Thank you, Eric! I want to share my experience: When I was a child, at 5 years old, my mother was concerned because I couldn't memorize a few sentences that other children could. However, in school, one teacher helped me understand that I actually could learn languages. My native language is Russian. When I was 18 years old, I learned Italian. At 32, I learned English. By the time I was 38, I started learning German. Now, looking back on my journey, I can definitively say that even though I didn't have the "talent" others had, I was fortunate to learn one skill: the ability to educate myself. I did it for myself, not for anyone else, because I had either the passion or the motivation to do so: I learned Italian because I wanted to speak with my Italian friends; I learned English because I follow the NBA and wanted to understand what happens in it; I learned German because I wanted to integrate myself here in Germany. I am a full-time engineer, and when I was 34 years old, I completely changed the direction of my professional work by educating myself. I believe the right formula for me is passion plus a system. I also have four children, so it makes sense for me to educate myself because this is the simplest way to help my children through my experience and skills. For example, I am currently working on a short course (10 lessons) "Critical thinking" for my 10-year-old son. And I agree with you, self-education is a journey that everyone should embrace and can enjoy.
Wow, too cool! Thanks so much for sharing. I love hearing these stories! I love the idea of "passion plus a system." When you have the drive to learn something and a system for achieving it, nothing can stop you. I've always wanted to learn another language, and this is a great motivator to do so. Thanks!
The gap between an idea and execution is skill - great way to put it! And, speaking of the education system that is not preparing us for the future - when I studied Business Communication I told my professors that I want to learn more about marketing, because it seemed the most interesting to me. They kindly told me that there are not a lot of businesses that want a marketing specialist, because PR is more common, so it would be smart not to focus on marketing in my studies. A year later I started working in digital marketing, and haven't had any other jobs related to business communication other than that. The professors could not predict the impact of Facebook and Google on marketing industry - there are WAY more marketing specialists now than PR people. So - yes, even though I still respect my professors and think they are true professionals, no professional can predict the future. So we have to keep learning.
Stunning how little it's told that education is an ongoing process, not a goal. I luckily realized it myself at some point early on. Maybe because I mostly liked high school learning.
@@ericpfohl I do get why people may not know this though or don't realise it. They might be stuck with shitty/unmotivated teachers/have an unhelthy situation at home growing up/a lot of pressure from parents to perform/etc. Then you may never realise you find it fun to learn stuff and enjoy the results.
learning the skill of eye contact and reading body language is a rare thing in todays screen oriented society. If you can write well, you can also verbally express these same ideas.
Through words, audio and videos. These 3 words are among most important notes for content creation i heard lately. i mean they sum everything about content creation. Wors: learn to write script, audio: learn to speak well and persuasively, video: about video editing. from my personal point of view, what i have learned is dont get yourself in trap of mastering everything, yeah offcourse its important. But as content creator what you need is bit of everything, focus on words and audio: bcz content is king and these 2 form ur content. for video editing, most features u need is present on most basic video editing software nowadays, u dont need all these fancy shit creators are obssessed with. only simple editing with good words and audio and u will reach far from where u start. Thanks Man good content.
I understand the message, but please don't be that bloke of having regreds of not spending enough time with your famility because this system is set up for everyone to endlessly compete with eachother. Besides AI is around the corner, we will be dead soon anyway, or a triple Phd just wont do anyways anymore.
That's the beauty of self-education and self-employment - you have the freedom and flexibility to spend time on what matters to you! Good reminder, thanks!

Very well said, Elina! Good on you for seeking your curiosities and learning along the way. It’s amazing what a little extra effort can do!

So well said! It’s definitely a journey that most quit too soon.

Well said, Barry. That's something I'm always trying to improve on!

It's easy to overcomplicate it, but that's how simple it can be! Well said, friend! Thanks for following along.
Wise words. ❤
Much appreciated! 😄
Anyone else learned to hate learning because of school
Totally! School typically makes us think negatively about learning, instead of encouraging us to seek what we're interested in.
