I stopped buying Chanel since years ago as well because of the declining quality. And these days you actually have to pay for repairs at Chanel even for a fairly recent purchase (1-2 years). Their repair quotations are also usually in the hundred range for COSTUME jewellery. Imagine paying $100 to replace 1 crystal that fell off your earrings because they didn't make it well. I personally find that a little ridiculous.
I dislike Chanel's attitude towards its customers, the lack of quality and the stupid prices. I also don't pay that sort of money for costume jewelry. I can't blame you for stepping away from them.
@@ColourfulNoir except the classic bags’ dust bags are in white, other dust bags are in black which may actually increase the risk of colour transfer of a light coloured bag. The SA told me to be aware of this!
I have to say this girl. You are a good role model to all girls, ladies, young and adults. Minimalism and not go with all d hype of these youtubers buying bags after bags making ladies go and buy them all as well. Personally, i have one chanel flap which i dont use than much (never used for months now). And intend to only have 1chanel piece and 1lv bag and thats all.
Same here. I no longer crave every It bag that comes to the market. Ever since going vegan, I realised how many things we hoard are not a necessity. I prefer keeping things simple and putting the money saved into investments, properties and into my son’s education.
In a world that has radically been changed by a virus that caused us to lose loved ones, not be able to say goodbye to others, lockdowns, continued resurgence of the virus and even toilet paper shortages, Chanel and other luxury goods have begun to seem really irrelevant. I won’t be adding anything else to my collection for a long time. Love your Chanel pieces.
Not really, i think it promoted online shopping 🛍 more than anything. As a result, we are seeing those frequent price increases due to insane demand. Reselling business are blooming too
I agree with you too. My desire to add new pieces have dramatically decreased in the last year. Luxury pieces = time . My time is more precious than any luxury items.
Chanel has turned into a money grab, while pumping out bags, withholding certain bags, playing waitlist games, crazy price increases while the quality and customer service experience declines. Unfortunately the bag has become average and the new releases lost the "special" factor. Plus, I will not pay over retail for their bags. Ridiculous!
I feel the same way about Chanel. I used to love the brand, however, I have been turned off from the Frequent rapid price increases, declining quality. I am ok with admiring from afar.
Agree with all points, I also find now, the customer service leaves more to be desired. The Chanel boutique experience feels much less luxurious than it used to, for much higher prices.
I know what you mean! I think LV and Chanel stores are always so busy that they can't always devote too much time to any particular customer (unless if you're a regular). With Louis Vuitton, we quite often have to line up to get in and the service isn't as personal like it used to be anymore xx
Yes, I must say the customer service sucks. I received an email informing me to call the number they gave in the email to make an appointment to collect my bag which I sent in for repair. I tried calling and calling several times a day for consecutively a few days but to no avail. Nobody picks up the calls. Then I went down to the boutique showing them the email to collect my bag and I was told to join the queue. I asked approximately how long I would have to queue and was brushed off with a rude "We don't know." I told the guy at the door of my many attempts at calling the boutique to make an appointment but to no avail. He again brushed me off with another "I don't know". I'm appalled Chanel has such bad customer service. This is also the reason I'm not buying Chanel again on top of its crazy prices
My biggest prob with Chanel is the lack of online presence and buying online option. That’s the reason why I have LV bags more than Chanel (I have the jumbo classic flap). I live away from the main stores and frankly I do a lot of research and am happy to order online. And with Chanel you can’t do that and it annoys me
Agreed! I called them once and they said you had to have at least one purchase from boutiques then you can call and have future purchases shipped to you. I don’t quite understand what’s the point. I was just buying earrings and shoes LOL. I’ve purchased Hermès shoes online without any store purchase prior.
@@lwy8887 same! I called about two weeks ago wanting to purchase shoes and earrings for my 40th birthday. The lady told me the same exact thing. I don’t think I’ll ever purchase Chanel. It’s giving very snobby and that doesn’t fit my personality at all. It’s a no for me.
I really hate how Chanel doesn't sell online. I live in a suburban area. I have a Nordstrom nearby, but they don't sell Chanel in this particular store (except for makeup/fragrance). The closest department store that sells Chanel bags is hundreds of miles away. A Chanel boutique? Even farther.
@@sakuraflower7245 you can but you have to buy it from a sales associate after you have a “purchase history”. It’s quite confusing to me as well. I finally established the purchase history via shopping at Neiman marcus. They don’t care how much u spend, they just want you to buy something in person for the first time. After that, you can contact a SA and do the transaction electronically. If you travel somewhere, hop in a boutique or Neiman marcus/saks and just buy something small. That should set you up 👍🏼
I’m 26 and only now starting to make the income that would make something like designer bags feasible. I’ve purchased a few things here and there... most recently bought a Chanel o case. What I found is that they don’t actually want me as a customer lol. Their CSRs were quite rude and unresponsive to my inquiries. It was a bit disheartening considering of all the brands I could have saved up for, I chose them :(
I guess if you just buy their slgs n no proper bags, they see you as a small customer and not in their priority list to entertain. Unless you buy many slgs, accessories, etc seasons after seasons, they might change their opinion of you as a customer. Sad but true..
I think over time, Chanel has really displayed a clear disdain for their own clientele & that’s a recipe for disaster regarding a company’s approach to PR & the potential future for the company. There’s always a possibility for them to turn it around & reevaluate their approach but until then, they’re actively & “seemingly” deliberately alienating many of their customers.
True. I purchased a cream from Chanel & they put the wrong box in the bag. I opened it at home only to realize it was the wrong item. They refused to exchange it because it was opened & treated me so rudely in store. On the flipside, I purchased an awesome bag from LV that I've used everyday for the past 2 years. It needed a new handle & zippers due to wear & tear. Fully expecting to have to pay for the service I took the bag to LV & they sent it off for all of the repairs at $0 cost to me. The service experience was completely night & day.
@@ellismhosei Wow, that is quite the LV testimonial. And on the moisturizer. That is just weird and crazy. I thought makeup/skin care items were always returnable on anything except maybe Hot Topic and Wet & Wild from the Dollar Store. And they didn't even sell you the right product? Even if you used it for a week and it made your skin break out in hives, you should be able to get a refund. Makeup just doesn't cost that much money to manufacture. Most of the cost is packaging. That is penny wise and dollar foolish of them.
I feel the same. Chanel is becoming like fast fashion too, it's everywhere, despite the prices now. I got the pieces I want and it's enough for me. Don't think I will add more ❤️
I 💯 agree. My Chanel collection is coming to a halt since I’m not the clientele they want (I don’t buy a lot) and I refuse to chase a bag. Your Birkin 25 is adorable. ❤️
Thankyou for saying out loud what most of us feel, but are hesitant to come to terms with. I am glad for the sensible and beneficial content that you put out. I have never made profits on my bags when I sold them; sadly, chanel included. I was deluded into the whole 'investment' aspect of bags. Now I will only pick up a few lust pieces from the preloved market at a suitable price and with particular specs.
Absolutely! Investment pieces for me are simply those I wear the most, I certainly don't rely on them to generate any profit. I'm so happy you liked my video xx
I was pretty obsessed with all things Chanel for YEARS...two decades to be exact. Now I'm done with Chanel. I still enjoy my bags (I have 5 now, used to have 7), shoes (I have a decent shoe/boot collection), ready to wear, SLGs, and some costume jewelry, but I won't buy any more. The pricing is too insane for me now. I just can't justify the prices. I also got disillusioned BIG time with their costume jewelry, which is terrible quality. The only thing I'll still buy will be their shoes...somehow that's the only thing I still love buying.
TH-cam just offered me this video and I’m in love with your way of explaining how you think about buying handbags. I saw many videos about handbag collections and unboxings but nobody explained why they like and buy so many bags. Your video was the first I saw that said that it doesn’t have to be amazing only because of the brand and that it accually may have some negatives. Thank you for your point of view, it was so calming to listen to your voice ❤️
Your Chanel collection is perfect, it suits you and I think anyone would be lucky to have your well thought out pieces! I own one bag and I'm content with that. Loved your video!
I've always loved Chanel since I was a kid before I even knew what luxury is (the black-and-white aesthetic and androgynous image just sits so well with me). Today, I've got my dream bag, the 2.55 and the long wallet - and that's enough for me. My husband got me the classic flap two years ago as a wedding gift (I love the flap too but since the 2.55 and flap are pretty similar I didn't bother to get one on my own), and eversince then I never visited the Chanel store unless it's for maintenance. I think if you're the type of person who goes with the minimalist approach and prefer to buy bags that suits your lifestyle instead of a trend piece, your luxury bag collection would actually be pretty small. Mine is pretty much complete, but I do have a soft spot for luxury bags and still like to listen to other people's experiences on their bags. I've always loved the Lady Dior. It looks so elegant and classy, but I never bothered to save for one because it doesn't fit my lifestyle and outfits. But I do get excited when I see someone with a Lady Dior (or any other classic bags for that matters) and will try to ask them about their experience with the bag. Classic handbags are just so beautiful and I love how people just light up when they talk about a bag they love.
Hi Eileen! Just stumbled across your channel and I have to say a big thank you as I have just recently started getting into Chanel and started my collection and was slowly consumed by the FOMO trend as the recent price increases and the exclusive store policy making the brand less accessible for ordinary customers. I am so happy to have found you here and listened to your words of wisdom before my savings all go towards Chanel items that aren’t necessary or worth the investment .
I thought it was just me that took a step back and realized how Chanel’s prices are increasing like there’s no tomorrow. I was looking on their handbags and I thought their prices are so close with Hermes. I did not research for the quality recently since I have decided to let Chanel go but this video really helps a lot. I love LV and Gucci.
I love that you keep it real. Many people aspire to luxury and it'a good to be open about why that is and honestly if you even want to save your money to spend on a company that doesn't even want or respect you as a person. While I love beautiful things, and will continue to buy from small companies that make handmade items, I'm over luxury. Luxury is about exclusivity and elevating yourself above others in many ways. Would I wear and love a Chanel bag if it was given to me, sure, but I am not going to put in a lot of money that is valuable to me, to give it to a company that doesn't even believe I am worthy to carry their product. I am intelligent person who practices and enjoys the arts, I don't need a luxury company to validate my professionalism, style, or worth.
I still enjoy Chanel and love the timeless aspect, but I agree it is not the best value for money. This really isn’t their focus as a brand. Hermes cannot be beat with quality, but the aesthetics of the two brands are completely different. I like them for different outfits and activities.
Completely agree. If they don’t want to list on website and they want impulse buying- or if they are trying to become the new Hermès on game playing- I’m out. Their bags are beautiful but also excessively hyped. There are plenty of brands which give a classic look such as ysl for far less and are equally timeless. Also these brands are becoming close to fast fashion . I like to look at what I buy as pieces of creative art- not just to fit in and the fomo factor. And if I’m spending money- I want to use it- I don’t really believe that any bag is an investment in money- it’s an investment in your wardrobe
I really loved this video. I think you are 100% right. I went off Louis Vuitton because I can’t even get what I want cause it’s always unavailable but it’s also disappointing to see so many products come out and the quality dropped too. I really really want a Chanel mini rectangle in caviar leather with gold hardware or even silver but Since they are not available, I’m just gonna print a photo of the bag and stick it on my wall instead 😂❤️
Chanel prices are really high for machine made bags. I have a vintage one with the gold plated hardware. I wonder if those ones were handmade then? It’s in really good condition for a 25 year old bag
What a thorough and down to earth examination of Chanel. Thank you for making this video. It’s really given me pause to consider my own collection. I thought I had streamlined but now I realize I could even go more minimalistic. Thank you for being such a good role model.
I love chanel but I would never be able to keep up with the chase and many beautiful collection or crazy prices. I’m happy right now with the two I have. In time I will add another but not chasing a thing. Also agree that it’s better to wait and get what you really want instead of the alternative. I’ve done the alternative before for savings and still end up lusting after the thing I wanted when I could have just waited and saved some more
I came by your site for the first time this evening and totally enjoyed your comments. I have to say Chanel is my favourite collection and have no yearning to change. I have to say you come over as a very well informed young lady and I look forward to your future videos.
I absolutely adore Chanel and it’s my favorite brand. But I completely agree with all your points. You always make so much sense Eileen! Thanks for sharing your insight with us.
Same it's my favourite brand! While I do agree with some points, I do think 2nd hand market is truly amazing, there are so many consignment stores out there, great authenticators ect...and you can find some good deals. Hermes to me is just too much in terms of their game. You're either so lucky or you need to spend spend spend and you can't go 2nd market for their K or B because the prices are premium, so for me it's far worse. And in general no one needs to keep up with anything, just buy what you want, style, brand ect...:)
Sorry to hear that! I've not bought from LV in a bit so I can't really attest to that, but the LV Montaigne Empreine I used to have was really well made xx
Oh my! Your video is fantastic! Thank you so much! Over the years i have collected 6 chanel bags plus various accessories and i have also purchased from other luxury brands. I can relate to absolutely everything you said and i had all the experiences you described. Thanks so much for putting all these thoughts and emotions into words!
While I can afford a Chanel bag, I don’t own one. I never got the hype of Chanel. It seems the higher the price of Chanel, the greater the hype. They all look the same to me. For that reason if I ever purchased one, that would be the only one. There are so mean beautiful creative handbags out there.
Bravo for not falling under the misguided Chanel spell. Unjustifiable prices, reducing quality, lazy repetitive designs, and the illusion of class. They are the most hyped bags for a new generation with lots of money but absolutely no style or class and think that wearing the double C will automatically give them that. LV, Hermes and Dior increase their prices but their quality remains.
Hi Eileen. For my 65th birthday this month, my husband took me to the Chanel store and purchased a Black Medium Classic Caviar Double Flap with Gold hardware for me. I absolutely love it.
@@ColourfulNoir Thank you Eileen. Your videos are so inspiring. You have changed the way I shop and the items that I purchase now. You have made me a fan of the LilySilk cashmere sweaters. They are affordable, beautiful, and feel very soft and comfortable. Love your style and the thoughtfulness you put into your video messages. 💕
I absolutely love your videos! This where I am at in life….less is more in luxury! I’m only purchasing luxury items items that I really really want! I don’t own a Chanel and I’m not sure I want to drop that many coins in a handbag that would only carry occasionally. Keep the great content coming.
I think you made a wise decision to stop buying Chanel products that are way overpriced and most of their handbags do look similar the same year after year. Nothing is new except their prices have increased a lot in 2021 just for a brand name. Use your money wisely ladies!!!
I am with you 100% about impulse purchases! In the past I used to just buy on a whim, and then I lose so much reselling Bcs of consignment fees, especially having not used them much. Now I think through every single buy
I’m still saving for my first Chanel and your videos really helped me keep my focus. Few videos ago you also shared how happiness doesn’t always have to mean a new bag. I’m aiming to pay for my lens implant in cash first before switching the savings goal for Chanel. Terima kasih Eileen 🌷
I currently own a Chanel vintage Diana. I want only one more and then I’m done. I’m Avery much a minimalist and I love having curated collections that aren’t overwhelming and bring me joy.
Honestly, you seem to have the knowledge of goods to recognize good craftmanship, so why do you go by all thee overpriced bags? With the collection you have, you have everything you need! And if not, there are so many small, excellent brands or no name producers with classical, timeless designs out there. Why would anybody need to buy handbags that cost as much as a small (used) car? And it has nothing to do with being able to afford them or not. It is about being willing to afford them. And this has nothing to do with real inflation, if you buy these handbags at these hilarious prices you are contributing to inflation. Knowledge of goods (good leather, good hardware, good manufacturing and of course excellent designs) is all you need....don‘t let these luxury groups fool you.....as Bernard Arnaud (CEO of LVMH) says himself, only luxury brands allow him to charge luxury margins....it is not about the value of the bags, it is about shareholder value and the abstract brand attributes that you are paying for. Is this worth our money? I think not. We better support small, honest suppliers and manufacturers. These big brands are not even producing the bags themselves anymore....
I like this video. 👍 I used to buy Bottega Veneta like crazy. But I start to put a break because of the price increase. The arrival of the new designer is the last straw. Plus I own a ton of bags already. The brand has to seriously impress me to open my wallet. Love your analysis over several high end brands. These may not be my usual go to but the concept is the same. 😀
Lol, I had a suit back in the days in beautiful vibrant color. Every time I wore it, I got all the raves, it can give the appearance of old lady, but you gotta put your spin on it with nice shoes etc
Nice video ! Agreed with your opinions. Chanel materials and craftsmanship doesn’t justify the quality of the value . Prices increased insanely during pandemic! They are following Hermes footsteps.
Well said❣️ I only own a Chanel pink wallet (bought last yr) and pink mini square (bought last month) AND I’m contented 🥰 I don’t think I will get any new bags from Chanel anymore🥺 due to ➡️ I agree with what you just mentioned in your video😵 now, I’m moving on to Dior, LV, Valentino, Mulberry & YSL plus Hermes😝 always loved your videos💝
I honestly have no interest in new Chanel pieces. The prices are absolutely outrageous at this point! I do have a desire to own a vintage piece with gold plated hardware...but the price increases have also drastically affected the resale market of those items. I can't really justify a second hand purchase either.
Thanks for sharing!! Price increases are often reflected on the secondhand market too, so I can imagine the preloved prices can be hard to swallow too xx
I am a hard core Chanel bag lover but I do understand that they have a very classic, conservative style and it isn’t for everyone. We are all different when it comes to our taste in fashion, home decor and so on. The fact that everybody has different opinions is what makes fashion so interesting. For myself, I won’t be buying any more bags from the boutiques. They have priced themselves above my range when it comes to classic bags and I haven’t seen a seasonal bag I like enough to buy for a long time. I also don’t like the games they have begun to play on their customers. So it’s preloved for me from now on. I do have one on my wish list, a Jumbo in beige clair caviar with gold hardware. It’s going to be a few years before I can afford it but one has to have goals. In the meantime I am enjoying doing heaps of research on them.
Totally agree with your insights! When I browse chanel websites, the only pieces catch my attention are their classics, but with its prices and craftsmanship at the moment, I can’t convince myself to commit buying them. I am more excited to browse their classic vintages though.
Thank you for always sharing important and wise information regarding buying luxury goods. Just in the perfect time that I am considering to buy Chanel, but the price increase keeps making me think twice. Then I watched your video and it made me more sure to hold my desire to get a Chanel bag. 🙏
Totally agree. Other than Chanel shoes and boots which are stunning and still reasonably priced, I will buy a Jacket if it’s not too bulky. I have two classic pearl necklaces which I wear all the time but I’ve banned any further jewelry. The last bag ( my 3rd) was the Gabrielle in black. I don’t have a black bag and it really spoke to me. The bag conversation has since stopped and I’ve blocked all bag calls😂and no more handbags!
Very thought provoking and honest video. Lambskin is jot as delicate as you think. I have a Chanel vintage lambskin twenty years old, it still looks great. It depends on how you treat and store the bag. Any bag will get damage if you don’t take care of it. I agree with you about the price point. Chanel bags are no longer desirable to me either for all the reasons you stated.
Agreed! I think the classic flag bags are so chic, but Chanel keeps increasing their prices. Not sure if its worth it. In 2008, I saw this zipp tweed bomber at Chanel for $10,000. I was only a teenager. If I had the money, I would've bought it. It fit so well and would still look so cool in 2021.
I haven’t shopped Chanel in years. Customer Service is horrible for the amount of money you spend & the Associates are exhausting. I’m happily hooked on YSL. ❤️
I love my Chanel bags I already have. But I can’t justify the prices now because of all the increases. Also I’ve gotten quite stingy with my money. Lol!
@@tippytoe1250 I think you misinterpreted what I said. I agree with you. I’m saying the vintage bags are of higher quality than what they are now. I too have a couple of vintage pieces from Chanel and the quality back then is superior to what is now. 😊
Missing out now is my win-win compensation for myself for saving money, and for being selective.😊 I'm not that aggressive anymore of chanel ecause of that insane price increase. I'd rather go for Hermes!!!🤣🤣🤣 Thanks Eileen for sharing how you perceive your chanel collection!!!💖
After a certain age, as you matured, you realised that there’s better use of your money than to spend it on luxury items, handbags and such. You start looking for best value and quality products rather than chasing after brands. You spend money on good quality leather bags that will not burn a big hole in your pocket (definitely not on a Berkin bag 😝).
I love how you kept your Chanel collection so small! It’s really imaging to see a TH-cam who loves luxury items and doesn’t promote access buying. I have Chanel coco handle which I bought two years back. I’m grateful that I got it because I really love it. I don’t really like the classic ones since you can’t do cross body but I really want the mini flap. I got a classic WoC as well. I think that’s all I want from Chanel and want to have for my Chanel collection. Those 3 purse. I really like the one you have for everyday use. Hope I don’t think of getting it too haha 😆
Unfortunately I'm still addicted to Chanel bags but I'm getting tired of the games we need to play to actually get them, in addition to the increasing prices, One or two more to fill holes/needs, and I think I'm done. (Agree about not loving the 19, Gabrielle, etc...)
I started buying Chanel in 2019, buying one 👜 a year, because that’s all I could afford. I have always wanted a Classic Flap in the Medium/Large size, but could not get over the high price, especially considering that I could have bought it years ago for less. This year, I decided to swallow the high price and get it...and now I have two and one Small. I sold a lot and am still refining my collection to add a couple more Chanel 👜 but I do feel a sense of peace in finally getting the style that I always wanted. I haven’t worn them yet, mainly due to the pandemic, but I am happy to have them for now. I will likely stop buying Chanel in another year or two from the boutique, and hope to enjoy the pieces that I have collected this year.
Their quality has gone down since 2016. I regularly had to take in my Jumbo Classic to get fixed to the point they replaced my bag. They no longer fix for free nor replace anything. I agree with your video and some comments here. Beautiful collection!
Like you, I also used to love anything Chanel and have acquired quite a few pieces over the years. I used to have 9 Chanel bags, 4 Chanel SLGs & 5 Chanel costume jewellery pieces. Not a very huge collection but I've sold away 5 Chanel bags, an SLG and some costume jewellery pieces, either because I don't like using them anymore, or the quality of the items do not hold up, and I sold all at a huge loss. I feel Chanel prices now are really not justified given their quality and workmanship. I have brought my 2 Chanel double flaps for repair as the stitching frayed after a number of years although I'm careful with the usage of my bags and I don't use them as my everyday bags. I don't think I would buy any more Chanel given their crazy prices which do not match their quality. My Chanel 6-ring key pouch completely spoil beyond repair with the metal parts coming out and a luxury bag repair shop I sent pictures to couldn't repair it.
I'm so sorry to hear that! With the extortionate pricing, I think it's only fair to expect great quality from Chanel pieces. I prefer LV canvas for small leather goods now because the material is truly indestructible xx
I used to have only Vintage Chanel items. When I bought my very first brand new Chanel, it was an underwhelming experience. I felt like the SA from the luxury vintage stores were more accommodating and nice than the one from the Chanel boutique near me.
Thanks for this video. I used to purchased every season @ Chanel but due to pandemic I’ve stopped buying for almost 2 years but only bought last Apr (mini rectangular but was not happy due to quality crease so I’ve returned it) & this month I got 2 classic small double flap (black & beige) due to potential price increase noticed quality is not good 2-3 years ago but I’m keeping it as a happy ending to complete my collection. I’m now leaning towards Hermes due to very good quality just got my Constance. Thanks for sharing 🙏
You can check out articles some elements are made with the help of machines and others with human touch like the hardware ect...I don't see how it would be all handmade with the demand. The reason Hermes is handmade is because a) you can't just go inside a store and buy one b) they're selective with who they give it to c) it's part of their strategy, produce less for more money
The only Chanel item I own is vintage, as their core bag models in their current forms never sparked much joy for some reason. I've been through the store buying experience to help my mom get her CF and I agree that I've had better experiences at other brands. While I still have a couple of Chanel items on my wishlist, the item I really want (So Black reissue with chevron pattern, mini or 226) is almost too understated Chanel that I wonder if it's even worth getting, given the crazy prices and quality issues. One of my local stores had the mini back then and I thought it was cute, but wasn't sure if it was worth paying $4k kind of cute
I completely agree with you. I´m saving money for a bag a couple of years ago and I have the impresion that I never could afford a Chanel bag. Anyway, I have friends who work for Chanel, and as you told, they also say that the quality has decreased paralelly to the price increase, which I personally find dissapointing for such a luxury brand. I´m also considering a second hand one because the oldest versions of the classic flap have gold hardware and better craftmanship. Also the customer service is not the one that you expect if you are goint to spend that amount of money.
Very good points. Just want to note that every Chanel handbag, slg, shoe, accessory and rtw is handmade. Handbag hardware is no longer gold plated but made of mixed metals. It is not “machine made”
Hi Kaitlyn, thank you! In the video, I mentioned Hermes pieces are hand stitched, meaning every single stitch is done by hand. Meanwhile Chanel stitching (such as the quilted patterns) is made with machine. The latter still requires a great level or care, dexterity, and craftsmanship, so I wasn't implying it's an easy job, just stating the fact 😊
I agree that Chanel’s pricing is completely inflated related to its quality. For example, one can have a ladies Saville Row bespoke suit made for less than the cost of a ready to wear Chanel tweed jacket. Since the passing of Karl Lagerfeld, I think the house has lost some of its cache. However, I do love the ballet flats and own 4 pairs. They are very comfortable and long wearing. I have them re-soled when needed. They are true classics.
I agree. Perhaps I'll look for a Chanel piece pre-loved but I just don't see it worth my while to get new Chanel pieces. Dior I might, because their sales associates and overall ease of finding what they have is very inviting and I'd like to maybe have a mini Lady Dior :)
I'm just changed my mind last month when I had my money ready. Their website is terrible, I can't find what I really want. Thank you for sharing your opinion... It's unlocked me from the believe that I need to get a chanel.
I always admire you, but I went to Chanel few days ago and bought a very cute mint green bucket bag (in lamb skin😭) with Pearl logo🥰. my SA and me were very happy. The bag is so dreamy. 🙈💕 ahhh it’s time to control my spending!
I agree with some of the comments here, Chanel doesn't always offer consistent experience -- say compared to Hermes. I've had some really questionable experiences between how I was spoken to and how the handbags were treated in store. Nevertheless, I do adore the classics, and my most memorable experience was buying my first small flap in London, where I had top notch service in 2018. Earlier this year, I did score a Gabrielle Backpack but the whole experience was through text messaging an SA at a Department store which was seamless! But I also felt it will likely be my last piece I'll purchase through retail as I also am not a fan of the Boy, Chanel 19, the newer top handle bags, or the price increases!
Thank you for sharing your perspective. I don’t have any Chanel or H bags. I did go into Chanel stores to browse without buying in the past and once to buy a card case and I was treated with respect and the SAs were so so nice. I was treated like a princess when I bought my card holder, even though it was a small purchase in the CC world, I was treated like I made a large purchase. LV items are beautiful and the Palm Springs mini is on my wishlist but the customer service is far from impressive. I feel pressured to purchase a lot of items at LV and my friend made a small purchase of a card holder and the SA was visibly disappointed it was a small purchase. I understand they have sales goals but my Felicie purchase was also a sour experience because I didn’t buy the perfume and wallet and perfume I was pressured to buy.
Back in the days when I used to work and have a job or jobs I bought a lot of make up from Chanel, I still have them. I love their make up. I never thought of buying their handbags until now, all I want is their classic flap card holder in black with burgundy color inside. It’s hard to get this item, it’s all sold out. I really want to own one of this card holder. Informative video, 🙏 thanks.
I think the packaging is still one of the best but even that is not tempting me much now lol xx
@@ColourfulNoir except the classic bags’ dust bags are in white, other dust bags are in black which may actually increase the risk of colour transfer of a light coloured bag. The SA told me to be aware of this!
For some reason, Chanel in in-store customer service in HK/KL (maybe Asia in general idk) is super super nice. 😄
Agree!!! Mademoiselle Chanel would be FURIOUS at the shenanigans going on with her brand!!!! ಠ︵ಠ
The costume jewelry comment .. 100 !!!
Aww thank you so much for your feedback, it really keeps me going xx
Same here. I no longer crave every It bag that comes to the market. Ever since going vegan, I realised how many things we hoard are not a necessity. I prefer keeping things simple and putting the money saved into investments, properties and into my son’s education.
Since the pandemic I realized that luxury fashion is „unnecessary“
The pandemic has definitely opened my eyes to a lot of things! I've certainly become a lot more intentional with my spending xx
Yes I am much more inclined towards sustainability
Yes , indeed!
Same here.
Aren't all of these website u guys recommended sell counterfeit goods they are not authentic items?
In a world that has radically been changed by a virus that caused us to lose loved ones, not be able to say goodbye to others, lockdowns, continued resurgence of the virus and even toilet paper shortages, Chanel and other luxury goods have begun to seem really irrelevant. I won’t be adding anything else to my collection for a long time. Love your Chanel pieces.
Not really, i think it promoted online shopping 🛍 more than anything. As a result, we are seeing those frequent price increases due to insane demand. Reselling business are blooming too
I agree!!
They seemed relevant before?
I agree with you too. My desire to add new pieces have dramatically decreased in the last year. Luxury pieces = time . My time is more precious than any luxury items.
Or it could have the opposite effect; hurry up and enjoy what you can while you can.
Ridiculous!
Louis Vuitton as well…
You said it .absolutely . Service and quality overrated
I feel the same way about Chanel. I used to love the brand, however, I have been turned off from the Frequent rapid price increases, declining quality. I am ok with admiring from afar.
I totally agree! Being able to admire beautiful things without owning them is empowering xx
I second this. In addition, the service is so bad these days.
same here, they are not worth it
I heard they aren’t gold plated anymore ??
Agree with all points, I also find now, the customer service leaves more to be desired. The Chanel boutique experience feels much less luxurious than it used to, for much higher prices.
Spot on. They have the rudest customer service.
And with Chanel you can’t do that and it annoys me
Totally agree! You never know what you'll see in store and it's good recipe for impulse shopping xx
It was a bit disheartening considering of all the brands I could have saved up for, I chose them :(
thats a chanel classic csr makes you feel you cant afford them, you ended up buying instead because of that ego boost! theyre doing it on purpose..
I agree! I probably don't fit their clientele profile anymore but hey it's money saved lol 😇
yes yes yes
They did it to themselves.
I love how you break down exactly why you're not buying Chanel anymore. Your approach is awesome.
I feel the same. Chanel is becoming like fast fashion too, it's everywhere, despite the prices now. I got the pieces I want and it's enough for me. Don't think I will add more ❤️
I agree. It is everywhere. Everyone has one. I’m selling off my collection
I am glad i am not alone! Xoxoxo

I 💯 agree. My Chanel collection is coming to a halt since I’m not the clientele they want (I don’t buy a lot) and I refuse to chase a bag. Your Birkin 25 is adorable. ❤️
We're not missing out on much 🧚♀️ We might not have as much Chanel, but our bank account is much happier xx
Totally agree with you! Chanel is no longer appealing to me. All the bags starting to look the same.
I share your sentiments! I've not been feeling very excited about Chanel designs xx
I got birkin bag... I got chanel bag... LV TOO
Thankyou for saying out loud what most of us feel, but are hesitant to come to terms with.
I fully agree w/your assessment👍
I agree! I never understand the hype for Chanel costume jewellery, too expensive xx
I'm so happy you liked my content xx
Your Chanel collection is perfect, it suits you and I think anyone would be lucky to have your well thought out pieces! I own one bag and I'm content with that. Loved your video!
Thank you so much! xx
Your videos are always so peaceful. I don't think I will be putting many luxury handbags on my list in the future. The prices have skyrocketed!
Luxury bags seem to go up in price so much quicker than fine jewellery xx
totally agree with you, Chanel really needs to relook into their pricing🤦🏻♀️
Agree! xx
God... your voice and the way you talk is so warm and smooth..
Aww thank you! xx
Funnily, this video just opened my eyes on how pretty the Miss dior promenade bag is 😍
I have it in black, it’s really lovely
It really is! There are so many beautiful bags from Dior to be honest xx
I’m so glad you found my content helpful! FOMO is definitely expensive and I’m happy I got out xx
Thank you for sharing! xx
I love Gucci too. I mean, it's on the list of high end brands but the price makes sense.
@@hi_this_is_kiel6362 yessss
Love that! xx
I still enjoy Chanel and love the timeless aspect, but I agree it is not the best value for money. This really isn’t their focus as a brand. Hermes cannot be beat with quality, but the aesthetics of the two brands are completely different. I like them for different outfits and activities.
Thanks for sharing! Personally, Hermes and LV pieces work better for me xx
Nicely put! Most of my impulse purchases were made at Chanel so I'm definitely letting go of the expensive FOMO xx
Thanks for sharing!! xx
Glad it was helpful! xx
Another great video to keep us grounded and to think twice about wanting a bag! Thank you!
I wish I bought Chanel back then, now their prices are crazy!!
Pre-loved is the way I have gone. I have saved 1-2g on bags in excellent condition.
@DragonFlyy I'm assuming you are asking where I buy. Various places but Fashionphile on Yoogi's Closet are best for beginners.
Even back then their prices were crazy!
I love chanel but I would never be able to keep up with the chase and many beautiful collection or crazy prices. I’m happy right now with the two I have. In time I will add another but not chasing a thing.
Also agree that it’s better to wait and get what you really want instead of the alternative. I’ve done the alternative before for savings and still end up lusting after the thing I wanted when I could have just waited and saved some more
I totally agree! Thank you so much for sharing xx
I’m still chasing a business affinity but once I’m done I’m done with chanel too! Great video, plenty to think about
I came by your site for the first time this evening and totally enjoyed your comments. I have to say Chanel is my favourite collection and have no yearning to change. I have to say you come over as a very well informed young lady and I look forward to your future videos.
Thank you so much xx
Thank you so much!! xx
I feel like LV has gone down as well, maybe just my opinion but quality seems just OK to me. Maybe one day I will change my mind.
I find the quality very good on bags that aren’t ‘It’ bags.
Sorry to hear that! I've not bought from LV in a bit so I can't really attest to that, but the LV Montaigne Empreine I used to have was really well made xx
I guess it depends on where it’s made. My newer pieces are made in Spain and the quality is impeccable
Oh my! Your video is fantastic! Thank you so much! Over the years i have collected 6 chanel bags plus various accessories and i have also purchased from other luxury brands. I can relate to absolutely everything you said and i had all the experiences you described. Thanks so much for putting all these thoughts and emotions into words!
Glad it was helpful! xx
thanks for sharing! i love the sound of your voice. LOL it’s so calm & soothing
😊 thank you xx
Wow the reason you don't buy Chanel anymore is spot on. I think you're becoming a smarter shopper. Congratulations.
Their quality and craftsmanship doesn’t reflect Chanel’s price increases
While I can afford a Chanel bag, I don’t own one. I never got the hype of Chanel. It seems the higher the price of Chanel, the greater the hype. They all look the same to me. For that reason if I ever purchased one, that would be the only one. There are so mean beautiful creative handbags out there.
I agree! There are many other beautiful bags out there xx
Happy belated birthday! Enjoy your new bag xx
@@ColourfulNoir Thank you Eileen. Your videos are so inspiring. You have changed the way I shop and the items that I purchase now. You have made me a fan of the LilySilk cashmere sweaters. I absolutely love your videos! This where I am at in life….less is more in luxury! I’m only purchasing luxury items items that I really really want! I don’t own a Chanel and I’m not sure I want to drop that many coins in a handbag that would only carry occasionally. Keep the great content coming.
Thanks for sharing!! xx

So happy for you! Wonderful investment for yourself indeed xx
I currently own a Chanel vintage Diana. I want only one more and then I’m done. I’m Avery much a minimalist and I love having curated collections that aren’t overwhelming and bring me joy.
1st finally. Have been waiting for your updates entire weekend.
Hope you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for your support xx
Your justification is more than valid. While they will always be classics, sometimes a few “nibbles” are enough 😃
Well stated
Less is more! xx
following your channel is good for my retail therapy impulses
Aww it means a lot, thank you! xx
Do you guys really like Chanel tweed jacket? I truly tried to like it as well but it looks like my grandma’s jacket 😂
Lol, I had a suit back in the days in beautiful vibrant color. Every time I wore it, I got all the raves, it can give the appearance of old lady, but you gotta put your spin on it with nice shoes etc
Totally agree with fear of missing out 😆 really good opinion it’s hard to keep up 🤢
Agree! Chanel is moving a bit too fast for me 🧚♀️
Nice video ! Agreed with your opinions. Chanel materials and craftsmanship doesn’t justify the quality of the value . Prices increased insanely during pandemic! They are following Hermes footsteps.

I love my 👜s . Since the 😷pandemic I find I don't have as much motivation to buy. I have sold most of my vintage and my contemporary bags 🎒
I agree! Sometimes online window shopping can be really fun too (and a lot cheaper) xx
Totally agree with your insights! When I browse chanel websites, the only pieces catch my attention are their classics, but with its prices and craftsmanship at the moment, I can’t convince myself to commit buying them. I am more excited to browse their classic vintages though.

Aww I'm so glad you found my video helpful! xx

Thank you for sharing! xx

Unfortunately I'm still addicted to Chanel bags but I'm getting tired of the games we need to play to actually get them, in addition to the increasing prices, One or two more to fill holes/needs, and I think I'm done. (Agree about not loving the 19, Gabrielle, etc...)
Sending you lots of positive energy! I hope you find bag peace soon xx
Thank you so much for sharing! I think it's a wonderful thing you know exactly what you want for your collection xx
Thanks for sharing!! xx
Thank you for sharing! xx
Thank you. Your insights on leathers and finishes to avoid are especially helpful.
I did not know Chanel is machine made (the stitching). Thanks for the info. Made Chanel prices all the crazier now as the bags are not hand made :(
You can check out articles some elements are made with the help of machines and others with human touch like the hardware ect...I don't see how it would be all handmade with the demand. The reason Hermes is handmade is because a) you can't just go inside a store and buy one b) they're selective with who they give it to c) it's part of their strategy, produce less for more money
Glad my video was helpful! xx
@@ImenBen12 will read more on that. Thanks Imen!
@@hris9214 you're welcomee :)
Thank you for sharing! xx
It's sad when even the Chanel SAs are saying the same about the declining quality, guess my decision to walk away from the brand is a good one xx
You have such a relaxing voice. ❤️
Thank you so much 🙂
I agree that Chanel’s pricing is completely inflated related to its quality.
I would totally choose the Saville Row suit.
Thanks for sharing & I sold most of my ©️©️too. 😅👍🏼 haven’t been carrying lux bags since the pandemic & I like that feeling of hands free my lady. ❤️😘😘😘Sandy
Thanks for sharing!! Lovely to see you here as always, Sandy xc
I agree. Perhaps I'll look for a Chanel piece pre-loved but I just don't see it worth my while to get new Chanel pieces. Dior I might, because their sales associates and overall ease of finding what they have is very inviting and I'd like to maybe have a mini Lady Dior :)
The mini Lady Dior bags look so cute! xx
I'm just changed my mind last month when I had my money ready. Their website is terrible, I can't find what I really want. Thank you for sharing your opinion... It's unlocked me from the believe that I need to get a chanel.
Glad I could help! xx
Thank you so much for sharing your opinion! Yes, many times I feel I purchased something impulsively! Later regret the purchase 😬
I always admire you, but I went to Chanel few days ago and bought a very cute mint green bucket bag (in lamb skin😭) with Pearl logo🥰. my SA and me were very happy. The bag is so dreamy. 🙈💕 ahhh it’s time to control my spending!
Congratulations on your new bag.
That sounds like a bag I would like! Congratulations
Thanks for sharing!! I hope you enjoy your bag in the best of health! xx

Thank you so much for sharing! xx
Sorry to hear that! I agree SA should never pressurise anyone into buying anything. Luxury shopping should really be a pleasant experience xx
I just want a WOC and a mini square and that’s it! Haha btw your hair looks perfect!
Thank you so much! xx
