The comments lately have been hilarious. This was filmed way back in 2009 so you can do the math and figure out how old the kid is now. He wanted to ride from what I heard but was mad because the Grandpa wouldn’t get him something he wanted. So he then throws a fit as you can all see and doesn’t want to ride because of that. It’s not that he was scared of the ride - it’s because he didn’t get what he wanted.

100%. People can call me a prune or whatever they want. But having a 7 year old with autism this is extremely heartbreaking to watch. Clearly he wanted to ride it initially but something genuinely scared him as he got closer. It’s not a tantrum. It’s fight or flight response. It’s sad to see these comments and it’s why I hate being in public places with my autistic son with people who don’t get it. These grandparents I’m hoping aren’t his normal caretakers. If so this kid I’m sure has had a lot of traumatic experiences. All this did was ensure he will never ride anything similar again. Might never even go to a theme park again.

When I was a kid and scared of The Tower of Terror in the line, my parents told me how they wouldn't have the ride built if I could die. That's a better tactic than dragging my ass into the seat.
My 24 year old who is special went on this at the end of 2021 for the first time. We got all belted in and right before the lights went down, she says "ohh, i don't think I want to do this anymore". We said, "Ohh, sorry, seatbelts are locked". And up we went, haha. She loved it :)
The kid deserves better. Disneyland is supposed to be a fun place and people are ruining it by physically moving someone on the ride who is having a bad day and just wants to be left alone and it sounded like he needed a minute to think about it and the man just won’t give him a damn minute! Holy crap, I feel bad for that kid. The man just doesn’t give him time because he is too impatient to even be kind to him and give him a minute. He’s probably sad and he wanted to make himself feel better by having alone time and the man is just losing his mind! Disneyland is a fun place and people are ruining it with people giving other people a sad time. I wish he could have a good time at Disney. Everyone deserves a good time when they are on a fun trip!
The poor kid is not having a temper tantrum...he's obviously scared. This video reminds me when I chewed out my crying 10 year old son for not wanting to jump off a tall rock into the ocean like his younger brother. Even now I am ashamed of what I did and how I must have made him feel. It was almost 20 years ago.
I got the full context of this situation and this doesn't show the whole thing. apparently the kid was throwing a fit because his grandfather didn't buy him something and this was all because of that.
Kid’s just scared. That said, I rode that ride recently and I thought the “don’t ride this if you’re afraid of heights” warning starring David Puddy was a bit much. Probably scared the kid. I can also understand standing in line forever and having the kid change their mind last second.
I have some advice for those who plan on taking their kids to any theme park: if your kid doesn't want to go on a ride, DON'T FORCE HIM to go! Tantrums like this actually delay the dispatch of a ride (or even back up the track if it's a tracked ride).
Which is why Disneyland and Walt Disney World need to take some extreme measures, like BANNING kids from entering the parks for a few days to age 13 if you are gonna make a crying tantrum. I can't tell you how many times Mom and I had to deal with screaming spoiled brats while waiting in queue lines for attractions like (shudder) Stitch's Not-So-Great Escape. There was this girl of around 10 years old throwing a tantrum just like this kid is doing. (Mom gently told me that even I was like that.) I have some advice for those who plan on taking their kids to any theme park: Tantrums like this actually delay the dispatch of a ride (or even back up the track if it's a tracked ride). Best solution would be to outright BAN families with bratty kids from entering the park, at least for a few days to age 13 for a cooldown period (trust me, I think Mickey and Minnie want kids too someday, and THEY will need to teach their kids how to behave in public the same way too).
@@Bradly105 Never knew that. I'm always wondering why parents bring young, crying, screaming kids there. They're the ones who ruin it for those of us who want to enjoy it without being hit by strollers and smelling dirty diapers. These kids are too young to be there and can't enjoy it. Leave them home!
@@Angie2343 What you're saying is extreme.....unrealistic, uncalled for, and inconvenient for the price you pay. If a kid doesn't want to go on a ride because they're scared.....a staff member can take care of the child while the others go on.....why do you want to punish the family as a whole? It's not like when the kid cools down it won't happen again.......you have to communicate with each other.....and understand when enough is enough....not torture the child emotionally.
I feel bad for that little boy here. If your child doesn't want to go on certain rides, DO NOT force them to go on them!!! It can cause serious harm to the child's mental and emotional health and well-being on the long run.
When I was about 7 years old, my pops forced me onto the Back to the Future Ride at Universal Studios. I was terrified, I screamed and cried the whole time. Years later, I watched the entire trilogy and fell in love with it. Shortly thereafter, we all took another vacation to Universal Studios again and I eagerly went on the BTTF ride again... and had a great time. Obviously, my experience isn't representative of the whole, but now that the BTTF ride is gone... I'm glad that I got to experience it twice. What was originally a terrifying childhood memory for me literally became an exciting and thrilling one.
That’s how I felt about Space Mountain. I didn’t want to go on as a child, but I had to. I didn’t throw a tantrum though. And I ended up loving it once I was on. Face fears.
They should have given this kid a choice whether to ride it or not. This reminds me of a time my parents tried to get me to ride something I didn’t want to.
When my dad took me to Disney when I was a kid I would throw fits like this but end the end I would listen to him and go on the ride. I’m so happy he made me do it all cause it created awesome memories and made me face my fears as a kid

I remember being a child and having to be forced onto rides I didn't want to go on. (Which resulted in a fit/tantrum.) It was scary/terrifying for me. I had and still have a fear of heights/moving rides. I honestly know what this kid is going through. Don't be quick to judge. Poor kid.
@@beanybabyrabie Doesn't have to be real to feel it - for example, graviational insecurity (not a fear of heights, but a spatial issue I'd describe as a disconnect between your brain, and your positioning, and whether or not falling is imminent). When playing the original Half-Life game, or many other games that involve falling from great height, I can feel that tingling of if I were actually falling.
This reminds me of how my brother talks me to going on rides. He made me go on the new king Kong ride at universal. In line I was really scared but he said King Kong is just a fat gorrila who plays bongos. Then I had a great time on that ride. I hope that kid liked the ride. Also I'm 11 so really I'm just a big baby.
Ok, these parents should know this!!! Just because kids are too scared to ride at Disney land dosent mean you should say “I DoNt CaRe, YoU aRe NoT sCaReD yOuLl LoVe It” and force him on the ride or forcing him to do something that he dosent want to, this is torture, children don’t get to make decisions like a human being so they need to get used to it, if thier kids say no then the answer is no. Children are human beings like us, treat them like it
Clearly those laughing or making fun of him have never had a child with autism or on the spectrum. It’s not a “tantrum”. He’s genuinely afraid. And sometimes they don’t know they’re scared until the last minute. You don’t force them to do it anyway. All you’re doing is making sure they’ll never ride a similar ride ever again. Really sad to see. Yeah I feel bad for the grandparents. But only because they don’t understand how to handle him.
If you listen, he's afraid of heights. Grandpa escalated the situation, not the kid. It's a shame WDW and DL CMs can't intervene. Grandpa needed a time out.
You mean grampa? The parents are probably somewhere else and were like: " hey we have to go to the bathroom. Can you watch him before the ride starts? " Like this guy was forcing him. Some say " blame the kid, they're spoiled brats " how about blame the guardian who's forcing the kid to do it? Cause if they continue to force the child to do it, despite being scared. The child will continue to scream and cry, thus ruining the experience for others.

You need to teach kids that there’s nothing to be scared of you can just allow them to be sacred of everything in this world it’s not cruel his not beating the child he just wants to show him it’s not scary
I work as a ride operator at Transformers The Ride 3D at Universal Studios Hollywood and this type of force is becoming quite common nowadays. 3 years on the job and this is what I see first hand. When a child doesn’t want to go on a ride because of fear of some elements to it whether it be heights, drops, speed, fire, water, etc, don’t let them on the ride. I was lucky enough to have parents that let me face my fears on my own terms. Forcing a child to get on a ride while ignoring their l pleads to not get on is just Irresponsible and ignorant of you. This type of action can cause long term mental disorders and trauma effects.
i remember not wanting to go on a rollercoaster as a kid but my parents forced me and even now as a 23 year old male adult i had an anxiety attack on the cobra which is a mild ride at six flags
It must be written as the foremost rule after safety: forcing or otherwise coercing someone onto a ride that could be torture for them (e.g. sensory overload of negative Gs) can NEVER be tolerated. All Ride Operators must prevent such unwilling people from being boarded.

It’s not like he’s crying over homework or something. That is one of the most painful cries I have heard and it makes me very angry at whoever made him ride.

The kid deserves better.
(Mom gently told me that even I was like that.)
I have some advice for those who plan on taking their kids to any theme park: Tantrums like this actually delay the dispatch of a ride (or even back up the track if it's a tracked ride). Best solution would be to outright BAN families with bratty kids from entering the park, at least for a few days to age 13 for a cooldown period (trust me, I think Mickey and Minnie want kids too someday, and THEY will need to teach their kids how to behave in public the same way too).
Angie2343 you do know they have a daycare, right?
That’s not advice, that’s just common sense.

You can't force a child to to something like this, this is a litteral circumstance the child wouldn't be able to do

Forcing a child to get on a ride while ignoring their l pleads to not get on is just
Irresponsible and ignorant of you. This type of action can cause long term mental disorders and trauma effects.
