Very cool! Appreciate you documenting it. I had a stream by my house growing up - would kill for one now! The concrete jungle isn't all it's made out to be :)
Just started watching have a question, what is the volume the diameter math you use to determine the size of wheel and how much does width come in to play? Thank you
Hi Henry, thanks for a great series! My friend and I are planning a similar project at his house which happens to have a stream, mill building, (filled in) sluice pond and all, in Snowdonia. The stream has a similar head of 2.7m and I'd be really interested what flow you had on your stream and what sizing of generator you went for? We took an initial flow measurement this weekend using the bucket method but recorded an underwhelming 2.7l/s. I suspect that due to the geography of the area, the flow varies a lot with rainfall and snow melt on the mountains, so hopefully the average is significantly higher, and we can use the sluice pond to even the variation out.
Question: if there is already an existing sluice gate behind the one you installed (the one that you use to hold the diversion pipe) why are you installing this one? I'm guessing because it's too far back and you need one further forward to channel the water into the headrace?
Backyard Arsenal, Ya too bad mine is by a road and my neighbors might get mad...But my grandparents(yes they are still alive) Have a big stream that runs through that I could build a small dam in there. Oh snap I forgot they are environmentalist. Even though it will be designed for fish, yet fish don't even go in the stream!
What a beautiful peace of property!!

I can't believe you did all that concrete mixing in that little bucket. A lesser man would have dropped dead. Hats off to you sir.
love to see the completed micro hydro with the wheel
Just got recommended this lol i wish I had a stream like that through my property very cool tho cant wait to see all your videos
Hi Henry, thanks for a great series!
Good video Henry Walker and a great mason too!!!
insted of handmix or cement mixer, you could buy an electric drill and a mixer for that, its cheaper and more suited for home stuff..
Fine
Nicely constructed, I just wish I had a stream. Good job
Still an awesome job, nicely done!

Michael Waters welp....
Awesome video! Where's Ep 2?
Bro, this is so cool. Good job to you!

Will you have a cool looking mechanism for the wheel when the flow rate changes from season to season?
What is the insect population like?

Very Nice I would love to do this here in Chile but my sluce would have to be really long. I may have to use pipe instead. Jim

Where is this? The foliage tells me that it doesn't look like England, but I could be wrong.

It's simple. Just go to INPLIX page and make it yourself.
