  • Join me on a fascinating journey into my Italian beehive as I uncover the challenges of dealing with chalk brood. In this video, witness the hive inspection where I identify the issue and discuss a strategic plan to address it. I'll be inserting a frame into the brood nest, hoping that our buzzing friends grow stronger for a successful Demoray next time. Beekeeping enthusiasts, don't miss out on this insightful exploration of hive management and problem-solving! 🍯 #Beekeeping #HiveInspection #ChalkBrood #DemorayStrategy

I seriously love your close up shots!!!
It's so cool to see how teeny tiny the eggs are compared to the larvae right next to them.

That comb looks a little old. I am planning to do a couple of shook swarms this spring to see if that re-energizes the colonies. I have a couple in mind that didnt produce well and have old dark comb.

Yeah all my comb is crap. It’s been two seasons so far without any real flow to build new comb with. I think it’s why most of my hives were suffering.

I saw at least one frame that was mostly drone comb. I know that varroa is new to your country, but it certainly is not to us! That frame of drone comb will become a varroa generator, producing almost TWICE the reproduction rate. Get that frame out of there! Chalk brood will be nothing compared to varroa if you enhance their reproduction rate.

I will be uncapping drone comb to check for Varroa when it gets close to me so that frame is exactly where I want it.
      Goodluck with your beekeeping.
