      What timing . I have an ugly brick fireplace that needs covering up. This is exactly what it needs. Only difference is my brick is a chipped brick surface so it’s REAL uneven and very deep mortar joints. Guess that means I have to probly do two base coats then a top coat with the lime.
      Thanks for the how to !!!
      Now I gotta fine that chem Tex here in ohio.@@StuccoPlastering

      Howdy Jeff, in the description, are two many other base coats that also can be applied that set just as fast. I like the Quikrete Greencor USA high-yield cement stucco as it has lots of lime and fine

They have a concrete for everything these days. There's Concrete Countertop mix, glass block mortar, high early strength, microcements, polymers.... etc.
    For instance, are all limes interchangeable? Can I use Type "S" lime for say, a tadelakt application? If so, what creates the binding? Will black soap or olive oil soap cause a chemical bond with type "S"? How do you keep finishes from cracking when they dry? Do Admixes plasticize and waterproof the finished product?

It seems as if you could almost sand this stuff as it resembles a chalk-like finish!! Thank you in advance!

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Howdy, if your happy with the finish then move to painting, this plaster is like Structo-Lite, which means it's complicated to make it smooth without the top dragging. I can make it smooth with a trowel and lots of water, but it is gluey, thus some folks don't understand how to make it smooth. This plaster hardens to strong to sandown.
      If it's not as perfect as you like you can apply any finish coat over it 👨‍🏫

    Hello Kirk, Enjoy your video clips of advice, reminds me of my days working for joe Meiswinkel in SF. I moved on to be a GC in Marin. If you catch this I have a Question, Do you know any reason why you couldn't add color to

      @StuccoPlastering  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dominick, I know of Meiswinkle; last I heard, my boy, Paul Gueteriz, was a foreman with them?
      Just so you know, any color can be added to any lime plaster or joint compound; I have done this many times at no cost, as I tell folks I can add color but can't guarantee it will come out that exact color.
      I know how to get the exact color, but I'm not willing to do it. However, I do have a video of how to do it. Some things in this trade are just too boring to repeat.

    • @StuccoPlastering

      There is no trick, the bricks must be cleaned then a bonding agent rolled or painted over the brick so that the plaster adheres to the painted surface. If you want to add plaster to any surface where there is none, you can add sheetrock.👨🏼‍🎨

      Morning the possibilities are endless as your only limited to your imagination. Tip, the Ekoplaster is very similar to Structo-Lite, which means it's gluey. One must keep the trowel wet when working with it. It can be left alone or indeed finished with many different finish materials.👨🏼‍🎨

      Evening Debbie, the fastest and easiest would be to use a twenty-minute joint compound. That's actually taping mud with accelerators. Clean your painted surface and paint with quikrete bonding agent, found at Lowes and Homedepot, for about 9 bucks a quart. Then you are ready to mix the joint compound and plaster it as smooth as a baby's butt.
      In this video, joint Compounds, Westpac Fast Set, or USG Easy Sand: th-cam.com/video/k7tE652qOH8a/w-d-xo.htmlt/ 2:26, I show the two types of gypsums, Westpac and easy sand. Cheers. 😉

      Hi, attach some 3.4 stucco flat mesh wire over the wood at least 3 inches past the wood in all directions, then stucco as usual, as Plaster or stucco won't adhere to bare wood. At least not for long.

    There was one thing missing in the video on lime-plastering a fireplace...there's no info (unless I missed it) on what wire mesh you used for corners, where to get it and how it is attached to the brick?
    If the brick is painted, does it need to be stripped before applying the lime plaster?
    My fireplace only goes 3/4 of the way to the ceiling. Do I brick it the rest of the way and then lime-plaster coat it? Or can I frame in wood, to the ceiling and plaster coat the wood?
    Any advice is gratefully appreciated!

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Howdy Truth Dude, If you want your fireplace to go to the ceiling, yes, frame it in the rest of the way. Why go to the ceiling? The corners are on, they are called, "stucco corner aid," sold at HD or any plastering yard such as westside building materials. No bonding agent was necessary as this was unpainted bricks, thus pouras, the plaster adheres to it by suction, as long as the existing is wet or moist. If your bricks or blocks are painted roll or paint on a bonding agent such as Plaster-Weld by Larsons or Quikrete. Cheers👨🏻‍🔬
