@@yaritzamiranda921 Yeah, apparently they're all still very close. As terrible parents as they were in the movie, they seem to have been the opposite in real life.
yes. One of the most important things she said was that her parents described her acting as a hobby, not a career. Therefore, there was no pressure for her to continue if it didn't work out or she found something else she wanted to do. A lot of kids- and their parents- you see today on reality shows about them wanting to be famous describe performing as their career when they're young children. 9 year olds don't have careers.
Also, all three of the child actors from "The Neverending Story" had successful non-acting careers... Barret Oliver became a photographer who specialized in old-style Victorian techniques, Tami Stronach operated a dance school, and Noah Hathaway became a tattoo artist.
Unfortunately not true about the sequels, though. RIP Jonathan Brandis.
Mad respect for child actors who got out before it ruined their lives.

I love that the kid who played Jack in Hook grew up to be a lawyer considering that was the whole joke of Robin Williams's character in the movie.
exactly! Part of me suspects he and Robin reconnected at some point and had a good laugh about it.
He was a brilliant actor. I’m always thrilled when child actors get out of the game because it shows their calling was somewhere else. And there were able to break away and reach their alternate goals. But that kid…man he was just amazing. I was only a teen when Dick Tracy came out and I remember being so enthralled by his performance. To me he stole the whole film.
That is hugely ironic and funnily coincidental including the kid in Home Improvement who winded up building up houses. Lol
Mara Wilson was supposed to make a cameo in the Matilda remake but she didn't want to fly all the way to England for just one day of filming

I knew Julianna. She was best friends with a friend of mine, and we all did a camp programme together as kids. She was really nice and totally normal. We just hung out like normal kids.
Don't forget Carrie Henn in Aliens. She only had the one role, but she crushed it. How do you improve upon perfection? She's a teacher now.
That I personally know, she was my fourth grade teacher when I was a kid, and she was pretty cool.

When I saw the show Lazy Town, I thought it had a cooler name when I got older. Actually. I’m so happy about Julianna is working with kids. I love children. Definitely not in a creepy way, of course. Kids are so cute and most are innocent.

6:27 - with Peter Ostrum, I can't believe you passed on using a quote from the film - "Charlie, Don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he always wanted. What happened? He lived happily ever after" and I think Peter did just that.
Fun fact: Jeff Cohen is now the entertainment lawyer for his Goonies costar Key Huy Quan, and helped get him the role in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once.

Well, she wasn't exactly a child on the show but Staci Keanan, who played Dana on "Step by Step", is now a deputy district attorney and law professor. Those seem like the moves Dana would make too, given her character.
She was a kid on "My Two Dads".

I'm surprised Shirley Temple wasn't on the list since she's practically the definition of a child star.
While Shirley Temple was definitively successful after childhood, being an ambassador is not a normal job.
It's nice to see that these child stars got out of Hollywood when they did to go on and lead relatively normal lives. And not burning out like other child stars.

Another good example of child actors are Art Parkinson and Thomas Brodie Sangster who were both in GOT. Great child actors ins stuff like Dracula Untold and Nanny McPhee and San Adreas(2015) and The Last Legion(2007)

Both these people still act though. The point of the video is people who were actors as kids then chose to quit acting and move on to a normal job.

What about Danielle Spencer? She was Dee on What's Happening! She became a veterinarian, just as she vowed as a child.

I barely watched LazyTown ofc it was after my time but I always loved how wholesome the show and actors were. Amazing to see how some kid stars grew up in a positive way.

This was very fascinating, thank you. I already knew about several of these, but some were surprises, such as Danny Lloyd.
What I found fascinating was how many of them became lawyers. That's really interesting. And shout out to the 2 professors. I'm a teacher myself (not on the college level), so that was great to see.

Carrie Henn (Newt from Aliens) - Henn is now an elementary school teacher at Shaffer Elementary School in Atwater, California where she also resides. She still keeps in touch with her Aliens co-star Sigourney Weaver.
It’s nice to see some children acters grow up and succeed. Sometimes I feel bad for them after only hearing about those that fail as adults or those that keep acting but throw themselves closer to overly sexualized content.
Not enough drama in those that make it fine so we don’t get to hear anything about them. So, thank you.
Yes. I often wondered what happened to Josh Saviano and Danica McKellar 😮. Two huge stars from one show who you rarely saw after the show ended. I do remember, for a few years, that people thought Marilyn Manson was ACTUALLY Josh Saviano. That was one of the craziest things in music for awhile

Sometimes I wish that you remember that there are some viewers out there over the age of 35. Two deserving people who should have been on this list are Pamelyn Ferdin and Missy Gold. Ferdin seemed to be in everything between 1964 and 2000. She has 78 screen credits and countless television and print advertisement credits. When she was 18 she left acting and received a degree in nursing. She went on to specialize in emergency and surgical nursing. She is also a noted animal rights activist. Gold left acting after growing up on the TV show BENSON. She now has a Ph.D. and is a practicing psychologist.
What about Aleisha Allen, Brigit Mendler or Jennifer Stone?!

Peter Ostrum played the most moral child in the movie, it seems obvious that he would land himself a career in helping others.
Fun fact: Any time a local school district runs a play of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, you're sure to find Peter Ostrum in the audience.

Two Canadians-Lisa Jakub, who was in Mrs. Doubtfire and Independence Day, as well as Due South. She is now a writer and yoga teacher. Also, Maureen McKay of Degrassi Junior High-she's now a lawyer, like many of the ones mentioned in the video.

I recently saw a photo of Danny Lloyd hanging out with the shining twins off set. The twins were all smiling and didn't seem creepy at all.

Friend of mine was a kid actor in the late 70s/early 80s, became a homebuilder here in Texas and has done some awesome non-prof work w/ his church to boot.
These celebrities were smart to see that there is more to life than all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood
