    Amazing !!!....this has helped me tremendously......i met a person that hurt me so deeply. I have never known such pain. They lied, cheated, and stole money. I had to go through this to learn to value mygelf more. I also learned the capacity to love without being loved. I suspect this individual is a Sociopath because they actually enjoyed the pain they caused and felt no remorse. I suspect they must be in such pain or suffered horrible trauma at a young age. Thank you for your words of wisdom....Joyce please make more videos. Many blessings....

      Hi Alma, thank you so much for watching my videos and for your comments. I am happy that you choose to forgive those who hurt you. Horrible things happen in life. The moment we forgive, we are able to see the lessons embedded in the event. For example, in your case, though you have suffered deeply and lost some money, you have learned valuable lessons, which will prevent you from losing money (possible more money) in the future. This event will also guide you to trust your instinct rather than follow wishful thinking (our old habit). In addition, Your sympathy and understanding toward those who cheated and stole from you actually bring you inner peace which nourish your body-mind.

      Yes these things you say are so true. Im learning to meditate and growing spiritually snd still have so much to learn. Its as if my soul yearns for this now. Ive been reading Buddhist teachings, Thich Nhat Hanh for example and many others. Trying to stay present and I have realized that the things that people do are not against me but the pain and reality they choose to live in. Im certain they suffer more. Interesting how pain and suffering can transform you to become compassionate. Very important lesson. My finances continue to improve and I hope to someday help others in need. Because it is in giving that we receive.....many blessings to you and thank you for your words of wisdom....

    • @JoyanceHall
      @JoyanceHall  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alma, you are right that it is in giving that we receive, for we cannot give what we do not have. I am happy for you that you are embarking on an inner journey and absorbing life wisdom from many teachings. It is my own experience that many are suffering and causing suffering simply because they do not have a choice. When we live solely in our mind, we are limited to its beliefs, judgements and habits. Only when we are awaken to our true nature (pure awareness) that we can choose to use or ignore or change our deep-rooted mind patterns, for our mind then is considered as a useful tool but not a master to us. In this regard, since they do not know what they do, there is nothing to forgive. We simply learn our lessons as life unfolds...

    • @almamia229
      @almamia229 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes, the mind plays tricks. Im learning know to differentiate between the thoughts and the connection to spirit. When you say pure awareness, is that the present moment?

    • @JoyanceHall
      @JoyanceHall  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is my experience that pure awareness is the present moment, and it is the "unmanifested", inner Being, true nature, life itself, etc. Our true nature is this pure or universal awareness or the present moment because it is ever present and never changes. Our thought is a manifested form of this pure awareness but not the pure awareness itself. It comes and goes. It is our own experience that we are ever and choicelessly aware, and our awareness is here prior, in between, and after the arising and disappearing of thoughts and emotions. Hope this makes sense. ❤️

    I loved that way you put it - "cutting our lives short" by not experiencing the new day (instead, reliving past memories). I recently had this revelation as well - I noticed that when my mind left where I was and instead obsessed on things that did/didn't happen, my experience of life was dulled and unengaging even when I was doing things I enjoy. This affirms the thing you said in your intro - that we let go not for others but really, for ourselves

    I had a person so evil steal everything of value to me including my family

    • @JoyanceHall
      @JoyanceHall  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hi Regina, it is difficult to forgive someone who stole everything of value from you and your family. The irony is that we must forgive because otherwise we not only suffer from our material loss but also the subsequent mental turmoil caused by such unfortune event. And the later can cause damage to our health. In your case, you may try to forgive your non-forgiveness. The moment you feel anger toward this person, immediately close your eyes and forgive your non-forgiveness. You may find out that, the moment you peacefully accept your own humanness, your angry thoughts lose their emotional heaviness. In so doing, you retain your inner peace and break the cycle of your emotional suffering. I hope this makes sense to you.

    Thank yoy Joyance..for you beautiful presentation of forgiveness..and to see ut this way.. My issue is I have had someone in my life I cared about a friend..who has a pattern of doing the same behavior to me over and over
    I would forgive 7 x77. She violated my trust..disrespected my time ..after many times as speaking to her ..falls on deaf ears. Days s orry but dies not see the wrong or need to ask for me for forgiveness
    Is she was truly sorry she would stop doing this.
    The lesson is I allowed her back into my life
    I have forgiven her letting gp of a relationship with her
    She also has lied to me to often
    Broken trust
    I think this is the lesson
    I cannot change another and persons whi continue to habitually break trust is not repentant .. i must set a limit
    I am praying for her
    God Bless you..appreciate your lesson

    Thank you for the video. I love your wardrobe! Does what you are wearing have a kind of name? It's beautiful. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video....but forgiveness is still so HARD sometimes. For example, I can forgive a stranger...an asshole who yells, or is racist, or even a male who is sexist.... My trouble comes from my "family". They I have been hurt by them the worst and it's so toxic and psychological (I was never physically abused), it was pure emotional abuse/oppression... How the hell can I forgive those damn people and 'let go'..? I'm going to do some guided meditations for letting go and see what comes of it too..

    • @JoyanceHall
      @JoyanceHall  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your experience and perspectives. The dress is of Chinese traditional style. I found it beautiful. Thanks for confirming it. I agree with you, for it is also my experience that it is not easy to forgive family members. The irony is that, in order to free ourselves from others' emotional abuse, we must forgive them. Often, we cannot forgive because we think they shouldn't have said that or they should have known better not to oppress their loved ones. Since they do and will not change, we find ourselves unable to forgive. To me, we will be at peace when we acknowledge who they are without wanting them to change. If they are emotional abusers, we simply acknowledge them. Once we accept who they are, forgiveness is no longer needed. Another way to find forgiveness is to see clearly that, if we can forgive, they are the ones that actually suffer. This is because our emotion cannot be separately obtained or given. We cannot give anything to others without having it first. If they express hatred, they have already suffered from it. If we do not take their words seriously, they are the sole sufferers. Hence, we forgive them because we choose not to suffer and because they have truly suffered. I hope this can help.

    Hi Joyance, can we forgive someone forever? Thanks!

    • @JoyanceHall
      @JoyanceHall  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Roger, thanks for your question. I am not sure we can forgive someone forever. To me, forgiveness is a conscious choice we make on each moment of our life. This is because our memories of what has happened will still come up now and then, and we may habitually identify with our old beliefs under different situations. That is why sometimes we find ourselves forgiving others but other times resenting them again. There is nothing wrong with these unforgiving moments. Whenever we become aware of our resentment, we consciously go through these steps again until deep peace flows forth.

      Hi Aniyah, you are not alone. Many of us find it difficult to forgive from time to time. In such cases, we must forgive ourselves for not being able to forgive. When we feel our compassion to ourselves, it may extend to others. And when we accept our own inability, we may find it easier to accept others' inability as well.

    Hello Joyance,
    I would like to take this opportunity to recommend a book on the path of Mindfulness. It is written by Thich Nhat Hanh called, Peace Is Every Step. He is a great spiritual leader that can help us all live in peace.
    Thank you for allowing viewers to share and comment.
