Merry Christmas, Captain. Hey, speaking of diversity. You probably don’t remember, but you questioned why people disliked the diversity in The Ring’s of Power. I think you miss interpreted what fans were saying. While yes you are right that some races could’ve migrated it still doesn’t explain how small, isolationist cultures like the Hobbits, Dwarves and so on could have multiple people with different skin tones.
I was waiting the whole video for the Phoenix Wright mention, lol. When I think of Christmas in video games, that’s the first thing that comes to mind.
1:05 On the topic of Mithra, the place where people would convene to worship said god was called a Mithraeum. So if you ever find yourself surrounded by a horde of Mythra fans, just know you've accidentally stumbled into a Mythraeum, and walk away s l o w l y . In other news, I really wish I had Xenoblade-themed wrapping paper.
I'm so happy to watch another Captain Astronaut video!! ☺️ Love these fun video essays, your scripting is always a treat!! Hope you have a Merry Christmas gamer! Don't forget the wrapping paper!
great video!! my favorite Christmas game is VA-11 HALL-A; the whole game takes place in December and features the celebration of "Mega Christmas", an even more consumerist black hole of capitalism, perfect for the cyberpunk setting of the game! Also it's just a REALLY good game lol
Xmas Shooting - Scramble!! is a bullet hell game where you play as Santa Claus, if "Santa Claus" were just a title given to an anime rabbit girl named Aru. Some Grinch stole her presents just as soon as she could get wrapping paper on 'em, and it's up to you to retrieve your missing presents in time for Christmas morning. It's a shorter game, but still a good time, if a *ridonkulously* difficult one. It's a spiritual sibling to QP Shooting - Dangerous!!, which I'd recommend playing first to get a feel for its systems before next Christmas.
It's funny because much-maligned Forspoken also starts on/around Christmas and captures the depressing feeling of Christmas when you're poor and/or lonely perfectly -_- i feel the same way about that game as Captain feels about Arkham Origins! I love the game the characters and even the world and story and the abilities and combat are so fun
Oh my gosh, I had no idea about the older Animal Crossing games' interactions with Jingle (probably because I was a New Leaf peep) and being able to trick him into giving you a bunch of special furniture, that's cursed and funny ;u; Think of all the wrapping paper he must be going through...
That Elf bowling game looks hilarious. Reminds me of how GTA 1 and 2 got their initial fan following. There's just something super-fun about doing inappropriate things in a video game. :) (Great vid, btw.)
Real Talk: They should’ve ported over Arkham Origins to Switch instead of Arkham Knight. If anything, it would’ve run better on the system. It’d be a much better Switch port to cover in wrapping paper for your loved ones.
Your explanation on the origins of Christmas led to me going down an extensive online rabbit hole of the folgers inc*st commercial for 20 minutes… thank you and Merry Christmas Captain Astronaut🎄
Fans of Elite Beat Agents ...... thats right..... that depressing as frick Christmas level that comes out of nowhere, smacks you in the throat, and makes you feel like tearing up wrapping paper with your bare teeth... MAN Also a huge fan of the Japan-only Ouendan 2's third bonus level, which i happened to unlock on Christmas night 🙈 no idea what theyre saying but that song slaps. Ouendan: the rhythm game series that will make you cry once per game. Heh heh almost Christmas means it wasnt Christmas... very fun theme of video 💜
Just want to point out in FF14 now there is event for another santa outfit that looks better and dyes better than the one you showcase in your video Also in old fashion FOMO you have time to grab it until December 31st
man i live on the 50th parallel and let me tell you we only rarely have snow at christmas. ironically we sometimes get snow in november or early december but for some reason late december? no
Great vid! I didn't know there were that many games set around Christmas, and I haven't thought about Elf Bowling in years... Though it made me remember a Christmas game I like, Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star... Yes, that Hatoful Boyfriend, the pigeon dating game lol. Holiday Star is a sort of alternate universe continuation of the original, focusing on linear stories set around Christmas time rather than being a crazy branching otome. It's got a lot of charm and some fun writing but I can't recommend it if you haven't played the original since it spoils some plot twits and secrets ;) (wrapping paper!)
I hate christmas and wrapping paper and also hate all winter themed levels because i spend so much of the year being cold anyway, but I still watched this video so uh happy holidays mr spaceman i guess
Just wanna say that I’m thankful for all this great content Mr. Spaceman, looking forward to more in the bleak wasteland that is January. Oh and sidebar: thank you for using Pursuit ~ Keep Pressing On, it’s one of my favorite pursuit themes from one of my more favorite games. Only real ones know about it so ty.
Answer to the is The Nightmare Before Christmas a Christmas or Halloween movie: It’s a November 1st movie. The movie starts on November 1st and it’s about the lead up to Christmas and inevitable catastrophe that happens every Christmas year.
Wrapping Paper! I’m kinda surprised you mentioned DKC 3 and not Banjo Kazooie or Diddy Kong Racing and their obvious Christmas References lol. Those games have some real Christmasy vibes in some levels.
Wrapping Paper The best Christmas game IMO is Blue Stinger on SEGA Dreamcast. It’s set between 24/25 December, the whole island is decorated throughout the game and there’s a long section right at the start that takes you all across the entire shopping mall looking for PenPen stamps (a cameo of another Dreamcast game) with festive music playing. But then again it’s also a survival horror so could fall into the Halloween / Christmas hybrid thing. Or is it? I’ve always found this game goofy rather than scary and I’m no sure if it was intended or not.
Christmas doesn't "get out of the way" 😅 The "twelve days of Christmas" START on Christmas day, concluding on January 6th with Little Christmas, or Women's Christmas, celebrated like mother's day in Ireland, and it is the main gift giving day in parts of Europe. There's 24 days of Advent, and 12 days of Christmas- with New Year's marking the midpoint of Christmas as a period.
I really dislike seasonal events like christmas themed ones. The rewards are always so bad. Also nice historical recollection at the beginning, was cool Wrapping paper
No no no, Christmas starts already end of August / beginning of September because that's the time when shops start selling the christmas-related foods again (at least here in Germany^^)
2:30 sigh Would people ever stop going on about churches not paying taxes? Catholic priests have to go undergo a vow of poverty ya know. 3:43 In September? Agh and I thought things had gotten bad in Ireland with Christmas stuff up even slightly before Halloween had even come.
The greatest game of all time Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is seemingly set during christmas season. There's a christmas tree and decoration in Lynne's appartment and snow in a few outdoors locations! That's it. It's not relevant to the story at all and the characters never even acknowledge it. But I appreciate this pretty incidental use of christmas as a background element to add some flavor.
I’m joining the war on christmas on the side of I typed that out but I legitimately don’t know who freaks think is getting rid of christmas. are they just being antisemitic? is it just that again?
Thanks for watching! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

From missing Black history month to being early to Christmas, Astro has come a long way
I'm improving exponentially lol
Hmmm
Why be divisive? History is history.
he didnt missed black history month because every month is black history month
@REAL
Christmas has 2 types of celebrations, wholesome family activities and capitalism infinite money exploit.

Every pokemon game is a Christmas game when Delibird graces us with its presence
Pay me. Merry Christmas
There's a Christmas YUNAKA?! Time to download FEH right now!!!
Down Vasko, DOWN!!
Have a happy whatever the heck you celebrate guys.
I am watching this on Christmas eve. Meaning it's almost Christmas. But almost Christmas means it wasn't Christmas!
I was waiting the whole video for the Phoenix Wright mention, lol. When I think of Christmas in video games, that’s the first thing that comes to mind.

Also, shenmu is kinda a Christmas game, too. It takes place in December, and they decorate it around Christmas
very cool of you to put deep dive in the title and not have the video be 1+ hours long
Yeah it's a deep dive, not a long dive - the video did just the right amount of explaining.
Out of wrapping paper. Merry ding-dong to all 🎄

“Thanksgiving at halftime” goes crazy
Amidst all the holiday sales and wrapping paper, you'd think there'd be more christmas trains in games. Oh well. Another day, another sleigh!

The best Christmas gift is one last Astronaut video for the year ❤
10 bucks says this script is from last year! ;P
Shoutout to Diddy Kong Racing where all the music for the courses on Snowflake Mountain reference various Christmas songs.
the true god of christmas.... wrapping paper
PALESTINIAN MAN JESUS YEAHHHH 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸 ok good video. I would wrap it in wrapping paper because it is a gift

Your"Ho Ho Hoe" for the Bayonetta segment intro was on point 😂
Bayo2 is 100% the best Christmas game change my mind.
WRAPPING PAPER that one level in Banjo Kazooie is a great Christmas themed level
Thank god for Halloween holding Christmas back from seeping into October
thank you for this aweosome present Captain

Answer to the is The Nightmare Before Christmas a Christmas or Halloween movie:
It’s a November 1st movie. The movie starts on November 1st and it’s about the lead up to Christmas and inevitable catastrophe that happens every Christmas year.
The best part about the elf bowling movie is that the villain is voiced by Tom Kenny who sings the song about how cool slavery is
Missing Black History to celebrating Christmas early, this is what a true Space Astronaut does for a husky
