Unfortunately it doesn’t work if you do that. If you add too much it will turn into a powder and get everywhere. Yo get more swirls though you can keep swirling the MOP around with the brush until it gets sticky then move to another area and do the same. That’s how you get the really good colors to show through. Love this mug!!!!
I wish I could provide more info. I just program my kiln to cone 019 on a fast schedule. If I remember correctly it takes about 3 hours to fire and turn off. And 6 to 8 more to cool.
Mayco bought out some Duncan products. And I pulled this info directly from the Mayco website… “Overglazes are non-toxic after firing. Work in a well-ventilated area when applying to your piece. Overglazes are dinnerware safe but ware decorated with gold overglazes should not be used in microwave ovens. Overglazes can be used on surfaces that come into contact with food and drink. Care must be taken to avoid hard scrubbing when washing overglazed ware, because of the possibility of scraping off the thin layer of gold or mother of pearl. Treat your overglazed pieces as you would fine china. Although overglazed ware will take repeated washings in a dishwasher, the overglaze will eventually wear away.”
No, I bisque fired it, then added 3 coats of stroke and coat cotton tail, fired to cone 5.5, then added mother of pearl luster and fired for a third time to cone 019. 😊
My gosh this is so beatifically made!! So much work goes into it!

Did you apply mother of pearl over white bisque clay? and how many coats? Thank you!
