I drive 2018 Opel Insignia (Buick Regal) in the U.S. It rides like a luxury car (18" wheels), butter smooth, plush and refined. 2018-2020 Buick Regal comes standard with 2.0T 250hp engine, it has plenty of power for everyday driving. Utility is amazing, trunk is huge. Everyone who rides with me compliments my car. I am sad we won't see this redesign in the U.S.

I had 2014 Insignia. 2.0 disel with Automatic transmision and 4x4. 200hp. I loved that car. Bought it one year old and for that amount of money the level of equipment i got was amazing. Adaptive suspension, radar cruise control, adaptive xenon lights, AGR memory seat and so on.
Interior quality was superb. Nicely designed and quality made. After almost 100.000km of wich 80k in my possesion, the interior didn't change at all. I like how it was designed to be easy to use.
I don't understand why people bash Insignia. Great quality car for far less money then other brands with a lot more equipment.

In America, we were getting this as the Buick Regal Sportback, GS (or GSi), & TourX (Country Tourer). Even tho GM sold Opel to PSA, GM has a bad habit of bringing a great car to the States from Europe or Australia, never advertising it & being shocked as to why it didn't sell well. They are discontinued here after this year so we won't get this beautiful refresh model 😒 🙄

Another model joins the ''in terms of design, really interesting medium sedans club'': Jaguar XE, Volvo S60/V60, Peugeot 508, Alfa Julia, Renault Talisman and now, Opel Insignia. trek kin yes but you don’t buy a German car because of reliability. If you want a car that will last you get a Toyota or a Honda or Hyundai/Kia. You get a German car because it’s fun to drive, fast, luxurious and full of modern technology

    • @Djeseret
      @Djeseret 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@nicholascernatescu6685 This is a very common argument, but if you stop and think... drive is a pure guess and preconceived beliefs, ideology, not reality-based facts, because no one has driven this car yet and the way it drive is what they have invested the most in.
It probably takes a super BMW-Mercedes-Audi for 130,000 euros to surpass this only regarding the drive in a clear way, no ordinary, average BMW-Mercedes-Audi and absolutely none at the same price.
      What quality?
A perceived quality of the surface... everyone knows that these B.M.A. cars are not the ones with the least number of faults.
A car consists of infinitely more than drive and perceived quality, if that's all you got, you don't have much of a car.

The seats are a weak point. The engine is the 260HP spec. They have stopped selling it here . I replaced a RWD top of the range, 3.6 V6, 6 speed Auto with it. Overall I am really happy with it. Performance is quite amazing definitely the Sweet spot in the range. No longer sold here, Holden has closed down, except for Customer Service.

Overall really feels like a facelift, and not a proper full-on update. Still I must commend them for keeping all the buttons in, even if those are quite low quality. Happy they didn't go zero-budget option with glued-on iPad, lol.

GM never really cared for Opel, they took the brand for granted and only kept it to have some connection with Europe. This will be the very last Opel in the hands of GM.
Holden/Australia as a brand is also dead. It's going to be replaced by GMSV. Less cars, more SUV and small to large size pick-up trucks will be heading to Australia.
The wagon is the better looking/pick and more desirable of the two cars.

The biggest thing to realise with Vauxhall/Opel is that they suffer dramatic depreciation and hence when you correct the price actually paid to the car you get, they are superb value and a very good buy indeed. There is nothing wrong with Vauxhall except saddled with its totally undeserved downmarket associations...the clever driver buys one at the right price and then has a much better car than a Mondeo or similar and more reliable than most other cars on sale..think BMW/Audi who have many problems. So...a very good car but when bought at the right price.🙂🙂🙂

I was hesitant in buying the 2020 as its not something that looks like Holden. I took a punt and am quite surprised with the 2020 model. I don't think NZ is selling the next generations so I'll most likely buy a Skoda wagon. The only dislikes for the Opel-inspired Holden are the front seats are too narrow as opposed to the VF Holden model, the silver around the gear shifter reflects the sun on bright days, and it is front-wheel drive.

A real pity that Vauxhall has dropped the estate version in the U.K. As a disabled paraplegic wheelchair user, it is getting harder and harder to get a large estate car that can take a wheelchair and other essential luggage as nearly all manufacturers (and public) are going for SUV's, which are too high from transporting directly from a wheelchair to a high SUV seat. Also Motability do not do all large estates available, even with a high Advanced Payment provided by the Motability customer.

Agree 100% also doesn't make sense as the model was previously on sale in the UK so it's not like a brand new model. The Astra Sports Tourer is still offered so at least Vauxhall have a single Estate in their line-up. Sales must have been really slow for them to drop it. There could also be some hidden savings as don't forget this was developed by GM and as they are now owned by PSA perhaps Vauxhall have to pay some sort of licensing fee to continue selling a GM model (just my own opinion I don't have any evidence of that).

Vauxhall and Opel have shared the same designs since the 1970’s. Vauxhall’s have, since then, been rebadged Opels. The last Vauxhall that was not an Opel was the Victor FE, launched in 1972. Why? GM wanted economies of scale.

Yes, in Brazil the Corolla is considered a medium sedan. It is also better than BRAZIL'S BEST SELLING SEDAN, the Chevrolet Onix Plus, a compact sedan. Now, let me tell you a case, on June 24th, CAOA CHERY started selling a new sedan in Brazil called Arrizo 6 and arrived making a splash, as it arrived with 570 liters of capacity in the trunk to become the MIDDLE SEDAN WITH THE LARGEST TRUNK IN BRAZIL, beauty, managed to impress, but arrived with intentions to take the Toyota Corolla out of the lead. It happens that it arrived with 5 centimeters less in the wheelbase, the Corolla is 2 meters and 70 centimeters which is the same measure as Nissan Sentra, Kia CERATO and Honda CIVIC, that is, CAOA CHERY says it arrived to fight with the Corolla but in fact it will be able to fight with the VOLKSWAGEN VIRTUS, which also has 2 meters and 65 centimeters of wheelbase. Summing up the whole story, CAOA Chery preferred to give more comfort to suitcases than to passengers.

Do not believe all rumors and claims that can be read everywhere, All Opel is, has been and always has contained 88-94% Opel technology, only single details and individual components have come from GM.
In fact, Opel has developed 50% of all GM technology intended for passenger cars worldwide, this is a well-kept secret that for American nationalist prestige reasons.
The last completely genuine Opel is the current Astra and this Insignia, the technology is completely superior to all PSA technology
With PSA, on the other hand, this changes completely, now in the future it is only details and individual components that are Opel, exactly the opposite.
The only thing that is completely Opel without outside interference is design, with the big reservation that Opel have to adapt to PSA technology and can not determine the size or main shape or construction of the bodies.
Which means that they are not as crashworthy as they were when Opel designed the bodies, but PSA took that task away from Opel because Opel's bodies were so sophisticated that they became expensive to manufacture and heavier than the French ones which do not have as many strong reinforcements.
