this seems to be a perfect solution for the mother who wants her daughter to wear her dress (instead of letting her find her own "the" dress) - though I expect it was shortened to be more of a party dress
919 likes and no comment?
The title said something about "reception dress"; so yes, a dress for the party after the ceremony.
My exact observation 😊
Perfect! It would be a dream come true if my daughter would wear my wedding dress.
aw, I really find this incredibly moving of you to share, I never really gave it alot of thought, or certainly not in the sense of the effect it would have upon the incredible beings we know as our strength and stay, our mothers! I thought it was flippant remark perhaps,I can't really articulate effectively enough to continue however, bless you, I hope that dream is something that can arise somehow someday, even if it's with a personalised twist such as this, without taking anything away from the specialness of the incredible blessing, that isn't just a mother's hope and wish to have the dress worn by your child, but truly, to be the blessing that is a beautiful and bright, strong and guiding light that you are as a mother! To have a relationship so positive and healthy that you can communicate and share your thoughts and feelings with your own sentimental perspective but appreciating a compromise of perhaps a tweak here or there to the said item , ensuring everyone is happy. What a treasured previous soul you are. Genuinely , I hope you can relay that wonderful sentimental hope and one day, have your dress become THEE dress once more.
I love that mom allowed her to alter it. What a beautiful Memory. The jaw drop and look he gave her. He's a keeper. 😂
I mean, what’s the mom going to do with it anyway? 🤷♀️ Better to alter it & get use out of it than just sit there unaltered.
I don't believe she altered it, back in the 80's wedding dresses were like tiered cakes! Lol! I'm sure the top part (that she wore as a dress) was just the top , and a second long skirt went underneath. Many of my aunties had 80's dresses like that.
@@thecountessofgreycastle7119if you look at the picture she has of her mom in the dress its definitely a full-length gown
@@reginafallangie2867 Girl there are some women that will keep it until a granddaughter is born 😆 I did see a cute TH-cam creator that wore her grandmother's dress it was beautiful.
I would slap my daughter if she did that. I would rather have her not wear the dress than alter it like that.
She looks so pretty in her mom wedding gown
Gown? Where? The mini dress?
It’s not a gown it’s short 😂
Yes… too bad she didn’t keep it intact..! 😔
i think her mother looked beautiful because she was enough thin to carry it on..now it looks only a poor cheap dress !! i am sorry for this comment but this is true..congrats to the new couple ..i hope their daugther wears her mother's wedding dress ..
I love it🎉
Both dresses are a no from me. But her adorableness and happiness are a yes. ❤
I like the cowboy boots with the mom’s dress though, I do think it’s a cute combo although maybe not the best dress, as long as she liked which her smiles makes it seem she did
Yeah. Wtf is this bride on
Backhanded compliment 101!
Why do people feel the need to let the negative thing come out? Just say she looks adorable. Do we all need to go back to preschool for a rehash of “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”???
good thing it's not your wedding. she looks great! Doesn't matter that a stranger on the internet thinks her dresses are a no. I hope they had a great day!
I love how you can still see the original dress. It makes the experience so much richer for the both of them
I think her dress looked cool on her. Lots of people don’t seem to get it because it’s not a typical wedding dress but it’s different. I think the cowboy boots with her moms dress did not match tho. Girly should’ve went with white ones
It looks better than the ceremony dress 💀
FOR REAL 😭😭
And fits better😅
I'm so glad I'm not the only one thinking that😅
Well both are … special 😅😅😅 mom and daughter have the same (limited) taste
@@Justme-tz1ttthat's wicked😂
The way he looks at her and reacts when he sees her in that short dress.
that ceremony dress is….definitely a choice…
Mmmhmm. A choice indeed.
Looks like a figure skating costume Tanya Harding would own
A choice several sizes too small
Yea.. a very brave choice 😅
@@staralchemist129no it doesnt. Tanya’s outfits were cute LMAO
Bride: does a good thing that makes her and her mom happy.
Internet: shits on the happiness.
Yup.
right?! 😭 wtf is this comment section, she looks adorable!
Yeah I regret opening the comments. I am also getting a bit concerned about my fashion sense since I find the first dress cute lol
@@hollelloI agree! She looks so good! And I personally find the dress super cute 😭❤️❤️❤️
This comment section is so not it!!!! She looks happy...THE END .
I am your 1k like 😅
The way he looked at her ❤️
I would turn around and change so fast 😂💀
@layla7226 ok you can have whatever opinion you want on the dress, but that was actually too much. Awful thing to say
Both dresses were ugly 😬
Neither dress were something i'd have worn as they're not my kind of dress but i love how happy she was in them and how much she seemed to like them :) She was a gorgeous bride.
@silkandstones5964yea, antique (old) is definitely how u want to feel as a bride🤷🏾♀️. I liked the dress for a Halloween costume or a worst dress competition
I think it's so sad how because everyone doesnt like the first dress, they feel comfortable insulting it.
It may have not been their cup of tea, but it was for the bride and she absolutely loved it or she wouldnt have chosen it.
Its obviously her style.
I wish people were nicer :( they shouldnt be mocking a woman's wedding dress. It's going to taint the memories for her of that dress... i hope she will be ok despite mean ppl on the internet!
Oh dear 🤦🏾♀️
@@valrose6083op didnt even insult the dresses in anyway tho?? Just said its not their cup of tea
How can a dress look so constricting and yet so movable at the same time. Stunning nonetheless
The smile on her mom's face. The dress was cute too.
The dress she was wearing in the first clip was honestly ethereal
So you’re telling me she put on that ceremony dress and everyone, including her, said “absolutely” ? You’re pullin my leg
Right?! 😂
It's for fun, for the memory and the feeling. I guess it doesn't have to be perfectly pretty. In the best case she is with her loved once where the look doesn't really matter
@@Sophie-vw5olThe first dress is way too small. It looks like she can barely breathe in it
The only one that needs to say absolutely is the bride so other’s opinions don’t matter.
@@sierrasnell2365Exactly. I think saying it looks like toilet paper or anything harsh is just wrong. Especially because it’s her and her mother’s wedding day dress. It’s a special memory and saying such things is very rude and wrong. Some things you should just keep to yourself. Especially because if someone did the same back you’d say “WeLl ItS nOt YoUR wEdDiNg” well this one isn’t either so shut up
It looks really goofy and yet still somehow better than the ceremony dress lol
That ceremony dress was giving regency it was giving romantic it was giving unique. I love the silhouette and and choker ribbon! So cute!
Her moms dress is really classic and beautiful! Definitely TIMELESS! And daughter looks great in it. I want to see mom in it. From her wedding too!!
Then I realized we do on the phone haha!! Just gorgeous
Lost my wedding dress to Hurricane Katrina😢 This is so beautiful & fun too 🤩
this is so cute!!! ❤
*_I absolutely hate the sleeves, but it looks so good on her!! She pulls it off well & it almost looks modern to these times wearing it.. It’s crazy_* 😳🤩❤
the second dress is GORGEOUS omg, i love it when old clothes are re-loved 💖
I'm not going to criticize a style because we all have different styles. But I'm telling you, whoever was supposed to be on her side during dress alterations was too quiet, and put too much emphasis on "whatever makes the bride happy" cause her silhouette looks undone in both dresses, but more so her reception/mom's dress.
It's too top heavy and busy, and the bottom looked like and underskirt/half slip. Who actually approved this for her. 😕
Would U wear a dress, that your mother wore to marry your DAD? Thats the thing I dont understand. For me its very wierd, but most people love this. I never understand such a thing.
I don’t think there’s really anything that can be done to help the silhouette once you’ve decided to go with the 80s sleeves. Sure you can add more to the bottom, but that’ll just make you look bulky on both ends. The skirt and neckline are the most successful parts of the alteration imo. If it were me I’d just cut the sleeves straight off 😂
The 80s dress was actually a better fit than the first one. First one was a couple sizes too small.
It’s an 80s dress, that was just the vibe at the time lol
You are so right!!!!I didn't like any of them!!!!
She looks great it’s actually timeless!!
Girl what was that first dress 😭☠️
I love this! This is such a cute thing to do and I’m sure it made your mother even more happy because she must have remembered her wedding day and now she’s seeing her own daughter have hers and in her dress too. This is so cute! 💜💜💜
Cute! But it reminds me a lot of the majorette uniforms that we had in band back in the late half of the 90’s. Just make it royal blue and add gold sequins to the top and then you have a really close representation of the uniforms. But I would love to wear my mother’s wedding dress. Her dress was short also.
That's what it is!!!! I couldnt put my finger on it!
Her own wedding dress doesn’t fit her, and neither does her mom’s. But what happened to the rest of the skirt? Did she have it shortened? That lacy top with long puffed sleeves needs a full length skirt to balance it out. And wearing it with black cowboy boots?!?! Just can’t understand what’s going on here.
Esa será su opinión 😮el vestido le queda genial ,Ubicate
Yeah, that’s gonna need to be a little bit longer. Closer to the knee to balance everything out.
I just can't understand why you think your nastiness is ok? This isn't your wedding. Just having an opinion doesn't make sharing it always appropriate. Your parents should have done their job
@@elliesouza717boo fuckin hoo. They put it online, where anyone is allowed and going to share their opinions. Grow up
i reckon the shortening of the dress = take off the sleeves it is would modernise, make it youthful, but still glamorous as her mams
That’s what I’m doing! Except I’m wearing it the whole wedding. :) My moms dress is from the 1980’s and it’s made up of absolutely GORGEOUS off white lace similar to this one. Its far longer though, more similar to a traditional wedding dress. It’s so much more special to do that rather than wear a new one. Not to mention cheaper! XD (If you have a good relationship with your mom that is!)
Personally, I don't want to wear my mum's dress. It's beautiful, but not my style. My parents got married in the 90s when dress styles were very puffy, and i just don't like big skirts on me. I love the dress that I picked because I was able to pick it with my mum present. I tried on over 20 dresses with her and I knew that one was the right one. This feels special to me, knowing that my mum was there to help me pick my perfect dress. Plus, my fiancé has no idea what my dress looks like, whereas he's seen my mum's dress from her wedding photos.
Love her wedding day dress. So pretty. Her mom's altered dress cute too!
What a blessing that has to be
My mom would disown me if I cut her wedding dress 😂
Edited because of the lovely people in the coments letting me know my english is not perfect. Thanks.
Why its not like she would wear it anymore and they probably discussed it first cause its another persons possession
@@not-a-ghost2206 Im just talking about our personal situation, not about the video. She seemed happy and I dont care at all what she does with her clothes.
In my case I know my mom absolutely loves the train and ruffles on her dress, so she would think it ruined if it was shortened.
My mom doesn't even have it she got married 2008 and idk what happened to the heels are still in my mom's position
My mom would disown me if I didn’t know how to conjugate a verb as an adult
@@JacquelyneMontagueTypical native English speaker forgetting that most of the world only speaks English because your lazy bums only know one language.
How sweet and heartwarming❣️
What a wonderful way to pay homage to your parent's while still having your own dream dress. 🥰
The mom allowing her to alter the dress in any way is such a testament to how much she adores her daughter 🫶 Not many moms would do that because of how special their dresses are to them, but this one did and she made her daughter’s big day SO much more special!
EDIT: Also y’all are SO rude in these comments, if you don’t have anything nice to say then stfu. She clearly adores both of these dresses and it literally does not matter if you like them or not because this is her day, so your negative opinion is unwanted and unneeded. She looked absolutely beautiful, especially in the second dress. Stop with the insults and backhanded compliments.
Honestly the styling really makes it work
This is so cute, such a great tradition.
I will never understand how someone could cut up their mother's wedding dress. It feels so wrong to me. Too precious to alter
I can't believe she altered it like that 😢😂
She definitely looks beautiful
Your mothers dress is so beautiful! I hope to find one like that someday!
what was that first dress omg 😭
Ikkk I didn’t want to say a thing bc it would b rude but omgggg I thought the same thing idk I tried to see what’s good about it but nothing popped in my head
I don’t really like either of them icl 😵💫
obviously not, u dumb?
Her boobs are super squished in that first dress 😅
i love both dresses, so unique, so fun, so personal. you don’t look like every other bride out there
Shes so beautiful in that dress❤
I've never been a fan of seeing people cut up their family's wedding dresses
That was a perfect match for her! I can only imagine her mom was just as beautiful as her in that dress when she got married back in the days😍
Edit: the ceremony dress was so pretty as well, the fit on the dress complemented her amazingly well
I got married in 1987 and wore my mother’s wedding dress from 1965. It was a classic fitted long sleeved lace bodice with a princess skirt. It saved my parents a lot of money and I didn’t mind because I had always loved the dress from seeing my mom and dad’s wedding photos. My colors were pink and white like my mom’s and my bridesmaids had shimmery pink dresses as well, similar to my mom’s bridesmaids. My grandma had had the wedding dress cleaned and professionally packed in a special garment bag after the wedding so when we opened the bag it was still pure white and just like brand new. I was so lucky she still had it because when I was in high school she had an explosion and fire in her basement. Two weeks prior she had brought the dress upstairs because she thought it would be better for it and because the garment rack downstairs was full. I had asked her to get out my mother’s dresses and tops and skirts she had saved because 50’s and 60’s stuff was popular. She had hung things up on the garment rack with the wedding dress and then took the dress upstairs to make room. I’m glad grandma and the wedding dress made it but I was so bummed about the other clothes. They were incinerated.
Whoever altered that dress from Mom's to daughter's did a Top Job. Really Well Done.
Ppl shitting on the ceremony dress, meanwhile me finding it absolutely cool, I love it.
My daughter did this for the rehearsal dinner. People kept asking where she got it ❤️
i actually really like both dresses. i didn’t like the second one too much at first until she put on the boots, they really tied it together and made it look super cute
Ok she is absolutely gorgeous. I’m not too keen on the dresses, they don’t seem to flatter her beautiful shape at all- but if she felt comfortable in them and was happy with the way she looked then to hell with my opinion.
Neither of the dresses fit her well at all. She was gonna explode out the first one but only ooze out the second lol shame on whoever tailored both
The first dress fit her perfectly. It had a built-in corset that purposely pushed her breasts up.
@@cutienerdgirlno tf it didn’t lol it was literally giving her double boobs lol the dress all together didn’t fit
A veces quien encarga quiere ir bien apretadito y no es culpa del diseñador.
@@cutienerdgirlit’s not about pushing her breasts up, it’s the fit. Look at the lines across the bodice, especially when she turns around and shows the back. This means the fabric is pulled too tight and can’t sit flat against the body. It’s a permanent crease because her body can’t fit into the way the dress is tailored. It’s nothing about her body shape (she’s beautiful!) and completely about how the dress has been altered.
@@cutienerdgirlno it's cut wrong, her body is fine but the corset is bowing weird from not fitting her curves properly. Too bad though
i love the boots with the dress it adds the perfect touch
no the boots were awful
@@minniemin1324 lmaoo
I love those boots with the dress

White Women born from ‘95-2010 love cowboy boots and skater dresses. It’s basically a uniform at this point
Know this made her mom so happy! Perfect solution to a wedding wear dilemma. 😊
Aww, so cute. She looks adorable in her mama’s gown
Alright now very cute congratulations to the both of you.🥂✌🏼😉
1) this is amazing absolutely gorgeous 2) why is she wearing sunglasses at night
cannot believe people are criticizing her over over own wedding dress which she looked gorgeous and happy in. and i’ve even seen comments criticizing her for wearing her mothers dress! unbelievable. let brides be happy, it’s not your wedding.
THAT 80S DRESS IS SO CUTE OMG. She has the perfect look for it! The big shoulders make her look so dainty and I love that hairstyle with it! And the boots… it’s so so cute! I absolutely love that wedding mini dress style. She looks like Wendy Darling!
My daughter wore what was once my wedding gown. We did a few changes and it’s now hers.
How amazing!!!! 🎉😂❤. The bride is beautiful as well as mom!!!! You must be so very proud 😅. It makes my heart so happy and full❤ thanks for sharing!!
her mother looked happy and she’s happy and that’s where the discussion ends.
I love this! I love how happy they are all and she’s so pretty in both of them
Beautiful dress
Are we looking at the same dress? Because, absolutely not
Love this!!! The boots made it perfect
❤ that was my same sword the boots, with the mini dress.🎉
She totally killed that
she looks beautiful in both and I think it's really cool that she wanted to change into her moms dress that's neat
What a fantastic idea and she looks STUNNING!!!

It’s too cute! So cool having something “old” that was shared between Mother & Daughter! You really look great in it! 😍
She looks beautiful 💖✨
She just should have worn her mom's dress as her wedding dress and kept it on
well... so long as she's happy with the dresses i suppose
Wow very simple , but elegance . I love it
She wore the wedding dress for the reception. And was allowed to cut it to fit her liking. That was nice.
I saw that the boots were black and i was like 🤔 but the hole thing looks so crazy and fun, I think it slays
Right?! I think it would've looked much better with light colored boots or white boots, preferably. They do sell cowboy boots in white, ranging from plain to very fancy. It's become a lot more popular wedding trend in recent years. At least, here in the South, it has. LOL
@@Sassy_Kat yup defo white would’ve looked better but black doesn’t look that bad
It's so unfortunate that most mothers' wedding dresses are from the 80s. Those puffy sleeves didn't flatter anyone. She looks happy in her mom's dress so that's all that matters.
My mothers too lol
If mom got married in the 80s, she cannot travel forward in time and get a 2020s dress.
i have and will always have a soft spot for 80s wedding dresses
I actually love 80s wedding dresses. I love the sleeves, and the lace.
This is so awesome.
You can choose to wear white boots. It cuts you off with it being black. It would look a thousand times better being white.
She ought to wear whatever she likes. It's her wedding, not yours
@@elliesouza717 Oh, excuse me, I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing that out. Have a great day.
@@etiquetteconnoisseur6184in light of your username, please not that critiquing someone's wedding attire _after_ their special day is unnecessary and hurtful. She's adorable.
@@AnoraJohnson shes allowed to state her opinion, both dresses were ugly
@@Xxxfallen_angelxxX Just because we are allowed to say something doesn't mean we should.
I love how the shoulders are similar on both dresses :'3
Honestly I think her mom's dress suits her better and at full length would've been a gorgeous gown for the ceremony. At the end of the day though it's her wedding and she should wear whatever dress she loves the most.
It actually looks so cute and not dated at all! It looked great with the boots and…dare I say the look looked better than the ceremony dress😬
I just feel like this needs to be said: Vintage dresses are perfectly beautiful as they are. You don't have to cut them up to make them "sexy". Don't let society pressure you into sexualising everything.
Well said!!! I was thinking the same thing.
Maybe she simply found the shorter length more comfortable, especially for dancing.
@@AnoraJohnson one big twirl and her whole butt will be shown are you serious??
The reception dress is traditionally shorter than the ceremony dress. As another commentor mentioned, this is beneficial for actually being able to move comfortably, dance, and not get stepped on. Not everything is about sexualization
@@Creepystalker102 That dress wasn't just shorter. She'd turned it into a micro-mini. If she tried to move in that she'd be giving the guest a gender reveal party. She could have had the dress cut to tea length, just below the knees, or just above the knees and then, yes, I'd agree that she wasn't trying to go for the Vegas fun girl look. But she didn't do that. She cut it to just barely below her vagina...and yes, that's way too sexualized to be appropriate.
Beautiful!!!
Her Mom’s dress is giving “Wedding In The Six Musical” and it’s so super cute!! Like, the length and he puffy shoulders is a combo you might not think would work, but it actually does! I wish these newly weds all the best!
Very cute
The ceremony dress is giving me “she was trying to audition as dollar tree version of Elizabeth Swann” feelings. But she didn’t make the cut unfortunately lol.
@silkandstones5964 😂😂 Omg it’s literally a joke. Everyone has a different preference and style. If she was happy in her ceremony wedding dress that’s great and all that matters. It’s just a joke, not actually some mean jab at her. I guess you don’t have the same humor at all, clearly.
My mom wore a dark blue summer dress with flowers to her wedding. Since I wanna marry in white one day and hence won't wear her wedding dress to my own wedding, I wore it to my high-school graduation ceremony☺ Such a special moment
I love the idea of changing the mother's dress into the reception dress.
You look lovely. I hope everything was exactly the way you hoped. I'm so sorry so many have no manners at all. Ignore any negative comments. Some people dislike anyone else being happy
i love your comment and I truly agree negative words stank and need to go
