Most of the water bodies in TN are occupied by DMK . Very good example is Valluvar kottam . Which is built on Nungambakkam lake. Then Koyambedu busstand to name the tip of the iceberg if u go across TN there are so many buildings on top of lakes and other water bodies. First this government should accept its made a mistake. No body is perfect in this world what makes the difference is accepting that i have made a mistake rather than using bullying strategy and covering up ur mistakes. @RedPix. The Panel recommendations are extremely powerful recommendations. I live in Australia and this continent too experiences much worser floods every year compared to Chennai. But the local council, and people in the neighbourhood act well ahead in preparing themselves. For example, they bring excavators and create sandbag walls for low lying areas to divert the flood to nearby canal/river (this is also one recommendation in the panel report). As a news medial channel, requesting you to wake up the bureaucrats and prepare for next years. Whether they are DMK or ADMk. Great work team Red Pix for voicing this out

For example, 50mm in one day if it rains in early monsoon time, there is a good poossibility of water to get absorbed. While run off will be less. On the other hand, generally flodding happens during the middle or last phase of monsoon..by then the absorbing capacity is much less, lakes are full and the run off occurs in large quantities. As such your findings on the blockage of drainage is the real cause for flooding. Added to that, all DMK functionaries were very lethargic and hence learnt a lesson. No planning on relief measure is the main point in declaring the failure of the DMK. Eating every fund, makes each one to dictate terms on the other and altogether break down of governance - with effect from every day to life in maintaining roads & drainages is the show case. Let us see how the so called fact finding team is playing fiddle to this incapable goverment.
By simple logic. Even after 3-4 days, the flodded water is not draining INDICATES THAT THE CAUSE OF FLOOD IS BLOCKED DRAINAGE THAN THE AMOUNT OF RAIN FALL.

I have a doubt, when you compare data of two events, it would give authenticity if one compares data from same source. In this case IMD date would be the preferred choice. Are we not getting data for 2015 event from IMD? I am not disputing the other research papers but they also would have taken dara from a reliable source which would have been given in the references. Even If the data are not readily available from the IMD website, they are bound to provide it on an RTI. I appreciate your efforts in getting dara from research papers and am giving my opinion as this would give authentication to your narrative.
