However, they still treated him the way they did. Look for released body-cams.

The police gave him a lawful order to roll down his window. When you tell the police, "I'm fending to", and other stalling statements, with no window being rolled down, then begin counting down when it's about to become a busted car window.
When the police orders you to exist your vehicle, and you take your sweet azz time, then begin counting down when you will be forcefully removed, or tased....Then removed.
During a traffic stop you have 2 constitution rights you had better know, and they are the 4th & 5th amendments. One's feelings are not bound by any of those two, nor all the rest of them.

Roland, the cop already had the license. This video doesn't show the beginning of the encounter. When the cop initially walks up Tyreek rolls the window down ALL THE WAY and hands him his paperwork while telling the cop not to knock on his window like that. The cop starts to walk away and Tyreek rolls the window up. The cop walks back and that's where this video starts. Get the full body cam video from where they see him drive by them and they then pursue.
