Believe it or not, I just bought Stallone's very own framed photo of this fight that he had hanging on his wall for years through Julien's auctions. He signed it boldly as well on the glass in blue marker and I'm thrilled to own it. Got it for a steal at $1600. Had to come here to celebrate!!!
This scene is arguably the best in the movie. Not only does it reference Stallone's other series "Rocky" and provide Rambo the audition he needed as a guest character in Mortal Kombat 11, it stays true to the context of "it's not who draws 'First Blood,' it's who draws last that wins." And at the end after a hard won fight you can see Rambo struggle with his PTSD-fueled killer instinct to "Finish Him." P.S. I'm also glad Rambo's opponent gave a really good go. It helps illustrate that Rambo's not an invincible hero, but the most humanized/realistic action movie hero of all time. May the idiots who screwed up "Last Blood" face a war they won't believe . . . with the pissed fans.
