Popular all over the world except New South Wales where the sport was born. Unfortunate, but we are lucky to get any racing here at all. I think it's one of the greatest racing events ever, and I'd love to see it get more coverage.

They were racing around 2 barrels in the outback @ Broken Hill on clay flats before organised speedway competitions in Australia

Speedway has grown? Far from it. It used to see crowds in the tens of thousands in the UK, now you'll be lucky to get 2000. Obviously not counting the British GP which thankfully does pull a decent crowd, though, never fills the stadium. Only in Poland is it really big business, but even then, did you see the crowds at the Polish events (the 2 leg final) of the Speedway of Nations this year? Hardly anyone there, by Polish standards at least.

Pricing of tickets has caused a lot of lack luster crowd turn outs here in the outback we are charged 25 $ per adult for normal meetings and everything in the place is over priced i have loved speedway all my life since a child but pricing is the key to getting people in but over charging for everything is what keeps most away

Very inaccurate, Nust have been produced by a Aussie! SPEEDWAY boardtract Racing preceeded SPEEDWAY Dirt and has been around since the single diget 1900's. Now that I've straitened that out I might add I'm just glad we have it both as a racer and spectater!

This is one version of speedway history and it is very innacurate. With a little research you'll find that speedway racing already existed in Australia and the United States prior to WW1.

With all the so called history of Aussie speedway there’s mention of the infamous Maroubra speedway
