Just bought the RV-500 today due to your video and sharing this setting... it was the only setting I missed from the BigSky AND the fact it runs on batteries sold me! With many performances being outdoors going forward this is a no brainer.
Great patch! I’m so grateful to you for making this video! It’s impossible for a single Reverb pedal to do everything that one needs in the studio and on stage. I have time to edit and get things right. Thanks again 🙏!!
i've had the rv-500 for a loooong time. i just discovered your videos and it has opened up a new world for me in terms of usability for this thing. thank yoU!
I just wanted to say thanks for the awesome patch tutorial! The Cloud function was pretty much my favorite sound out of the Big Sky. I like everything else about the RV-500 better in terms of flexibility, edit-ability. I can't spend like I used to on pedals, so if I'm dropping over $300 on a pedal, it's going to live on my board for years, so futureproof-ness was important to me too. I just received my RV-500 today and I promptly read through the manual and started messing with settings. Making a good sound is harder than I thought it'd be. Having a concise tutorial made it so much easier. Thank you! Liked and subscribed!
Great job man,I love all my 500 series pedals,They are capable of sooo so much:).The wav fiction alone yields tons of options.I am using all 3 500's with my cello, violin and synth,so much fun!
Great work and thanks for sharing! I sold my Bigsky and have had 4 other reverb pedals since and none have got me that close to the cloud engine/algorithm than your example. I play ambient fusion using multiple instruments - sometimes using drones and loops to build over... cloud setting was great touch.
LOL!!! That’s a WHOLE BUNCH of tweaking and screens to get a “kind of close” cloud sound. Strymon is also SO much easier to use. I personally would rather have the pedal this one is trying to copy.
RV-500 is more powerful. It also has a cool feature called “saving a preset” so once you’ve got your sound where you want it, you don’t have to ever tweak it again:)
dolomick are you being serious? The big sky has 300 presets. And who would ever need 300 presets of reverb. But if you did, you can tweek and save 300 diff ones on the big sky. The bigger point here is, how much time and tweaking is being done on boss to basically emulate a sound you could literally just turn the knob to get on big sky.
This pedal isn’t trying to copy Strymon just because a person is making one sound that gets close to one sound on a BigSky. There are so many things this pedal can do that a BigSky can’t (coming from someone who sold my BigSky and replaced it with this).

Damn the RV-500 has a more natural take on that, it seems so effortless when you turn it on.
Thank you for sharing this patch. I have tried it and sounds wonderful. I wait your shimmer patch soon!!
This is great! Just programmed it into my RV 500. Sounds so good!
Boss RV-500 sounds more natural foe me in Beyerdynamics tesla headphones

Damn, thanks! I actually like the sound of the Boss version better, which makes me feel good about my purchase
very-very nice... I would love to see more RV-500 patches from you
Thank you very, very much for that!
You nailed it, thanks
I have both pedals...and think your RV-500 cloud actually sounds better... Thanks... ☺️
Finally. I couldn't afford the big sky so I went with the Rv500. Sounds good but it's hard to dial things in.
Great video!!
nice offering. Thanks
it’s KINDA similar but the big sky has a smooth metallic graininess to it that the rv doesn’t. To me, that’s a key component to the sound.
Lol
That is a good thing or a bad thing ?
Great sounding patch. Out of curiosity do you turn off the delay on the rv500 or leave it on? Same question for your shimmer patch. Thanks
delay is off I think, this was very long ago so I cant be 100% sure but I dont think any of my patches used the delay
@@YukiTheSynthDragon thank you
Do you still use this pedal?
I do not.
Wish you would of Let each sound Decay out to silent so we can really hear the Reverb cuz you're switching so fast between both
rv500 is fantastic
More)))

I am. Very much so!
