I love reading the lyrics to some of these tracks on the early albums. There will be an entire sentence and Lord Worm just goes "uurg uurgh YAYA!!" But for some reason it's just magical to me and not stupid at all. Especially on this song, about a serial murderer, he truly comes off as a deranged lunatic. I miss this era of Cryptopsy.
Totally get the poetic thing with Lord Worm, but I never really saw them as an aggressive sounding band. like obviously they are to an extent because it's death metal but to me it sounds way too weird and warped to sound aggressive, aggression is something I associate with a band like Pantera, this mood is more like total insanity
He left the band in '97 to pursue his teaching career, returned in 2003, but left again in 2007 because of health reasons. No I'm 99.9% sure he doesn't use sound effects. Most vocalist in death metal don't. Lord Worm was the best. RIP old Cryptopsy.
Man, i remember that Lord Worm was hated, I thought it was a bit all over the place, but having heard this track live now, it was just bullshit from the scene. Now he's gone and with him, the feeling of coherent sound.
Good live performance of this classic. I really only like the first two albums. Once Was Not was ok, if not only because Lord Worm was back, but the new one, well I can't describe how shitty it is.
RateYourMusic & Metal Archives put Melodic Death Metal as part of their genre, along with Power Metal (and Neo-Classical Metal in RYM). But what would they know?
It was coherent. I say that the only true death metal band is Death. Every other band is pretty much classified under a sub genre. Death incorporated them all together because they progressed throughout the years. EX. Cryptopsy - Brutal Death Necrophagist - Technical Death Children of Bodom - Melodic Death Obscura - Progressive Death Behemoth - Blackened Death Cynic - Fusion Death Yeah i choose bands that are more well known. But you see my point?
My Perfect Lineup would be: Vocals:Kelly Schaefer atheist is the shit and he's more versatile still Worm is awesome Leads:Chuck Rhythm:Vogg Drums:Vitek
@Psychiatric91 jon is back in cryptopsy, they are writing new more oldschool material and matt's vocals are beginning to sound sick as FUCK! I say, stick to cryptopsy
This video is awesome. Great sound and video quality. Phobophile is one of my favorite metal songs ever. As for The Unspoken King, I like a bunch of the songs quite a bit, especially Worship Your Demons and The Headsmen, but when they get to the songs with the clean covals, that just isn't Cryptopsy's strength at all. Overall it's an okay album and pretty weak by Cryptopsy standards, only because of a couple of songs that really ruin it. I do miss Lord Worm ALOT, but the new guy is good.
nobody can replace lord worm, his typical painfull voice represent the brutality of cryptopsy
True af
Every other singer in Cryptopsy's lineup has sorely paled in his shadow

I wish lord worm was my english teacher when i was in school :(
I heard an interview where Lord Worm thought it was "cute" that's the kind of english teacher he was
Holy drums
As much as I liked the last album, they'll never return to their glory days. With Worm they were as poetic as they were aggressive.

Ibanezdan Insanity is what we want :D
I was there. I even ate a Worm =D
Somebody slow that drummer down before he hurts someone holy shit he's incredible
He lives his life one hummingbird heartbeat at a time
I'm so glad I got to see them live before they sold out. Lord Worm is a great guy too, I got a chance to talk to him after the show.
R.I.P Cryptopsy
Ha! Gotta love Lord Worm.
"Rawg rawg rawg YIAT!
Rawg rawgy rawg BLAHJ!"
The vocals are so disgusting, but in a very good way.
He left the band in '97 to pursue his teaching career, returned in 2003, but left again in 2007 because of health reasons.

Lord Worm was the best. RIP old Cryptopsy.
1:15 love the way it breaks down for a sec then explodes in to a cyclone blast, then gets even faster. it's wild and furious
What a lineup and what a performance! If only I was able to see this. Too bad it will probably never happen again.
1.26 - Cyclone blasts make my head hurt. Amazing.
Yea, just watching this makes me wanna be a drummer!

Those Drums.
Dude, this blast is a LOT faster than anything any of those did.
While I've been known to be a CoB hater on many occasions, saying they don't play metal at all is just ridiculous.

What the fuck? Was that in fast forward when showing Flo? God damn the guy's a fucking beast.
dat speed!!
cierto los dos primeros albumes son de lo puto mejorcito
Does anybody else sound as fucking brutal as this live?
RateYourMusic & Metal Archives put Melodic Death Metal as part of their genre, along with Power Metal (and Neo-Classical Metal in RYM).
But what would they know?
@NearbyHermit Slipknot is a Disney "Metal" band.
1:12-1:36 just makes this song for me. It has that vision of a serial psycopath driving at your doorstep at the end of dawn! O_O
Dan Mongrain is the Redheaded one
Auburn the soloist one
1:27 - 1:35 ¡¡Fuck!!
Their first 2 albums yeah
Again: death metal elements in CoB, please?
And what are Morbid Angel or Possessed then?
sooooo fast :o
@ujiad1 I have a concert of 95's in the "Blasphemy Made Flesh Tour"
Hehehehahahahahahahahahahahahahhh:-D You made my day
Derek Roddy, Hellhammer, Trym, Frost, Proscriptor, just to name a few who are at least on the same level if not better.
brutal !! i miss lord worm's sound vocal
a ga ga ga ga yeeeeaaahhhh!!! IM FLO MOUNIER, CRYPTOPSY DRUMMER, I DO COCAAAAAAAAINE!!!
It was coherent. I say that the only true death metal band is Death. Every other band is pretty much classified under a sub genre. Death incorporated them all together because they progressed throughout the years.
EX. Cryptopsy - Brutal Death

I think it was a prerecorded track playing.
Next Cryptopsy will sound brutal as well... No TUK... Only pure fucking brutality!
well they still play this song live. even if it's not worm
you guys are forgetting about john fucking longstreth of ORIGIN, check 'em out if you haven't.
does anyone know what kind of bass Eric Langlois uses?
11 years late but it’s a Carbin LB75 from around 1989
My Perfect Lineup would be:
Vocals:Kelly Schaefer atheist is the shit and he's more versatile still Worm is awesome
Leads:Chuck
Rhythm:Vogg
Drums:Vitek
Splitcock... is that a brutal death metal band? :P
dat scream at 0:58 is fucking badasss
Which one of the guitarists is Dan Mongrain and which is Alex Auburn?
Who was playing piano at the start?
hey, i'm not very informed of cryptopsy.
What happened with lord worm?
ps: his mic has an sound effect, right?
@Psychiatric91 jon is back in cryptopsy, they are writing new more oldschool material and matt's vocals are beginning to sound sick as FUCK! I say, stick to cryptopsy
