    Thank you for the excellent advice in your videos and for creating the resume template, which I am using. I am an older artist, and have had a full career as a musician. I have listed some art courses I have taken over the years, though I am largely self-taught, and feel I should list my BA and MM, which are in music. Should I not? Music does figure in my artist biography and in fact I sometimes create music to go with my paintings. If you have a moment, would you kindly advise? i look forward to more videos from you,

    I have a masters in mediamatics and I majored in visual arts which is photography, art history, digital art and adobe suite. (It also had writing, journalist training and video editing and short film creation.) Should I explain what mediamatics is in my resume as most people seem to not know and what I focused on during my studies? Thank you

    If you are a multidisciplinary artist should you be making separate CVs. Say you work in film or illustration, design, self publish, is there a way you should be incorporating this into your artist cv or should you have a different cv for that?

    Thank you for the very informative video! I have a question regarding my work experience and education. I am currently transitioning from illustration/animation to contemporary art/fine arts. Should I include my previous work experience at animation/illustration studios, as well as my experience as an art teacher for kids, in my CV, even though my art style and career goals have changed?
    Regarding education, what are your thoughts on situations where education is incomplete, or where a person has dropped out or was unable to graduate? I was accepted, studied, and was granted a full scholarship at a renowned art university, but unfortunately couldn't graduate. Should I mention it in my CV as "incomplete," considering it's an excellent and highly competitive university, or would this create a negative first impression?
    Currently, my CV includes one small exhibition, a few buyers and a significant international award. I would like to know if it's worth including my previous work experiences or if it would have more drawbacks than benefits.
    Thank you in advance!

    • @contemporaryartissue
      @contemporaryartissue  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can definitely include your experience at the start of your career. When you have more notable information to share, you can always remove it later. When it comes to your second question, I would not add "incomplete" but simply write down the year(s) you studied. Hope this might help!

    Hello, and thank you for this helpful presentation.
    I have a question for you about the gallery's mentions : When can we say that a gallery represents us? I mean, is it when a gallery shows and sells our work as a long-time partner, or is it just when our work is shown and sold at its place, nevermind if it is just a "one shot"?
    Thanks a lot !

    • @contemporaryartissue
      @contemporaryartissue  ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Jacques, thank you for tuning in and for an excellent question. The difference between a represented artist and an exhibited artist is a long-term collaboration (represented) or a one-shot (exhibited) collaboration. This is not always as clearly distinct at a lower level, but in higher realms of the art world, it becomes more important for dealer exclusivity and also because of what an artist expects from their gallery when they become their representation. Hope this might clarify things! Have a great day

  • @wafflecotton

    bit of a tricky question - if one has an exhibition history of mostly showing "moving image" work in cinema spaces - does one include these under the same headings "selected group exhibitions" etc, or should there be separate sections for gallery shows and cinematic presentations? For example, I've also seen film exhib history listed in a cv under "filmography" followed by festival credits for each film - which is maybe more profesional but also looks a bit clunky I think. Would be curious to hear your thoughts. Many thanks for your informative videos.

    • @contemporaryartissue
      @contemporaryartissue  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a very interesting question; thank you. I believe it kind of depends on how you view your moving images, as film or as video art. If you see them as film, I would indeed create a subheading with filmography. If it is the latter, you can add them to your exhibition history. Have a great day!

    When you sell a piece do you list it in the privet collection? Or only if the privet collector is famous?

    • @contemporaryartissue
      @contemporaryartissue  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. Only share private collectors if they are renowned or famous. Otherwise, you would simply be sharing your list of clients publicly, which is not to be advised, nor is it a relevant asset to see an unreputable collector has acquired your work. I hope this answers your question!

    I'm a self taught "re-emerging" artist (black female artists weren't a thing in the 90s) but all my experience was literally before web 2.0. My old collectors are gone. My style is completely different as I'm 20 years older. I am a totally new artist again so... I guess I just put 'nothing' under these sections and skip the schools? Argh. It looks like an empty resume. Almost cute in its simplicity 😂

    Quick Question: If I want to use an artists name, should I write it in my name? or is that frowned upon?

    • @contemporaryartissue
      @contemporaryartissue  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The first question would be; is it necessary to have an artist name? Ever since Banksy, artists are coming up with artist's names by the dozen. With Banksy's story of being anonymous, this is relevant. But is it relevant in your case? If so, then yes, and do it consistently. If not, I would advise you to use your own name.
