However, the plaintiff says he recently found out the defendant was dating another man while they were together, so he’s suing for fraud and emotional distress. The defendant insists she never dated the plaintiff, and she’s countersuing for emotional distress.

The real villain here is the mom, trying to pawn her off and basically leading him to believe if he just changed himself, she'd finally like him. I also wouldn't be surprised if the mother had told her something like "let him take care of you," based on the way she was shocked to see her mother's texts. Maybe they should both sue the mom for emotional distress.

So basically, the defendant made a mess of her life by going out and becoming a single mother.
