    Bro, I'm in college for music production, and I've learned more in an hour from you than I have all year in school. You're awesome! Thank you for this video!

    Man what an awesome video and still as relevant in 2021 as 2014. I was building sections of the song in Session View and then recording into Arrangement view. I think this is a much better approach.

    Hi, just a thought... It would be great if you could upload a video clip of you playing this song with the full band so we can hear what the end result is. Thanks for all the info and direction.

    Matt mentioned getting the tamborine samples from sound park. I was unable to find them on there. Could you post link or what they are titled on sound park?

  • @TeleCathster

    How would you introduce this set up to your team, when only the drummer uses headphones, the rest use stage monitors, could the cues be turned down do that they can only be heard by musicians, and hear the rest of the track as if it was another instrument.

    So u are recording everything in midi track form, can I record it in audio track form and then change the sound of the instrument? I'm new, thx in adcance

    • @malzbiervonaldi
      @malzbiervonaldi 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      that is exactly the difference between midi and a wave form. You can't change the sound of a recorded instrument - of course you can process it, like changing the eq, putting reverb on it etc but you can't make a piano sound like a trumpet. That is the beauty in recording midi, midi data just contains the note, the velocity and when the note starts and ends. The computer now puts any sound you want in that place. I know its late, but i hope this still helps :D

    how can we get that same type of cues you are using, (Cues Fast & Cues Slow) or are those custom cues you created for yourself?

    This is a Great video! I'd like to build on top of the actual track like this but I'm having a hard time getting my music from apple music into Ableton. Anybody know a good solve for this?

    • @loopcommunity
      @loopcommunity  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have access to the audio file directly, you should be able to drag it right into your Ableton session!

    How did you get that ping pong effect? I love it!

    • @loopcommunity
      @loopcommunity  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look for the effect in Ableton called "Ping Pong Delay" and that will be a great place to start!

    what happens If the songs goes off beat I am having a hard time bringing the tempo back in line

    • @loopcommunity
      @loopcommunity  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Double check that you've got the tempo mapped correctly in Ableton. If it is getting out of sync, the click may be not perfectly lined up to the grid, or there may be changes in tempo within your audio sample.

  • @zachmoslander
    @zachmoslander 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    What do I do when the click doesn't stay on beat the whole song? I'm working on a song right now that isn't staying with the click the whole time. I know I'm on the right tempo but half way through it gets off. What should I do?

    • @rockerboy_2049
      @rockerboy_2049 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Ableton it's typically a good idea to have your click in a separate channel and built to a Drum Rack. When you bring a backing track into Ableton don't warp it (Ableton automatically does this) set it to it's own audio channel. After that open a new MIDI track and select Drum Rack, if you need help on how to operate a Drum Rack I'm sure there are plenty of youtube tutorials on how to do it. In Drum Rack load up a couple of samples of Click Noises after clearing any pre-existing sounds and have them count off the way you want to (draw in the notes on every quarter note, inflections are up to you). After you've got the click noises set up take a look at your master track, right click on whichever scene you're looking at and you should have an option to adjust the tempo, set it to whatever BPM your backing track is set to and this will automatically set Ableton's metronome to THAT tempo. Ableton will automatically loop the MIDI region with the click sounds in it and your backing track should play along with it after you press play on the master track (the play arrows that show up on the right side of the screen). If the next backing track is at another BPM just press the play button on the master track that your next backing track is set to after opening up another MIDI region in Drum Rack that has the same click sounds, Ableton will keep up with you on the changing BPM's. Hope this helps!

    How hot should I mix the tracks to be level with other tracks? -12? -3? I use Logic then upload to prime cloud.

    • @loopcommunity
      @loopcommunity  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Frank, as loud as you can make them without any of the tracks clipping. We typically like stems to peak at -1. Hope this helps!
