Harry, I think I might have an idea to help solve the clips marking the leather when you glued the edges - Why not use old fashioned flat edge metal bulldog clips? you can then lined them with leather and then maybe add a bolt & wing nut through the handle bit to adjust the pressure/opening?

Like that purple stitching. We just built a phone case, proved to be a deceptively difficult project. The case was just too tight. With everything that we did, we just couldn't get the phone to slide in and out easily. We had to rebuild the entire thing and moved the stitch line 1/16 of an inch back, and the case was just usably tight, almost loose. Incredibly narrow margin of error.
Bushcraft Beats It is difficult to get it right....my case was a bit tight...I used a wooden 'bone folder and some steam to stretch it a bit...but realise that does not always work...still sounds like you got a very good end result.
One thing that I have learned with Veg tan is that you can dampen the leather. Use a plastic bag put the project in it & start forming it, let it set over night then finish it up. Use this As you see fit,
Muito boa ideia, capa para smartphone. Mas se envolvesse o aparelho com plástico filme e molhase o couro para dar a forma e deixasse secar não seria melhor? NorgMonster for thinner leather the 3mm might be better...but small stitches take a lot of time...as does hand stitching...there is around 3 hours of hand stitching on one of my premium belts! and an iPad case is quite large.
OK. I will try making one with the 3mm as the leather i have is around 1mm thick. The chisels are around £10 for a set on amazon so worth a try. If it takes me to long then i may consider getting the Brother DB2 B755 MARK 3 i found on ebay for £80.
