  • Grubs are not a huge problem for succulents but can sometimes become an issue and cause root, leaf and stem damage which gets mistaken for rot quite a bit.
In this video we'll have a look at what grubs are, how to spot them and control them.
Please be aware that some native bugs also produce grubs and, therefore, the best way to not have them attack is to prevent them from reaching your pots. Native bugs are very important to the ecosystem and are currently dying out in alarming numbers.

Thank you very much- so glad the videos are helpful ☺💚 I've been gardening with gran and around animals since i was in diapers. I guess i've been desensitised from a young age ☺ Spideys are the only animals that freak me out, though, i'm trying to get used to them by handling small ones- we have so many huge huntsmen hanging around the nursery, hiding in the plants & giving me mini heart attacks on the daily 😅😭

Thank you for the beautiful video Kat.
I would like to share some information about the so called Dia-Ta-Mae-Ceous earth.😊if ok.
I would mainly use it for the Succulents which are pest magnets especially.
Use the food grade Dia-Ta-Mae-Ceous earth as there are 2 types the other is not for plants.
it's great for the leaves of the rubin or affinis type since they have no farina , a rouge brush would do the job for dusting the leaves.(This earth sticks for a long time to the leaf.)
This technique will ebb of the farina so sprinkle it rather than dusting on the ones with farina.
You can spread it on the top of soil with the help of salt seller ,cover the whole top layer of the potting mix with the Earth and store the salt seller in a cool dry place after using it.
I really find the earth as a splendid deoder agent for soils and can be added while making the potting mix.
2 spoons for a 4 inch pot as far as mixing it with the potting mix.

U've given me some food for thoughts. Like, whether to kill off caterpillars eating at my lime tree and some succulents at d expense of having butterflies hovering ard my garden as frequent visitors. Jus dis morning, I'm afraid I beheaded a grasshopper (which had been munching at my lime tree leaves), being d culprit for my lime tree leaves having big holes, or jus leaf stumps left behind!!

I do understand- it is hard as they can really do some damage. I know it doesn't look pretty but i use a net for my fruit trees and veggies that can get eaten by caterpillars. If the butterflies/ moths can't get to them, they won't lay eggs 😀
