- Metal edging is the perfect way to create crisp and easy to maintain lines between garden beds and gravel areas. It doesn’t take much to install it to a high degree of quality, and it looks very clean when you’re done!
Make a very easy edge to line trim against and keep materials from mixing. Much better than a standard plastic edging which is impossible to keep straight.

I want to use this soooo bad! I'm dying to have more of a modern look. But it's sooooo expensive 😢
How thick of a mortar bed would you suggest? Also do you lay it as a dry bed?
I lay it in a pretty dry mortar base, usually about 3' depth and 4' wide.
Hey Kevin, love your videos. I'm in Cobble Hill. You know my friend Nate I believe, we do design work together. Say where did you get your metal edging from? Thanks!
Hey yes indeed! Great to connect with you! I get the metal edging from Metal Supermarkets on Keating x rd in saanich.
@@HardscapeCanada ah right, I'll check them out. Many thanks!
Do you use the 1/8”. (11ga) for radius walkways/beds also? Curious on the bending radius vs typical 14ga.
I haven’t done much for curves or radius’s, but the 1/8” would curve nicely for sure. Would have to be a bit careful not to overdo it!
Hi Kevin, can you share what steel edging you are using in this video? Thanks!
Hey yes it’s 1/8” x 6” wide steel! It can be purchased at most metal supply shops, our local store is called Metal Supermarkets
Thank you! I’ve been wondering where to get the heavier duty looking steel edging🙏
Where I live they use 3”x2”x1/8”unequal steel angle with rebar rods to hold it in place. Do you think the mortar bed is necessary to keep its shape?
how do you stake it????
Hey i stake them with rebar stakes about 3/4 of the way up, and then do a mortar curb and fine tune straighten before it sets up.
@@HardscapeCanada Do you ever put any finish on the steel? Or, do you just let it do its thing and gain that good rust look.
@danielvargas9100 hey I just let it rust out! That’s what the people want!
