Since John Deere purchased Hagie, would you ever see yourself buying a Hagie sprayer in the future?

Build quick connects and disconnects into the main positive wire to keep the batteries good while also not making a ton of work for yourself. Its a little more work up front but will pay off when it comes to jumping, and having batteries go bad from it.

Nice collection of machinery.....Storing batteries in a discharged state decreases the life of the battery. The plates in a discharged battery will sulfate, reducing capacity and preventing the battery from charging properly.

I think the reason your batteries are having issues is because the capacity has been reduced by the bad charging systems on vehicles. I've been using a device called a Megapulse on all my lead batteries and as a result batteries last for ever (10 years a-least) and I've not had to charge a battery in years.

We had an s680 that we had just replaced the 2 MASSIVE batteries. I go to start it for the next harvest 2 months later and batteries are dead. After the battery charger was on them for an hour I saw the service lights were on. After I investigated I saw where a RACCOON had climbed up to get into the engine area and hit the service light switch. The year before a raccoon was inside the engine when I started it and it completely destroyed the cooling fan 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️. Needless to say I hate raccoons.

Hang some retractable extension spools from the rafters and get yourself some battery tenders. 90% of the time you go to start something you have issues.

Also carry heavy jumpers in the pickups and service truck. Service truck has a generator and carries a battery charger and of course there is a battery charger in the shop. Just use what works best at the time.😉

Sad to see that one machine going bye-bye to be replaced at a later time. Even though it's just a machine, seems like it served you very well since 2012. Now, it will serve someone else's needs in your community.
If the person that bought it is close by, you can always drop by and say hello to the machine bring some corn and soybeans to feed it and don't forget to pet it and give happy words over its next lifestyle. Silly huh, not really... A Legacy you've passed on to someone else.

That kind of worries me Zack, putting all your eggs in one basket with that 9870 STS,is there an emergency plan in case the unthinkable happens?.
I see what the problem is with your batteries, stop buying INTERSTATE batteries, they make what is called,"a middle of the road battery".
They cannot take the artic cold punch of -50 below zero Minnisota winters like they should.
I just changed everything I own over to DEKA batteries by EAST PENN Company,my neighbor used to pull loads of powdered lead to their main mfg.plant in Lyon,Pennsylvania,DEKA is rated as the number-one(1)lead-acid battery on the market, the price of the batteries are within a few dollars of Interstate or John Deeres batteries.
The Deka battery that I put into my truck was only $102.00 bucks out the door,so the price is very reasonable.

From an old retired farmer in Kansas. Every time a battery discharges, even if it will start the engine, it puts lead sulfate on the plates in the battery and gets worse with time. I agree with the small trickle idea. Mounted solid with a cutout switch to where all you have to do is unplug a cord should prolong the life of a lot of batteries. Love your videos and style. I believe you are educating an enormous amount of people.

While I may not be a farmer, John Deere has a special place in my heart. My father was a civil engineer and helped the local Deere dealer in Houston to design and build a new garage. Not only did he get paid well, but they threw in so many other things, like die-cast models, beer cozies, and I got my first ride on all metal, pedal powered John Deere tractor with tipper trailer. God I miss those days. Though here is one thing I would like to see: Real farmer plays, Farming Simulator 19.

As a non farmer, but a friend farmers and a lover food, I hope people realize the cost of these machines, the expenses and the blood, sweat and tears that go into feeding us. Most people are oblivious these facts and have no appreciation. P.S. PETA Ignorance is bliss.
