Thank you, Paul, for creating one of my new all-time favourite Tap Tap Concede moments - the look on Graham's face when the words "multiple Knowledge Pools" pass your lips.
Knowledge Pool is an amusing hard lock with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir. Because the trigger for the Pool goes onto the stack as the spell is cast, it's not "when they could cast a sorcery" (coz there's something on the stack!) and they just can't spells. Cam, take note.
I've had to deal with knowledge pool and possibility storm out at the same time in a commander game. I feel like I should be an auto level 1 judge for that.
Every week when these come up I watch 15 minutes daring it to see if can ever understand what they are talking about. After 6 months I still have no idea, but there is something great about listing to people talk about a really complex world that you have no idea about. TAP MAGIC HARDER!
I kept hearing random BINGS. Also, at points it looked like Graham had a fox on his shoulder and it was adorables. Camron, you are glorious. Never change.
I actually laughed myself into tears when Cam was describing the flashback/cascade Knowledge Pool idea. It just sounds so much like something i would have built. I love it!
I was holding my stomach while lying on the floor by the end of this podcast. I was legit crying. Please Cam make that deck and ruin, I mean run, the next modern GP with that
Oh man. There should be a new segment of this podcast called, I don't know, "Didn't Choose The Jank Life" or something where Cam (or others, but mostly Cam) deckbuilds with weird rares. Also, the new set: no Phoenix Wright in the background? 0/10 would not play in draft.
Cam in reference to Venser: "I made a deck around him that won sometimes." I made a deck around him that basically went undefeated at my lgs for MONTHS. I had a shell with just stupid things and him and with NPH it became the Splicer deck within minutes of the pre-release. Was my favorite time playing in standard.....the one time i basically built, tuned, and maintained a deck before Everyone caught onto how good it was and it hit "net deck" status.
How did no-one drop the mic and walk away at the end?? I thought that would be a given with the current audio set-up! Y'all care too much about your precious delicate mics :-( Background: A- (reflections on TV) Foreground: C (I'm of the old school of panel design - I don't want to see anything below the waste, also sometimes the lack of a table surface seemed awkward and cumbersome) Tech: B (cards slightly too small for my taste, 20:10 °ding°°ding°°ding° - maybe disable sound alerts on the processing pc?) Audio Setup: D (holding, heavy breathing, general awkwardness, thankfully temporary) Good luck with your new setup, hope you'll keep improving it.
I built a standard deck in Ravnica-Theros Standard that used Possibility Storm, Volatile Rig and Whims of the Fates to create a super random deck of doom. It also ran Mogis and cheap Rakdos creatures to put the pressure on the opponent. It worked surprisingly well, considering you throw ''Consistancy'' out the window.
Love the new set! Here's hoping your headsrts come in soon. It seemed pretty tedious to hold that mike the whole time! As for the obelisks in alara, in my experience with drafting it was like the banners in tarkir - no one wanted them, but you last picked it if you REALLY needed the fixing
In one of my commander games at my LGS someone was running a deck that had knowledge pool in it. However he cast Grip of Chaos then cast knowledge pool. So single target card had a target and if you cast something from your hand you got something out of the knowledge pool. It took awhile but I finally got though it with enough Ghave, Guru of Spores and Aura Shards.
You could get around Knowledge Pool with Æther Vial, since you're not casting from your hand. So your opponent only plays from the Pool, but you can Vial in stuff. Still not good though. Also; Cam with the calls. He was right on Noble Hierarch and the other Eldrazi.
love the new format, and proud patron! but the card overlay was a little small for me on my laptop - is it possible to have the cards a little bigger next time?
If you look at it, the obelisks and the panoramas cost exactly the same the turn you play them. You play the panorama, pay 1 and tap it (equivalent of two mana) and you're done. With the obelisk, you pay 3, then can tap it for 1 immediately (equivalent of two mana). Of course, the difference is the next turn, where you have an extra ramp mana with the obelisk presuming you're hitting lands each turn in both cases. The upside of the panorama is that it slightly thins your deck and can be done on turn two.
Also i know most people dont really use it this way but you can blink something they took control of through control magic with venser and get it back under your control
Knowledge Pool is probably the only card in Scars block that I like. It creates a fun metagame in Commander. Politics arise, alliances are formed where enemies once stood, power jumps from player to player. Sometimes we make it a rule that the Pool is brought into play immediately before the first player's third turn and can't be countered.
Surprised none of you guys had heard of Weiss Schwarz before, it's grown very popular recently. Fantastic game with lots of depth to it. It's basically a tcg where every block is from a different anime series or video game. Definitely recommend you pick up a couple of Trial Decks and give it a go sometime. ^^
oh my god I love knowledge pool. It's part of the "confusion engine" which includes grip of chaos, confusion in the ranks, and hopefully prototype portal imprinting knowledge pool
I feel you on pulling a bunch of the same shit rare. Pulled 3 life's finales from one New Phyrexia fat pack. Wound up with like 12 of them by the time New Phyrexia sealed product was no longer widely available.
Best EDH moment in my life: 3 Knowledge pool, all owned by one player (copies) and so on. Worst thing about it: That player decides the trigger order, so he can decide which pool you play from while he can play from a much better pool. EDIT: And there they mentioned the fact that it triggers like that. xD
I didn't see anyone mention this, but Venser teleported his Spark into Karn so Karn could resist the Phyrexian oil as planeswalkers have a natural defense against compleation. This caused Venser to die, since he didn't have his spark, and Karn to live. ALSO, Karn's abilities are flavorfully connected to his being a time-travelling silver golem. His +4 exiles cards from hands, -3 exiles cards from play, and his ultimate takes those cards and "time travels" them into a new game.
I did play against someone who had Prototype Portal/Knowledge Pool as a win con. When they are all controlled by the same player that player decides what pool spells go into. It did reliably win when it got two Pools out, problem was getting two Pools out in EDH.
There's a funny Knowledge Pool combo where you put a Curse of Exhaustion on your opponent while you have a Knowledge Pool out which prevents them from doing anything at all.
Waaaait a minute...I'll have you know I picked Mirrodin during my Mirrodin Besieged prerelease and I went undefeated! Of course having a sword of feast and famine and a victory's herald in my deck helped :D
The "best" (and by best I mean "surefire way to lose friends") use of knowledge pool involved using it in a deck with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir as your commander. Teferi says opponents can only cast spells when they could cast a sorcery and Can't effects overrule any Can effects if you had Teferi and Knowledge Pool on the field at the same time you effectively lock your opponent out of casting anything.
Ok for Weiss Schwartz (and any Bushiroad made TCG) foiling just means its the rare, the different style of foiling determines whether or not its a R (normal Rare) RR (double rare, comparable to super rare in Yugioh) or RRR (triple Rare or in YGO case, Ultra rare)
i doubt venser will get a reprint due to Narset. Lead designer of Kahns block, in one of the recent articles said they wanted a WU plainswalker because venser is dead. Narset is essentially taking his place.
loadingreadyrun Weis Shwarz is a really neat game :D The whole game is based on anime and how power in anime works. There are many animé, including Project Diva, Kill la Kill, Fate Zero, Fairy Tail, Angel Beats, Sword Art Online and Persona 4, but your deck can only be built of a singular animé :) it's pretty neat
No. The keywords for "Equip," "Enchant," and "Fortify" all have "target" in their reminder text, so you can't put equipment onto a Shroud creature. That said, if you find a way to attach it without the Equip ability (and without any other ability that uses the word "target"), then it's legal. Also, if a creature that already has Equipment gains Shroud, it will not lose the Equipment.
I play Venser, the Sojourner in my Roon of the Hidden Realms EDH and he just wins games. The deck is all about abusing etb effects. He's a free flicker once per turn, I can just alpha swing with a bunch of unblockable Thragtusk or Armada Wurm tokens, and God forbid I ultimate him. I once had a game where I had 2 venser emblems out and I was drawing 6 extra cards a turn.
yeeeeees, James~ play Weiss Schwarz~ it's fun~ no, seriously, once you figure out how to play, it's a really fun game, and I wish we had more players where I live. we used to just barely fire off the occasional tournament every other week, and now we're lucky if we ever have more than two people with decks on them at the same time.
knowledge pool during inistrad standard... with that curse that only allowed the cursed player to cast 1 spell a turn = no spells for you ever.... much fun at fnm was had for me with that
Given the existence of ferocious in Khans of Tarkir, I move that the Naya mechanic be referred to as Five-rocious.
***** Why didn't I think of that?? That's perfect!
***** Fourocious, meat Fiverocious.
Duel decks: Roar vs Rawr
"I actually put together a deck which could win occasionally." - Cam.
I want this on a t-shirt.
My friends and I did the three way knowledge pool. That was the best 7 person draw we had in a while.
I've had to deal with knowledge pool and possibility storm out at the same time in a commander game. I feel like I should be an auto level 1 judge for that.
Level 6
Every week when these come up I watch 15 minutes daring it to see if can ever understand what they are talking about. After 6 months I still have no idea, but there is something great about listing to people talk about a really complex world that you have no idea about. TAP MAGIC HARDER!

This looks about 4.772495311 billion times better than the old way you guys did TTC. Love the new set up.
Crack-a-pack is actually my favorite part of most podcasts. I think every part of this one was my favorite part of this podcast.
I actually laughed myself into tears when Cam was describing the flashback/cascade Knowledge Pool idea. It just sounds so much like something i would have built. I love it!
Take it all the way Cam! We believe in you!
I was holding my stomach while lying on the floor by the end of this podcast. I was legit crying. Please Cam make that deck and ruin, I mean run, the next modern GP with that

TheUnspokenKibbles that sounds great I'd love that if that was real
Cam in reference to Venser: "I made a deck around him that won sometimes."

I really enjoy the crack a pack segments of the LRR casts so this is just great.
How did no-one drop the mic and walk away at the end?? I thought that would be a given with the current audio set-up! Y'all care too much about your precious delicate mics :-(

hot damn, that new set is pro!

I was watching the "It's Magic" DVD yesterday so you guys opening a Knowledge Pool is extra funny.
"Climax area, Imwould like to play this game," James, what did we tell you about minds in gutters.
"I actually made a deck that could win occassionally," -Cameron Lauder, 2015
How about the interaction between knowledge pool and storm... THAT happened in a commander game once.
As a judge, Knowledge Pool is a wonderful card to construct rules questions around to ask other judges while we watch events.
Love the new set! Here's hoping your headsrts come in soon. It seemed pretty tedious to hold that mike the whole time!

2:02 lol, I started watching and kept thinking the title should be "crack-a-pack extravaganza"
You could get around Knowledge Pool with Æther Vial, since you're not casting from your hand. So your opponent only plays from the Pool, but you can Vial in stuff.
Still not good though.
Also; Cam with the calls. He was right on Noble Hierarch and the other Eldrazi.
I gotta say, I'm *really* happy that Paul pulled up the Japanese Knowledge Pool on the overlay.
love the new format, and proud patron! but the card overlay was a little small for me on my laptop - is it possible to have the cards a little bigger next time?

Props to Paul for making the Knowledge Pool pop-up be briefly Japanese. More sketch references!

Love the Mosstodon. Had it in my Jund EDH deck for ages.
Loved the new set!!! What are all going to do with your hands when you have headsets???
When you finish the knowledge pool deck I need it. For ya know the stuff ,and things
Did the knowledge pool deck ever get made, and if so, where can I find a decklist?
The Knowledge Pool talk inspired me to make a flashback blue black deck, good job guys now everyone is going to hate me.
Knowledge pool will so go into every of my multiplayer deck now. "It brings people together"
Regarding your new setup, I can't help but notice that not having a table is a bit of a drawback on a show about a TABLEtop game... ;)
Cam seems so excited about that knowledge pool deck at the end
My only compliant about the new set up is that the cards showing up on screen seems a bit small.
I feel you on pulling a bunch of the same shit rare. Pulled 3 life's finales from one New Phyrexia fat pack. Wound up with like 12 of them by the time New Phyrexia sealed product was no longer widely available.

I once countered a Cruel Ultimatum with Hindering Light in Shards draft. The look on my opponent's face? Priceless.
"It only takes ten poison to kill a man." -Graham Stark, 2015
That knowledge pool deck will be pure evil
I love it
That bant Exalted flying. SO GOOD!
Why no mention of the multitude of ways how you can lock your opponent from ever casting spells with knowledge pool?
So how do you divide the cards afterwards
I've been wondering this for a while now, and maybe it's been answered somewhere, but when you guys crack a pack, who keeps the cards?
Infiltration lens of Slate Street Ruffian, maybe with a combat trick or two. Now choose, take maybe 4 or 5, or discard a card and I get to draw 2?
I didn't see anyone mention this, but Venser teleported his Spark into Karn so Karn could resist the Phyrexian oil as planeswalkers have a natural defense against compleation. This caused Venser to die, since he didn't have his spark, and Karn to live. ALSO, Karn's abilities are flavorfully connected to his being a time-travelling silver golem. Could you guys possibly make the cards on screen a little bigger? I know Paul read's them out-loud, but it would be nice if we could read them.
I did play against someone who had Prototype Portal/Knowledge Pool as a win con. When they are all controlled by the same player that player decides what pool spells go into.

Volodanti XD
My EDH Deck has a Knowledge Pool and a Possibility Storm... And Perplexing Chimera.
... :I . . :O. . .:I
Liam Walters how many people just concede when you mention the cards being in the deck?
Liam Walters Is there space for a Eye of the Storm?
Mai Xiangjie If there isn't, I'll make room.
Liam Walters If I resolve a Perplexing Chimera in my Rubinia Soulsinger mind control deck, people usually scoop lol.
ok guys, in the next ttc i whant to see the knolagepool deck from cam ^^
I so wanna see that Knowledge pool deck!! Share it !
Crack Pack Concede
Why did you guys remove episode 84?
Waaaait a minute...I'll have you know I picked Mirrodin during my Mirrodin Besieged prerelease and I went undefeated! Of course having a sword of feast and famine and a victory's herald in my deck helped :D
A friend of mine played a Knowledge Pool in his Narset EDH deck last saturday. It was disgusting, especially cause he was playing a lot of instants.
Knowledge Pool with Isochron Scepter sounds appropriately horrific.
Weiss Schwartz is actually an awesome game and you should give it a shot.
weißschwarz? that character's called and "esset"
-note, if there is a proper spelling for "esset" then mine may not be it
SWEEEEEET new format!
The "best" (and by best I mean "surefire way to lose friends") use of knowledge pool involved using it in a deck with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir as your commander. two mythics in a row
10/10
I don't know why I keep watching this when I don't even play limited.
Can I send you guys random Japanese TCG packs...? Judging from the WS Miku pack.
I hadn't thought that infect would be in MM15, we know now that hierarch is in, so I want my entire infect deck to be in this set. With new art.
You don't have the date of rcording in the corner.
Was it "Weiß"? The last letter is called a "scharfes S" (sharp s) and only occurs in german as far as I know.
It is pronounced (es-tet), and appears in multiple Northern European languages. Is works like two Of the letter S.
Correction, it is called (es-tet) and pronounced "ss".
Prince of Thralls is quite good... He also happens to be my play mat...
i doubt venser will get a reprint due to Narset. Lead designer of Kahns block, in one of the recent articles said they wanted a WU plainswalker because venser is dead. Narset is essentially taking his place.
59:15 Cam, do it! Do it on camera! We want to see the flashback Knowledge Pool deck!
Hey, Knowledge Pool hard lock is an actual deck!
plague stinger?
Aw yeah, Venser! Interesting note, he pairs rather well with Karn Liberated for some disgusting double Plansewalker action.
Your talking of MM2015 has piqued my interest, are you guys coming to GP Vegas?
loadingreadyrun Weis Shwarz is a really neat game :D The whole game is based on anime and how power in anime works. cam build the comander deck and giv me the list. I am sou in to the knolege pool deck.
but for the same price as prince of thralls, you could cast nicol bolas, planeswalker
think about that
Rules question : Can you equip a creature with shroud ?
No. The keywords for "Equip," "Enchant," and "Fortify" all have "target" in their reminder text, so you can't put equipment onto a Shroud creature. Knowledge pool after darksteel forge there is no escape only the scoop. No artifact destruction removal. 😈💀
Is this the first planeswalker you've cracked on TTC?
I might just be a horrible person but knowledge pool sounds like a lot of fun the first time you play it.
+DenzaMan Just the first time. No thime after that. I speak from experience
For the nicknames podcast, if there is no better name I want 'Gore Swine' to be 'G-Swizzle'.
right before this was posted, they started spoilering MM2015
as was speculated, noble hierarch is being reprinted
yeeeeees, James~ play Weiss Schwarz~ it's fun~
no, seriously, once you figure out how to play, it's a really fun game, and I wish we had more players where I live. we used to just barely fire off the occasional tournament every other week, and now we're lucky if we ever have more than two people with decks on them at the same time.
Keep in mind one of the bigger reasons banners weren't picked was because there were so many morphs at the same cmc
Regarding Cam and Knowledge Pool: When did he stop being a human entity? Is he made entirely out of cruelty now? :D
knowledge pool during inistrad standard... with that curse that only allowed the cursed player to cast 1 spell a turn = no spells for you ever.... much fun at fnm was had for me with that
