I don´t care what anyone says, the original parkour system is still the best one out there. The looks are quite rudimentary, but the combination of reliability and freedom, coupled with the excellent world design, makes it such a great system. While playing the Altair and Ezio games, I often find myself just doing parkour for fun, or even deliberately fast-travelling to another location, so I have to run across the city in order to start my mission. The parkour races and parkour puzzles in the various dungeons were great as well. It was obvious that Ubisoft was proud of their parkour system, and wanted to make it a big part of the game. These days, it just feels like the parkour is an afterthought, added in just so Ubisoft can call their game Assassin´s Creed.
I agree with almost all of that, but I honestly really like the way that parkour looks in AC1-Rev. Something about the way that Altair, Ezio and Desmond hop across beams is super satisfying to me on a very instinctual level. The way they jump just feels very solid and weighty while also maintaining the correct sense of agility for the type of characters that they are, and the system presents their momentum consistently, whereas following AC games start to mess with the weights of the characters, often resulting in characters that feel either unrealistically light or overly heavy and jumps that can have unrealistic hangtime with floaty-looking animations. AC1-Rev's system doesn't struggle with any of that at all, and I really appreciate it for that.
@@jcers What I meant was that some movements, like vaults, are just straight up missing from the game. The running and walking animations are also quite strange, and it really starts to show when you are doing stuff with Desmond, who doesn´t have the long Assassin robes to cover up his legs, arms and hips. But yeah, as far as the parkour at height is concerned, it is top notch. I especially like the gentle precision landing on the edge of the roof. That one is really nice.
My routing has evolved quite a bit in my time spent on here, especially since we rediscovered punch-drop. It's opened up a lot of new movement opportunities for us parkour choreographers
I've honestly become fairly partial to the overall experience/feel of the animations in this system, but applying the animation variety of 3 to the weightiness and consistency of momentum that AC1-Rev's system offers would be absolutely perfect
Depends on the run. Usually, I end up making things a lot harder for myself than necessary and that extends the creation period, lol. This one took me about four to five hours to make, if I remember correctly
Well done!! I have been recently listening to the HookBlade podcast (and the episode that you were in) and came here and was like "wow". I wish the parkour in my ACII gameplay could remotely look like this hahaha
Origins parkour would feel instantly a touch better if it featured a proper and consistent side eject. It has them back and sides but they are contextual in specific scenarios. The best thing though is the exploration and immersion c:
@@blackprinceofpersia1755 I mastered ac unity parkour so when I started I was already used to the parkour within an hour. Thanks I am currently enjoying it.
Don’t know if you’ll see this but I’ve recently picked up AC2 and having a blast, but I’ve noticed there’s some crazy mouse accleration that’s proving to be rather annoying. Do you know if there is any way to fix it?
So long as you keep practicing and always push yourself to be creative and to experiment with your character's moveset, you will always keep improving. I've been making these kinds of videos for over two years now, and I can definitely see a number of improvements in my style and technique from my first few parkour snippets/montages. Keep learning, keep experimenting, push yourself to take risks, and, if you're stubborn as hell (like me), maybe try making some choreography. It's a system that only gets more fun to use the better you are at it.
the music and ezios footstep sounds alone put me at peace 😊💕
Parkour in this game is my therapy
Whenever jcers post it is indeed a certified hood classic
Much appreciated 🙏🏻
So much soul and wonder in this game.
This game feels like it was designed to feel nostalgic, even to people playing it for the first time in 2009.

bro it’s like you memorized the entire map
this is soo so good
amen
Not quite the entire map, but definitely this specific part of it, haha
That's the only way to make the parkour look good
AC2 parkour goes so hard
Gotta love the leap of well at the end
Imagine Ezio doesn’t grab onto the well and falls all the way down into world 1-2
But icould be better if he used controlled decent for parkour down not leap of faith
Well jumps hit different
@@vstarev2715 you can't do controlled descents in ac2
@@vstarev2715. I don’t think you even get a leap of faith trigger or animation when jumping over a well. That’s legit just aiming it, I think.
1:26 I can't live without this game, just listen to the music
The aggressive but smooth parkour with the music feels very relaxing. Awesome snippet!
“Babe wake up, Jcers posted a new Parkour Snippet”

"We could be cuddling and watching Jcers rn but you playin"
@jar it's been too long fr
0:14 that downward lashe was beatiful
I will never understand the people who say that the movement animations in these games are bad

Mannn if only I was a game director for assassins creed at ubisoft
The things I would do👨🦲🕴
Look at Dorsoduro man, so inspirational
The level design is straight heat
WELL done

How long does it take to choreograph these? Just so good

Flow young Jcers, flow
1:24 back eject on rope 👌
I am known to be an eject enjoyer
this video is genius man. what’s your favorite ac overall?
I think ac2 had the best world design for parkour
if you ask me, AC1
@A'GLee atmosphere was never the question
I think I'm gonna have to agree. AC1 is very close, though. AC2 with vaulting would have been ridiculous
@A'GLee then why did you answer in the wrong context
@A'GLee i have too big social credit to explain that
Well done!!

Also nice choice of music(:
It plays automaticaly in Venice btw

this was a nice suprise
Happy to be able to deliver in that respect :)

I had a dream, AC Unity but with Ezio storyline
Having a better story would fix a lot of Unity's problems, but the mechanical issues would still bother me quite a bit, tbh
The need to play the Ezio Trilogy is great
I've yet to think of a bad reason to replay these games
