San Miguel de Allende is a beautiful town to visit but not the place for me to live! I’ve been there several times before settling in Morelia where I could call a home. SMA is like a Disney to me, and I could get bored after a while. I hope you guys to return to Morelia again soon…
How is the security situation in Morelia, these days? My wife tweaks out at going to places with elevated State Department classifications. It was all I could do to get her to drive CDMX and Queretaro last year.
Oh, yes we hung out with them and some other black creators at Michelle's Influencer weekend. Good ppl, great vibes! Really sincerely got an appreciation for each person....as a person and the work they're doing!
We aren't certain yet if SMA will make our final location as a place to retire. So far, it's incredibly beautiful, we love living in Colonia Bellavista, and the people are amazing. It's expensive here, though, and we don't know yet if that boho artsy vibe (and I'm an artist) and the good food is enough to make up for the higher cost of living. We left Asheville, NC to move to Mexico, and SMA reminds me in many ways of Asheville. Everything costs more from a haircut to groceries. We will be here for a total of 3 months before we move onto the next city that is on our list. I just found your channel today and I'm a new subscriber - this was a GREAT video. I really liked your perspective and look forward to seeing more. Awesome job, guys! ~Gina

I find it interesting that you are collectively so into SMA. I spent six weeks in Guanajuato, back in 2009. Loved it. I had a travel motorcycle, so I could explore the region and country. The Gringification in SMA really put me off. Prices in dollars on menus, always getting the English menu when you sit down. Start a conversation in Spanish, and have it switched to English. It's like Mexico with training wheels and prices for the privilege. It's nice, but like Santa Fe, NM in Mexico. I thought GTO and QRO were far more authentic.

Hola, I met you at the Feria de Mezcal and I hope you found food after all that Mezcal! We remembered that there was a Feria de Comida in the Parque Llano in centro that we drove to. Tons of traditional food to eat. I bought a tlayuda and the guy even brought it to me at my table with salsa. They had a band playing and it was very festive. It will be there today too Sabado/ Saturday so I recommend eating there and walking over to see the big parade at 6pm. Have a great time! I resubscribed so I can see your next video. Randell that exit from the bar was classically hilarious 🤣 done like a true western cowboy…. All you needed was your gun belt on your hip and a cowboy hat. Love seeing us abroad. It’s Helping me build up my courage to venture out to other parts of MX. Blessings to you guys 🙏🏾
Thanks for showing us that town/city. It always look beautiful and charming. I had a good friend and her son move there from New Orleans. She knew little about that area except for the computer. She didn't get to explore much as when she got there she broke her ankle and needed surgery. Then Covid hit. She did rent a 2 Bedroon,2 bath house for $800mammonth. She did have to pay some utilities. She told me most were cheaper than the USA. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with cancer and after 3 years left for New Orleans.
Sad story I hope all is well with your friend now. We never advise jumping before you look. If you can do an investigation trip before moving it always helps.
As always, great, informative and engaging video. My husband and I live In Queretaro and we visited SMA. We felt like you Randell, too many gringos. We love the town, history and culture, however, my husband was bombarded with the locals hustling him. It is one thing to ask for money (which we did give to those who were in need) but it is another thing to be persistent after saying no (very respectfully) many times. It is the opposite In Queretaro, people ask for money, however, when we are not able to give, they are respectful and go on their way. They do not continue to hustle us. It was unfortunate that we had that experience because it left a bad taste in our mouth about the town. My husband and I seem to do better in areas that are more local and indigenous. We are committed to a one year rental lease which expires in May and we will be traveling through Mexico as Nomads. With the help of your great videos throughout the past couple of years, We are very excited to experience the many wonders of Mexico. Thank you for your love and hard work.
Choosing to make San Miguel de Allende your home offers numerous advantages. This charming Mexican town boasts a rich cultural heritage, stunning colonial architecture, and a vibrant arts scene, making it an ideal place for those seeking a culturally enriched lifestyle. The pleasant climate, with mild winters and warm summers, adds to its appeal. San Miguel de Allende also offers a relatively low cost of living compared to many Western countries, making it an attractive option for retirees and expatriates. Its welcoming community, excellent healthcare facilities, and a range of recreational activities further contribute to the quality of life in this picturesque town. Thanks, THE YARBROS!
I enjoyed this video and love when people can appreciate the city. I do question that it is over run by gringos. That is so not true in my opinion. On the weekends I see mostly Mexican tourists. If you want to see gringos go to Hanks or Bananas restaurants. Cheers!
Saludos from Tejas bro ❤ Austin TX to me is the people bro am Mexican and I don't know Mejico like that bro I know the border where my kinfolks from but that's nothing maan is sad I don't know Mejico 😢enjoy it carnal much love❤❤
Thanks for sharing such beautiful spots in Mexico. It's lovely to see it through a different lens and makes your content very enjoyable! One thing, though -- Mexico is in North America. A couple of times in this video you refer to North America as though Mexico isn't a part of it. Maybe it wasn't intentional ? In any case, I just wanted to put that out there. :)
Thanks! 🤣🤣🤣 I'm aware of Canada, the US and Mexico's positioning...funny thing is we had a huge debate during a live a couple of years ago and Most of MX doesn't believe in North, South or Central America....its just America so now I sometimes intentionally most of the time just me talking exclude them when I'm doing N. America since they don't identify w/ it.... anyway thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate you!
That's exactly how I felt before I met Michelle of Expatlife Mexico....hit springs, horsebackriding, vineyards...rooftop hopping, gallery hooping. We never have enough time to to all the things now that we know.
Just wanted to share that I keep a little “interests to-do” list in my phone so I don’t forget to research or ask about things whenever I’m in a new place! I tend to get caught up in finding a restaurant or the best beach or whatever, and then miss stuff I would’ve enjoyed. Some of mine are hiking trails, local bookstores, galleries, musical instrument stores, sewing and knitting stores and classes, etc. (yep, I’m a nerd lol) I’ve found some cool cooking and craft classes, books by local authors, etc, that I doubt I would’ve experienced on the standard tourist path.
@@leapintothewild makes sense, we each have our immersion things that we like to get into and we both enjoy foreign artwork and cooking new dishes. Thanks for sharing the wisdom of a list!
We don’t know if any are in Guanajuato. Veracruz, Guerrero, and Oaxaca are states to check out for Afro mexicano communities. The outer areas of San Miguel de Allende are rural.
@@TheYarbros We have to second that suggestion. We went to Delores Hidalgo twice and it is a great experience. So much history and it is amazing, only 30 minutes away, but it so flat. Check out the pottery and the ice cream.
Morelia - it’s a good blend of modern mixed with old, but a lot more modern than old. It’s filled with young people, eager to engage and not a lot of gringos. Plus it’s very affordable!
Hey folks, what’s up Yarbros? Thank you so much for representing our town and showing off the many things we love about SMA!! You are so right is the Best Small City in Mexico. Even watching the video made me have a smile from ear to ear and just grateful I live in SMA. So sorry we missed you guys however, I know our paths will cross one day.
Seems very much like a city we cannot really afford. We're seeking smaller pueblas where we can live affordably. Would love to see SMA but giving a hard pass as a place to live.
We try not to over inflate anything on our channel it costs more than most other places in MX and you can definitely get more bang for your dollar in other cities. Best wishes in your hunting!
You might want to check out Guanajuato, it's not too far from SMA, but way more reasonably priced. I befriended a 15-year ex-pat there who's living in a 2 bed/1 bath apartment for $200 a month (yes USD). His place was safe, quiet and had an amazing town view, and his rent incl utilities and internet! A big bene is Guanajuato's Int'l Airport isn't far away from the center of town.
You went to Prairie Veiw? My uncle is Dr. Berry. He has the there for ever. My family lives in Hempstead. I'm in San Antonio. When I move to Queretaro we gotta meet up.
Hempstead! This a blast from the past! I had a homegrown that took a group of us to her home there...free food and a washing machine...& her mom washed all our clothes lol GOAT 🤣 Maybe we can kink when we come back. We still have one outstanding story to cover in Mexico.
Very informative video. Thanks.... The gentrification and the prices the gringos are willing to pay for everything is simply sad and disgusting. The local people are prices out of their own town
Welcome to the reality of most of the world. Gringos aren't raising prices, that's just propaganda and ignorance. I am the only "gringo" probably in a 2 mile radius in Merida. Guess who's buying and renting these homes? Mexicans who don't want to live in the bad parts of town. Maybe cry about this your friends, because you're totally off base.
Love the way you describe SMDA I loved the city the times I´ve been there, also Guanajuato, love that people from other countries come and enjoy and respect our culture, also sometimes learn some good things from it. Your channel is great for people that still "fear" México to not be "afraid" of us, all of us aren´t villains, the good guys, WE are more. If you haven´t been to Mazatlan, try it, vibe and people are different, not in a bad way, the "bad" thing is that it is in Sinaloa, state of pretty much most of the known narcos in the country but still, is a place that deserves to be visited and it is also cheap. Question to you as african americans, Have you experienced racism in México because of the color of your skin? I´m asking this since there is an Afro-Mexican culture donwn in the south. I´m asking this cause I love history and I´d like to know foreigner´s POV on this Love your channel. Enjoy our country :)
Thank you so much for commenting. We have not experienced direct racism while in Mexico. But I really want to know your views. I'd love to interview you sometime to understand what Afro-Mexicans go through here. We were heading to Cuajincuilapa but our plans got canceled. Contact us if you dont mind an interview our email: nomadicyarbro@gmail.com
Just visited for Christmas and new year’s. I didn’t get a negative vibe , except from some of the Americans that were there. I’m not sure if they were permanent expats or visitors. But my god I love San Miguel de Allende! All ready planning to return.

Thanks, THE YARBROS!
hey guys are ya :) my Aunt is there right now.. love SMDA
Hola!
The intro is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 We need to visit that place!
Thanks, it's definitely worth visiting a few days!
I been 2 San Miguel 3 times its a great city !
we agree!
Hi guys welcome back to your house god bless
Thank you!
I enjoyed this video and love when people can appreciate the city.
I do question that it is over run by gringos. That is so not true in my opinion. On the weekends I see mostly Mexican tourists. If you want to see gringos go to Hanks or Bananas restaurants.
Cheers!
Cheers!
San Miguel , beautiful, things to do, but definitely a soft landing.
Yes, very soft lol
Me gustan sus vídeos saludos!!!.
GRACIAS!!!
Beautiful thank you
Miss you much! Glad you liked it!
This video is EVERYTHING!!!

Those ponchos you guys wear look great. Where did you get them?
Thanks we love em! Got them in Peru.
In my bucket list
You'll enjoy it!
I've been there! Is beautiful but not much to do..
That's exactly how I felt before I met Michelle of Expatlife Mexico....hit springs, horsebackriding, vineyards...rooftop hopping, gallery hooping. We never have enough time to to all the things now that we know.
@@TheYarbros cool! I didn't stay long enough to discover all of that. Love your channel ❤️
@@MrsLopez1 We love your appreciation!🤗🤗🤗
Thanks for sharing the wisdom of a list!
love your VLOGs!!!
We feed off of that Love Thank you!
Hi! Great video. Are there black Mexicans there? Also, does it have rural areas?
We don’t know if any are in Guanajuato. Veracruz, Guerrero, and Oaxaca are states to check out for Afro mexicano communities.
The outer areas of San Miguel de Allende are rural.
@@TheYarbros OK. Thank you for the information!
Great place there but I recommend the city of Dolores Hidalgo about an hour away north. It's known for its true Mexico life.
Okay, thanks!
@@TheYarbros We have to second that suggestion. We went to Delores Hidalgo twice and it is a great experience. So much history and it is amazing, only 30 minutes away, but it so flat. Check out the pottery and the ice cream.
Very pretty place😮
Gorgeous....thanks for watching!
Excellent !!
Thank you!
So you mentioned San Miguel isn't your *favorite* city in Mexico. Which is?
Morelia - it’s a good blend of modern mixed with old, but a lot more modern than old. It’s filled with young people, eager to engage and not a lot of gringos. Plus it’s very affordable!
@@TheYarbros Thanks.
Awesome video
Hey folks, what’s up Yarbros? Thank you so much for representing our town and showing off the many things we love about SMA!! You are so right is the Best Small City in Mexico. Even watching the video made me have a smile from ear to ear and just grateful I live in SMA. So sorry we missed you guys however, I know our paths will cross one day.
It was absolutely our pleasure! Looking forward to meeting-up...till the stay safe and enjoy our cool city!
@@btjazzfann Yes, we've been there. Beautiful city and awesome history but not quite urban enough for me.
Beautiful vid!!!
Thank you!!
@The Yarbros No doubt! I'm in San Antonio TX but my wife if from Mexico, so we plan on moving on back to Mexico.
Very informative video. Thanks.... The gentrification and the prices the gringos are willing to pay for everything is simply sad and disgusting. The local people are prices out of their own town
Sad but a fact if life that has been happening there for over 30 years. Thanks for tuning in.
Just suscribed
Your videos strike me as very professionally produced.
Thank you very much.
I´m asking this cause I love history and I´d like to know foreigner´s POV on this
Love your channel.

I'm from guanajuato, yes yes👍love to see that everyone is welcome, multicultural yes
