I took my Mudmaster up Ben Nevis just after getting it in 2021 and was amazed at the accuracy of the altimeter. I tracked our ascent all the way up on it and it was spot on, perfect to the metre when on the trig point. It's a big chunk of watch that doesn't get much wrist time when I'm not hiking or camping. But for the outdoors, the proper outdoors, not just a Sunday walk, it's fantastic.

The ultimate test for any watch is if it can survive a road trip on a vintage Harley Davidson… Trust me I had a FXD Wide Glide last of the Shovel Head motors, the vibrations were insane my lady friends loved it. 😂😂😂😊😊😊

I think there's no better watch than the Mudmaster for that job, lol.
The vibration resistance alone makes it a tier above other G-Shocks, let alone all other watches.

I own and love the green one. It's a darker green than the original, which for me, makes it less military looking. The green one is the only one with white digits, which I also prefer.

I have the old discontinued GWG-1000 by todays standards and it's a big but brilliant watch. This watch should out live me by many decades. It's solar powered and has the time signal synchronisation but no Bluetooth and that's fine. All the same sensors for compass, altitude etc. I also have a Pro Trek PRG-600 that does not have the time signal sync but is a much slimmer watch for other occasions, it's positive display is also a tad better but there isn't that much in it. This new model should be even better than my Mudmaster but I'll stick with mine. When you buy a Mudmaster you don't need to upgrade to the latest version unless it has a key feature that you really need as the old one will keep on going for a very long time. Many thanks Harrison (as always) for sharing.

    • @StardustLegacyFighter

Thankfully, the GWG-1000 hasn't been completely discontinued yet, as many dealers still have a healthy stock of it.

@@StardustLegacyFighter That's nice to know, although arguably not as good as the new version there are people who really like the old one. The Pro Trek PRG-600 although not available from Casio UK can still be purchased from other countries.

You forgot to mention that this Mudmaster's compass has an automatic horizontal, magnetic declination and orientation correction function. This is a very useful feature, that Casio first implemented in the Gulfmaster GWN-Q1000 and Frogman GWF-D1000B.

Good thing to know about casio and other solar watches. Is that you can charge them in indoor lighting. It takes a longer time. But it works. I live in Norway. In wintertime, we have some time with the sun in the morning down south. But it goes away fast. And it starts to get dark around 4pm. Up north, you dont see the sun. My solar g-shocks and Seiko just need indoor lighting. LED lights work best.

Multiple reasons for why that could have happened:
      - The crown might not have been screwed in properly.
      - You pressed the buttons underwater
      - The O rings responsible for the water resistance have either been damaged or removed.

At least a mechanical watch with a rotor you shake your arm or wind it and works, he even said it in the video, he was in low light condition which affected the function, genius. And you’re wrong, a mechanical watch will outlive the Mud Master in the video which has a battery and will die eventually, the microchip will rust, you live it in a drawer in the dark for years or two and one will work the other wont. @@frankv7068You're an ignorant fool, period.
Literally, all solar powered G-Shocks have a power reserve that lasts many months.
It doesn't require direct sunlight for basic functions and timekeeping, all you need is a basic light source.
In terms of longevity, G-Shocks only require a battery change every 2-5 years or so and 10+ years for solar ones.
Mechanical watches require a lot of maintenance, and that costs far more than a battery change for a Quartz watch.
I have no idea where you get the idea of rust from, since they use stainless steel and resin parts, both of which can't rust, unless you expose the watch to acid, which would also kill a Rolex.
Lastly, these G-Shocks will always keep better time than your Rolex, even without the automatic sync, and isn't that the most critical element of a watch?

    • @StardustLegacyFighter
      @StardustLegacyFighter 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

That Mudmaster only has a 2 year battery, and is the most basic watch in the entire line-up.
Instead of making a fuss about it, you could have easily got battery changed and continued using it.
Just because automatic watches don't rely on a battery, doesn't mean they're superior.
They require a lot of expensive maintenance, are more prone to damage when dropped and can't even keep more accurate time than a £10 Quartz watch.
