@@jamesd5241 when you see him fiddling with the screw on the bottom, im assuming its a ball detent in the crank spindle and ball plunger in the frame with a locknut.. or if more ghetto, just a bolt (maybe with brass or aluminum tip) just putting friction on the crank spindle. When you see him spin after adjusting it looks like it 'slots into the level pedal setting. So on the crank spindle there are little holes or 'detents' for the spring loaded ball plunger(in the frame) to hold cranks in place but still allow cranking if needed. With a ball detent you can adjust how much force is required to get out of the detent by adjusting the bolt you see him working on the bottom of the bb.

@@SRAM amazing. Thanks for the reply. Is there a technical term for this part? Is it something proprietary from Trek, or do most free ride bikes have this feature?
@@Cheezus6359 Yeah, I always thought the dual crown was to avoid the headtube snapping, but I'm not entirely sure about that. To distribute force to both sides of the headtube? But i could be wrong. Technology has come a long way since downhill bikes were invented.
@@slimkdnvr I was going to add that because it does make sense that a triple crown would be stronger. Still, I think Brandon would snap before his fork does but lets not jinx him
People have been riding rampage on single crowns for a very long time. The typical idea of a 'freeride bike' used to have a single crown fork (canyon torque etc...) and barspins (not sure about tailwhips) have been done before. As enduro bikes took the place of freeride bikes, freeride bikes disappeared meaning that seeing a bike like this which is a big travel burly bike that spin tricks can be done on is very uncommon now. But freeride used to typically use a single crown fork which riders such as kurt sorge are known for taking advantage of.
@@bensblues interesting, I didnt notice, but you are right. 2012 had a lot of single crown action. Perhaps the dual crown needs to be eliminated entirely? seems pointless now, with modern technology coming so far
custom crank damper, so the cranks require more force to spin and don't move around when he's doing tail whips or other foot off tricks. Don't need to pedal much on Rampage (no pedaling on some lines)... not sure how it works, might be shell that squeezes the BB axle?
@@ManKidCSclearly a custom job. My assumption is that they drilled a hole in the frame and then threaded it. I assume there is then a grub screw with a bit of plastic on the end to press against the crank spindle inside the frame. Then the screw can be adjusted to get the right resistance. Someone else suggested a sick idea, where you have a spring loaded ball detent as part of the mechanism. That way even if your cranks did spin, they would snap back into the level position as the ball would go into the detent.
Real nice, but personally I'd rather see FMX style tricks & big bikes at rampage then turning it into a slopestyle contest. B.S is without a doubt the GOAT though!!!
Now THAT is a Semenuk bike 👀.
Beast!!! Wheel size?
27.5/26

He's gonna tailwhip and barspin the whole course
Backflip barspin off a massive cliff
When I saw not a double crown fork I was thinking only about barspins and tailwhips
And he did!

It’s actually a piece of high density plastic that pushes against the crank spindle. For dub it’s a 29mm inner diameter.
What a hell of a rig! I'm excited what the goat has planed.. Get it Brandon!
Very nice build! Can’t wait to see it in his natural environment 😁💪🏽
I have to say the cutter of the video did a damn great job. Everything ist timed right and it doesn’t feel like you would miss anything out
