Yes it was! The Future Listening album really lived up to its title. It had a lot of influences that were around at the time, but it put them together in a way that shifted the tone for down-tempo loungy dance for the rest of the decade - by introducing the Brazilian vibe and Bebel Gilberto, providing the source for J Dilla/Tribe Called Quest's Find A Way, etc.
@chris parker Have you heard the rest of the album? Of course it had influences from other decades, but the fusion of elements was ground-breaking. And I don't see the Summer Madness connection.
