I will say.. I really wish the festival would continue to honor the “legacy act”.. I have always been a big music fan so of course I enjoy them. But also I will say.. twice I brought my younger sister to the festival (6 years younger) and she was very happy to see Dead & Co, Paul McCartney and Tom Petty.. legacy acts ALWAYS have a place in big festivals IMO.. 🤷🏼♀️🩷
Appreciate your ability to get a direct line to Roo coordinators. Whether I agree or disagree with particular directions Roo has taken it's at least nice to hear the rationales its personnel are claiming. One thing that I think was overlooked in this discussion is that while you pointed out that it's safe to assume this upcoming schedule will have a huge EDM footprint given exit surveys, you didn't revisit their comments that strings/bands were heavily requested as well. For all of the online claims that "strings don't sell tickets" last summer, the fact of the matter is that when Roo had some awesome bands across various rock/alt rock genres in 2023 ALONG with EDM, it had a sell-out. When the genre/band mix just wasn't there aside from EDM last year, Roo only moved about 60% of their tickets. Hoping they take a page out of their exit surveys...I'm all for evolving and keeping up with the times & pivoting for the future, but there's still a clear chunk of the Roo fan base that wants solid representation outside of EDM. I've been to I think 11 Roos now...if the lineup is closer to 2023 I'll be there again, if 2024 I & most of my veteran group I go with will be taking a pass. I unfortunately agree with y'all that if the Thursday artist isn't someone anyone will guess, it's probably not someone I'll like lol. My hope is that, while it doesn't need to be a currently gigantic name, it is an artist with a strong tie to the history of Roo.

if we are speculating on EDM headliners there are only a handful of artist that make since that could sell tickets and keep non edm fans engaged my first and best guess would be Skrillex he has a lot of pop Culter hits with artist like Justin Beber Kendrick Lamar Rick Ross and ASAP Rocky he's been around since the mid 2000s and has a colt like following, other EDM artist that are similar in this since would be Marshmallow he had the first ever concert on fortnight lots of hit songs with pop artist ect lastly long shot guesses would be excision he holds his own bass music fest in September in Ohio that has an average attendance of 50 to 60k not alot of pop Culter hits but he has a mass following and his VDJ are next level lots of Pyrotects ect at his shows, Deadmau5 and Calvin Harris or Martin Garrix. note this is if it's a Sunday headliner like Fred again last year
