I'm here tonight to relish jim keltner because the friend that turned me on the little village jim keltner / john hiatt did me a hell of a favor and i know he appreciates it wherever he is
Some are almost too sensitive to be alive in our present world... let alone express beautiful music in a day that craves the cheap, superficial, and shoddy. The Lord preserves certain souls so they can be a comfort to others, who wish this world were over, and the new world God meant us for, had begun. The Lord sends his comforters in the mean time..
@@Flash023 Yes, that would have been a hand raiser and a question needing to be answered. Its now edited it. Hope that clarifies. God did not create us for this world, but for the one we will someday know, and fully understand the meaning of, "feeling and being at home." There are going to be joys of simply being alive. Joys that right now would seem like a foreign language to try to picture. God knows what He is doing. In this present age the Lord is "Draining the Swamp" of all evil that will become totally oblivious to us after He id done making His enemies into His footstool.
Anthony, you are after Jimi Hendrix one of my favorit guitar players. I myself play guitar from the age of 3, and am now 60. I love your jazz-guitar, it has got such a beautiful sound. And you are pretty freaky ..... I love you !
I love you all, and the way your sounds flow so perfectly together I get to go all the way back to the days of flowing glowing music for the soul thank you I can start this day in creativity just me and my guitar
Sunglasses CHECK, wristbands CHECK, Members Only jacket CHECK, a Republic east of Germany CZECH, ball cap CH@#! back the fuck up, Im not convinced that is the real Mr. Kettner. Good one, you almost had me!
I love at 10:14 where Keltner loses his grip on the stick with that clappy clam-thing on it and he's like "F*ck, where's a regular stick?" and doesn't miss a beat.
A nice version of a classic song. Kinda funny how I never knew the actual name of the song or author before stumbling onto this page although I've heard the melody many, many times since Carlos Santana has been quoting it in the closing of his song Europa for decades.
Great trio, never heard Keltner in this context - very open & flowing. But Goldings soloing on Ponte is really something special & daring - no flamboyant chops and patterns but makes an unforgettable statement
Anthony Wilson, Gustave Mahler, Thelonious Monk & Willy Nelson, rarely go where you think they are going to go. I can't think of another guitarist that is so free of cliches and guitar licks.

No swing and bad intonation between the keys and guitar! Chamber music and not Jazz! They are showing their roots but as we know they are chameleons musically...makes more money The truth always comes out! The real Jazz giants would walk out!
Labels do most good music a total disservice....Keltner is, in my opinion, an absolute master and plays it the way he feels it...like the gentleman said, not everything is meant to be swung, especially not most Brazillian music...and as for adapting to "make money" I seriously doubt anybody who plays the Blue Whale is going to get rich on a gig there
Listening to Jim Keltner just puts a smile on your heart doesn't it? Wonderful.
I'm sure that not many people know that he's "Buster Sidebury" from the Traveling Wilburys.
"The forgotten drummer" in that band.
Indeed he does. I just watched him try out a cymbal for a couple minutes, absolutely fantastic.

And this whole reminiscent thing genesis was the chuck lavelle article lately
Sounds like there's a story there... :-)
I just love Jim. Jim Keltner is one FINE, fine musician. As with all these fellas.

Genez thanks for the clarification, good insight there, not sure I have approached it from that perspective
I could watch Jim Keltner forever.
Wonderful version of Ponta de Areia, by the great Milton Nascimento. Beautiful 🙏🏼
I love Jim Keltner too, and videos with him are rare on youtube. Thanks!

Magic. Three sorcerers combining different powers to make this video an extreme experience. Thank You!
Si, es muy fantastico, Especialmente Jim Keltner, mi amigo desde Tulsa, y su familia,,,,,A mi corazòn
You can see where Jay Bellerose and Brian Blade get a lot of their approach. Jim makes everyone feel good. That's why I am part of his fan club.
Man, this is the second time I'm listening to this....in the groove and still digging it!
Beautiful in all ways possible.
Jim Keltner .... one of Larry Carlton's favorite drummers~!~

So awesome!

Great. And I love Criter and Guitari stuff! That's what it looks like anyway...
Dig it! The sound of a carved top jazz guitar........nice voicings, composition, playing, feel......
C.G.T. Ukiah, CA
Supremely musical.
FANTÁSTICO E CLASSE AAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!
Incredible...
Porque no haces más discos con este trío es una maravilla, es único y son los tres una sola voz, una conexión inmensa!
Love this
Great trio, never heard Keltner in this context - very open & flowing. But Goldings soloing on Ponte is really something special & daring - no flamboyant chops and patterns but makes an unforgettable statement
Loved it.
Carlos Santana has used this song (Milton Nascimento’s “Ponta de areia”) to finish his famous composition “Europa” when playing it live.
Very cool 😎
Keltner fucking rules
would love to meet Jim Keltner. I already met Larry haha
Very nice sound.
Sensacional!
An interesting tapestry if woven here, and it appeals to me..big time.
Missing to say the authors of the song "Ponta de Areia": Milton Nascimento and Fernando Brant, from Brazil.
Anthony Wilson, Gustave Mahler, Thelonious Monk & Willy Nelson, rarely go where you think they are going to go. I can't think of another guitarist that is so free of cliches and guitar licks.
Yeeees Keltner :-)
song.... by Milton Nascimento.... exciting!!!
Very hip and groovin'.
Agreed, sir.
Anyone know what that kit is that Jim is playing? Looks and sounds amazing, but so does anything Jim touches

Keltner is playing looks to be the new PDP Concept
If you like Keltner check out Tim Rowe. Promise you’ve never seen such an approach.
Clay
"Ponta de Areia", by Milton Nascimento
Esperanza Spalding sings and plays the tune as well
less than 3 minutes in beautiful 11 to go
YUK
anyone know what sort of axe and amp Anthony is playing here?
I believe it's a Monteleone Radio Flyer.
What drums are those that Keltner is playing? Gaither? Older?
DW
Paweł Zotscher those drums are not DW. Look like C&C.
@ 10:14 "Good, I was done with that thing any way..."
Not too bad.
All but that drone which ruined it.
Isn't Keltner the guy who murdered Bobby Whitlock's dog?
no, that's jimmy karstein
I was under the impression it was suicide.
This is years later, but I read this reply and looked it up, and I'm disgusted to find out what he did to that dog. Karstein died last spring. Oh well.
my cousin, jimmy, would NEVER do such a thing. He is the kindest, most honest person that you could come across.
The guitarist looks like he’s in pain
Dear God please let off that key
Boring

GTF outta here with your jazz snobbery. You do realize that this is a Brazilian tune? It's supposed to be straight not swung.
Labels do most good music a total disservice....Keltner is, in my opinion, an absolute master and plays it the way he feels it...like the gentleman said, not everything is meant to be swung, especially not most Brazillian music...and as for adapting to "make money" I seriously doubt anybody who plays the Blue Whale is going to get rich on a gig there
@traveling man you piss me off. talking about money on a blue whale show? gtfo here peasant you know nothing about industry.
Life is too short. Kick back and enjoy 😉
Keltner rules---but this track..meh.
Beautiful
