Colossians: 2:16-17: 16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Look at the list given here. This is speaking of the sacrifices and offerings made by the Levitical priesthood. Go back to your Hebrew Scriptures and search for lists like this. Look for feast*, new moon*, sabbath*. What will you find? A description of the Levitical priest's work in sacrifices and offerings. As I said before, the meat and drink has nothing to do with dietary law. You should find this easy to understand since there were no dietary laws regarding drinks. However, every day there were meat and drink offerings made: fine flower, oil, frankincense, salt and wine. They are always referred to as meat and drink. So all these items relate to the "ordinances of divine service" the sacrificial system. We know that the part of the law that had come to an end was the sacrificial system, don't we? Why, because Jesus provided his life for the final, perfect sacrifice--therefore, the sacrifices of the feasts were no longer of any effect--or need. Circumcision was always only of effect if the heart was circumcised (even when the flesh was circumcised). This is repeated throughout the scriptures as well. This entire section is dealing with salvation by grace through faith: circumcision of the heart, the atoning sacrifice of Yeshuah, the handwriting of ordinances which was contrary to us. The handwriting of ordinances which were against us, are not the commandments of God but the indictment, written by hand, of the charges made against us. This is what the actual Hebrew means. This is what was nailed to the cross--the indictment--and instead of being convicted and punished--we are justified because Christ paid the penalty for our crimes. Read the entire section: 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. 16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Please reconsider the need to wrangle with the passages of Paul, which Peter said were difficult and easy to be misconstrued. That is one reason, I believe that the original order of the New Testament had Paul last, not first. He was the last apostle and he was the most difficult--but the church after hundreds of years, put his books first--so Christians, instead of reading Peter, James and John first, only get to them after Paul--a shame because Paul, in his labyrinthine teaching seems to contradict Jesus, the other apostles and even himself! Paul is like a doctorate and unless you get the bachelors and masters out of the way, you are in no way ready for the subtleties and nuances of Paul. (This must seem condescending--but it is not meant to be, most of us don't have a doctorate in the faith).
Colossians 2:16: The dietary law did not include meat and drink, these are the sacrifices: the meat offering was grain or fine flour and the drink offering was wine. FYI.
Pastor, your cancellation of the Sabbath seems to be in error regarding scripture. Jesus states in Matt 5:17-18 that he came to fulfill the law not to abolish it and that anyone who annuls the least of the commandments (I would regard the Sabbath as one) and teaches other to do the same shall be the least of the kingdom. You main argument is that if it was important, it would have been mentioned, so merely by its exclusion, it is void. I would believe that if it was to be abolished, since the Bible is consistent, it would clearly state that it is abolished and why, which is converse to your argument. How do you make this congruent with everything else in your lesson?
I can listen to his sermon everyday,it comes from his heart...❤🙏🙋♂️🙋♀️👌

Close-minded Pharisees will never accept this teaching.
