I love that blisk could've been a genuinely intimidating villain but they insisted on him mocking Cooper for trying to be a hero at least once per conversation so he just seems dorky
I still remember his Titanfall 1 butthurt when his work partner skipped out on him and defected. He was always kind of dorky, and no amount of civilian casualties and thin veneers of professional menace is going to cover that up.
My take on Respawn and the current state of the franchise is that I think with all the staffing changes and the seeming shift in Respawns core design philosophy with Apex it would be hard to make a game that truly captures the same magic of 2. They could make a baller video game, no doubt (That one mode of Apex with the wallrunning shows they are very capable of still making a good movement based FPS), but I don't know if it would have the same sort of narrative direction and the philosophy of coming up with good ideas and constantly elaborating on them for a single level before dropping it for the next. I would much rather like to see Respawn go back and update 2 more. It doesn't even have to be content updates, if they could just fix the issues that make the multiplayer unplayable for hours or even days at a time, I would be happy.
As far as not having the grapple in the campaign, while I was equally sad about it, I do think with the levels we got, it's for the best. The grapple I feel would just discourage the player from actually engaging with a lot of the mechanics of the levels since if anything too challenging comes up, you can mostly just grapple over it. It would have the Sekiro problem. That being said, I would love to see other levels designed around the use of the grapple being in the game. Frankly I'll take any excuse to give the designers a chance to add more levels, and I think they could do a lot of interesting things with the grapple. To me, the biggest sin of this game is how short the campaign is. And not even because I wasn't satisfied or think it wasn't worth the money, literally just because I crave more of this amazingly inspired level design and I don't know where else to go other than Titanfall 2 to get it. I'm glad this game is getting attention because this game needs to be modded to hell and back and pumped full of custom levels.

Something fun to do with specters. You can stun with a punch and you can also hack them to be on your side. So, I tend to look for moments where there's two on their own, punch one in the face, hack the other while the first guy is just laying on the ground and then hack the first guy.
I do love the thing about the titans where the IMC sees titans as just tools, but vanguard titans run mostly on the bond of the titan and pilot. The whole capture scene was basically BT playing dumb to protect you as much as possible.

Would have been more manageable if people bothered using their mobility more. The difference in lock time and shots to kill between targeted grunts and pilots meant it was only really practical for grunt farming otherwise.

I find some black comedy that after fighting off the worst of the IMC in the titanfall games, the people of the frontier decide to throw their money at Blisk's neat little bloodsport despite the fact that he has a known history of shooting down civilian vessels on the IMC payroll (and is in fact, part of the reason the frontier is left with its fair share of of postwar scars that they try to numb with peculiar bloodsport.).
oh god, im Annoying about ULTRAKILL in the same way that im Annoying about Titanfall 2 lmao. i def wouldnt classify it in the same vein as most other FPS campaigns, since it heralds much more from the lineage of character action games, but i think you'd probably get a kick out of it because it does a great job of keeping itself fresh and also has a really nice focus on accessibility. also has a lot of mechanical depth, if thats something you tend look for! plus i would probably drop anything to catch an ULTRAKILL stream since im Not Normal about that game lmao
I feel like the wait for titanfall 3 is gonna be like prime 4. we wont hear any news about if for almost a decade then wait maybe another decade for it to actually get made lol. But it is a game on the source engine so hopefully that doesnt mean it's physically impossible to make a third title
Nested launchers do be really annoying though, if only Steam had an inbuilt ability to disable mods instead of simply install or uninstall, then it would be truly completely unnecessary

The Enemy NPC titan pilots have literal hours of shit-talk voicelines in the game files.
