Christmas Tree cakes are also better for 3 reasons. The first reason is that they have colored sugar sprinkles on them, the next is that they come in chocolate or Vanilla, and finally, on the package there are little Christmas present tags on them that I used to love using on my parents presents when I was a Child. Boom!
Chocolate or vanilla is a relatively new development for me. As a kid, they only had the original zebra cakes cut into tree shapes with red stripes and green sugar.

Thank you for explaining the difference between the sizes of the Oatmeal Creme Pies. I have said repeatedly and it's true the bigger ones are better because the little ones need more cream. FACTS!!!👏👏👏

Oatmeal creme pies were the first Little Debbies that I had, but then I got to try the Swiss rolls, zebra cakes, nutty bars, fancy cakes, fudge rounds, and star crunches...oh, and the regular brownies. I still remember my brother reading the ingredients on the zebra cakes box and excitedly announcing that one of the ingredients was also used in the SR-71. @@ItsaSouthernThing never. But how bout a breakdown of the 41. 6 here so 7 more episodes of 5. Then have the winners of wach episodes compete against each other. That is 8 in one episode, but I believe in Matt.
I agree the Christmas tree cake is definitely best ! We live in Chattanooga ten minutes from the Little Debbie store where they are made and we buy like 5 boxes every year !
For once I actually agree and approve of your rating, Matt. Swiss Cake is the Champion! The cosmic brownies needs to go and be replaced with the fudge rounds. Just saying.
I won't say it's the best, but i miss the apple spice cakes LD made when i was a kid. Very tasty and whenever I see a LD posting I bring it up, vainly hoping they'll come back.
My aunt used to work at Little Debbie in NW Arkansas when I was a kid. We’d go to visit her and she had a CUPBOARD full of LD’s. My mom was a crunchy mom so me and my brother would like LIVE in the cupboard for two weeks. Best memories ever, thanks for reminding me of it! 👍
"Zebra cakes and Christmas tree cakes are not the same." THANK YOU! When we started the video, I mentioned how I love Christmas tree cakes above all and my wife said they were exactly the same. You have proven that I am correct. I can now strut around my house in my rightness for the rest of the evening.
I just about agree completely with this ranking. Although, I would argue that the fall snack cakes are the superior seasonal little debbie. All the goodness of a Zebra Cake, but with chocolate frosting instead of vanilla.
Oatmeal cream pies are definitely more southern than “Swiss” cakes, and tastier. Plus, the oatmeal gives them a tiny bit of healthiness. So definitely number one! Sorry, you just made a mistake. We all do.
When I was like 11 I was having a sleep over, and we basically had no snacks in the house. I ended up eating like 5 oatmeal cream pies that night and I haven't eaten one since, and I'm 28. I used to love them, but binge eating them one night ruined them for me forever. The thought of eating one is so unappetizing now. It's been 17 years and the flavor is still burnt into my tongue and mind whenever I see one.
My dad and I used to like Cosmic Brownies, but somewhere along the way it seems like they changed something and now they don't taste nearly as good. My favorite non-seasonal Little Debbie treats are caramel cookie bars. It's like a larger Twix bar but better. And of course Christmas Tree Cakes are amazing.
Johnny’s Big Burgers in Clarksville TN has Honey Buns on their menu. They heat a Honey Bun on the grill until the bottom is a little crispy & the honey begins to melt. It’s served with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Pure heaven!🤤😋
Oatmeal Cream Pie are my favorite. Your assessment of Christmas Tree Cake vs Zebra Cakes was perfect. I always eat any of these with a Dr Pepper and then ping for about an hour afterward. I have a low sugar tolerance but it doesn't stop me.
I personally used to eat the hell out of the Strawberry Shortcake Rolls. I've finally gotten out of that phase, but man did those get me through a lot of high school
I like warming up the Honey Buns. Then grab some bacon jerky and sometimes hard boiled egg. BOOM you got a full breakfast from your local gas station . It’s like having pancake and eggs with bacon eaten by hand. So so good 😋🥰
Me too! Just said that in another comment. I know he said our favorite wouldn’t be there but I was a little surprised neither fudge round nor star crunch made the cut 🤷♀️ I guess our superior taste buds allow us to have the experience only the select few ever find. That being said, the OCP out of these should have won
I was with you right up until the end. The oatmeal creme pies are far superior to all other little Debbie snacks. I do believe you may have had a stroke at the critical moment in claiming who is number 1. 😁
For those that may be unfamiliar with Little Debbie's exploits: the difference between Zebra Cakes at #5 and Cosmic Brownies at #6 is GIGANTIC! Zebra Cakes are delicious, meanwhile, I wouldn't recommend Cosmic Brownies to my worst enemy.
You must do a part two for this so you will accept that Little Debbie Donut Sticks are the best Little Debbie Snack. Imagine early spring mornings, rockin' on the fenced porch, big cup of coffee in one hand and dippin' a Donut Stick in the other. Ah, the slight chill in the air and that smell of fresh mowed grass. Of course you already mowed on the weekend. Tom next door woke up early and realized he needed to mow before the HOA sent a letter. So his mowing at 6 am in the dark woke you God awful early. And Tom doesn't care that he woke you early. You can complain about the early mowing but the HOA doesn't care about early noise complaints, only late ones. Dammit Tom! Just don't hold the Donut Stick too long in the coffee or it gets all soggy and falls apart in your coffee, though this does have it's merits. Thanks!
Donut sticks are underrated for sure. But I have to say, if I'm in a convenience store and looking at snack cakes for breakfast, I'm usually going for blueberry muffins, hostess fruit pies or donettes.
Out of these 6, I would put Oatmeal Creme Pies in first. My favorite LD, however, is the scrumptious Raisin Creme Pies. Something about the creme and the breading hits different. Sooo tasty, and I enjoy raisins, so it’s a win for me.
My favorites were always the Devil Squares and the Fudge Rounds. The Devil Squares are becoming very hard to fund though. All the white cakes taste the same to me and the leave a film on the roof of my mouth. But I'll tear up the chocolate-covered Christmas Tree cakes in a heart beat.
Growing up my dad's best friend was a Little Debbie Vendor and an antique/hotrod car collector. I remember him taking me for a ride in 29 Ford Sedan and his 27 T Bucket as a little kid. Later on in life, as a teenager I would help this man around his house mowing, painting etc. I remember how scared I was to mow or paint around his cars, in fear I'd break window or damage the paint. These were $90k cars. Good memories. Back in those days I was like the Bob Seger song "Like A Rock"
"In the AC, where God intended us to be" 🤣 Although I feel the OCP's should be 1st, I respect Matt's decision 👏 with great power comes great responsibility. I'm gonna say it, where is Star Crunch? 🤔
Honorable mention, of the lesser known: Banana Twins, Strawberry Shortcake rolls, and I liked those seasonal egg nog rolls (not sure if they still make them).
I like stale banana twin cakes. Open a pack when you're making coffee, and by the time you go back to put your mug in the sink after your second cup (about two hours later), they're perfect.
The melting factor was always the bug issue with these so we always kept them in the freezer. I am also a bit surprised you didn't take them apart, that was always the most fun, splitting the wafers in the nutty bar, unrolling the swiss cakes and honey buns, and pulling the oatmeal and zebra cakes apart and seeing where the waxy coating and cream stayed. And you are definitely right about the honey buns and old people. I don't ever remember having those anywhere but Grandma's house :)
I couldn't agree more about the Swiss Rolls. Delicious and good for you (probably). I'm someone who peels the outer layer of chocolate off, and until I was about 33, I was skinnier. I was about 180lbs and I worked in retail so I walked probably 5 miles a day and lifted many heavy things (kinda like a workout). Anyhow, those and Fudge Rounds are my weakness. EDIT: Lifelong Braves fan!! Go Braves!!
Ain't nothing better than grabbing a Little Debbie snack and a Coke and sitting under a shade tree and savoring pure taste heaven! I do appreciate you risking Diabetes to make this ranking, but I would choose Zebra Cakes as #1.
Love the honey buns and cream pies!! Get a large honey bun and warm it up in a skillet just enough to caramelize the sugar and serve with butter on top! Good groceries to snack on.
Thank you, McKee Foods of Collegedale, Tennessee, for making all these fine, fattening products of deliciousness. Best BYR of them all, even with the opening mishap -- because Little Debbie > Hostess, and always will be. I'm on board with the six items chosen. I don't like them all, but they are the ones I consistently see the most at friends' and family places. My personal favorite are the Donut Sticks, preferably with a hot cuppa joe with cream in the morning.
Matt: "and I feel like you get more easier access to everything" Immediately following Matt: *box is ripped open because the perforated spot was too small and the double-cardboard end didn't tear off* Lol my thought process was exactly this when I saw the perforation and it didn't work for me either 🤣
I remember little Debbie had these vanilla and orange cakes back in the early 2000s, but they discontinued them. Still to this day whenever I see a display of Lil Debbie's I look for them cuz those babies were the best things ever
I'm pretty sure those are seasonal now. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty a grocery store i used to work at a couple years ago would sell them during spring or summer
LD's fudge brownies are my favorites: cheap, individually wrapped, and delicious. Oatmeal creme cookies were already a classic during my childhood but, a very yummy treat (no raisins nor marshmallow 😊). Best Honey Buns are from Mrs. Freshley's, period.
I fully acknowledge that cosmic brownies are kind of terrible but they’re perfect to keep around for when I’m craving something sweet because I’m not going to want to eat more than one and they’re filling enough to hold me over for a while if I don’t have time to rustle up some real food. They are a perfectly adequate emergency snack.

@@ItsaSouthernThing never. But how bout a breakdown of the 41. 6 here so 7 more episodes of 5. Then have the winners of wach episodes compete against each other. That is 8 in one episode, but I believe in Matt.
@@ItsaSouthernThing You can make it a team effort! Have you not seen Keith from Try Guys do Eat the Menu? He brings in their whole crew to help.
@@joeg8200 he ranked like 10 or 12 Christmas Little Debbie snacks though.
I agree the Christmas tree cake is definitely best ! We live in Chattanooga ten minutes from the Little Debbie store where they are made and we buy like 5 boxes every year !
You are the smartest man I’ve ever seen. You get paid to eat food and snacks. 😂
For once I actually agree and approve of your rating, Matt. Swiss Cake is the Champion! The cosmic brownies needs to go and be replaced with the fudge rounds. Just saying.
Wrong.
I have never had a Swiss cake yet that wasn’t dry and gross.
Fudge Rounds are where it is at!
Fudge rounds are definitely better than the brownie thing.
Fudge rounds or star crunch
I won't say it's the best, but i miss the apple spice cakes LD made when i was a kid. Very tasty and whenever I see a LD posting I bring it up, vainly hoping they'll come back.
My aunt used to work at Little Debbie in NW Arkansas when I was a kid. We’d go to visit her and she had a CUPBOARD full of LD’s. My mom was a crunchy mom so me and my brother would like LIVE in the cupboard for two weeks. Best memories ever, thanks for reminding me of it! 👍
What's a crunchy mom?
@@BarnacleBoy42069 Super healthy...no junk food allowed 😂
My grandmother used to hide Count Chocula cereal for me at her house so my mother wouldn't know. 😂
Matt "Mulder" with his in depth investigation with the zebra cakes and Christmas tree cakes compariso. :)
I agree the Christmas ones are better but just slightly. The bite diagram was sus though he kind of just added an extra bite to prove his point....lol
This is SO STUPID. Everyone knows the valentine hearts are the best, what even is wrong with you people?!
I really miss the Peanut Butter Bars. They were a shortbread cookie, topped with a strip of peanut butter, then coated with milk chocolate
Basically Twix without the caramel. But still good.
Sounds exactly like tagalong girl scouts (and alternatively walmart) sell
Me too!
Nutty Buddy is what my boyfriend calls me.
Honey Buns is what i call him.
Getting a Dollar General ad before watching this is just the cherry on top.
I just about agree completely with this ranking. Although, I would argue that the fall snack cakes are the superior seasonal little debbie. All the goodness of a Zebra Cake, but with chocolate frosting instead of vanilla.
No, no, no. The chocolate on the Zebra Cake is what ruins it. That's why Christmas Tree cakes are the most-est superior.
Nah, the orange zebra cakes are the best, at least I think they came in orange flavor at one point
Oatmeal cream pies are definitely more southern than “Swiss” cakes, and tastier. Plus, the oatmeal gives them a tiny bit of healthiness. So definitely number one! Sorry, you just made a mistake. We all do.
If only he would listen to reason!
Oatmeal cream pies are absolutely the best!
Yassss!
Facts
My dad and I used to like Cosmic Brownies, but somewhere along the way it seems like they changed something and now they don't taste nearly as good. My favorite non-seasonal Little Debbie treats are caramel cookie bars. It's like a larger Twix bar but better. And of course Christmas Tree Cakes are amazing.
I remember me and my grandmother having the Glazed Donut Sticks and coffee on the weekends :)
Donut Sticks are soooo good. I regret not ever trying them with coffee.
Donut sticks!!! 🤤
A snack named "Swiss Rolls" beat the all-American greatness that is Nutty Buddy? Turn in your Southern Card Matt.
This.
Same, surprised they aren't in the top 6 sellers
My cousin who didn't like chocolate turned me on to strawberry rolls. I'll still buy one when I want a bit of a sweet.
I like warming up the Honey Buns. Then grab some bacon jerky and sometimes hard boiled egg. BOOM you got a full breakfast from your local gas station . It’s like having pancake and eggs with bacon eaten by hand. So so good 😋🥰
I always like the Star Crunch cookies. Sad they didn’t make the list. 😂
Me too! Just said that in another comment. I know he said our favorite wouldn’t be there but I was a little surprised neither fudge round nor star crunch made the cut 🤷♀️ I guess our superior taste buds allow us to have the experience only the select few ever find. That being said, the OCP out of these should have won
Exactly! But the brownies, zebra things, and Swiss Rolls did? What?!
Ditto. Star Crunch would beat them all!
Yes! I really don't like the cake type lil debbies.. star crunch is def where it's at.
Star Crunch, fall party cakes, valentines cakes.... YUM!
Cosmic brownies are my favorites, don't know what ur on.
Cosmic brownies are significantly better, so other than being wrong… sure.
And cosmic brownies aren’t even very good, but they’re definitely better.
This comment took me on a journey, screw Tom, donuts forever! I hope this gets taken out of contact sometime later!
Out of these 6, I would put Oatmeal Creme Pies in first. My favorite LD, however, is the scrumptious Raisin Creme Pies. Something about the creme and the breading hits different. Sooo tasty, and I enjoy raisins, so it’s a win for me.
Oh, I've never had those!
I always loved the raisin Creme pies but I picked the raisins off. Oatmeal Creme and devils cakes are my favorite though.
Mmmm, I forgot about the raisin creme pies. They put oatmeal to shame.
You have to pick off and eat the rasins 1st

And now I am craving Swiss Cake Rolls. Thank you, Matt. ;-)
Apparently my household is single-handedly keeping the cosmic brownie brand alive. They go great with a glass of chocky milk
So its your fault he thinks those are better sellers than strawberry shortcake rolls. CUZ HOW ELSE?
the brownie chocolate is way better than the swiss roll chocolate. now if they rolled up a brownie with some cream....
@@shaolinotter ... whats going on with you? You alright? You need something?
Not here for the nutter butter blasphemy, but enjoying these videos! Great job Matt.
I love the peanut butter crunch bars
Same for me 👍
Growing up my dad's best friend was a Little Debbie Vendor and an antique/hotrod car collector.
I also agree OCPs should be first
Honorable mention, of the lesser known:
Banana Twins, Strawberry Shortcake rolls, and I liked those seasonal egg nog rolls (not sure if they still make them).
The Banana Twins have always had an offputting smell to me. The Boston Creme Rolls are amazing though.
Oatmeal pb&js man....
They will never be forgotten
Yes, the banana twins would be 3 rd behind OCP and NB. The pumpkin spice rool they have in the fall is nice too.
I like stale banana twin cakes. Open a pack when you're making coffee, and by the time you go back to put your mug in the sink after your second cup (about two hours later), they're perfect.
Those strawberry shortcake rolls are delicious.
Go Braves!!
I put my Swiss cake rolls in the freezer when summer rolls around!😋
Ain't nothing better than grabbing a Little Debbie snack and a Coke and sitting under a shade tree and savoring pure taste heaven! I do appreciate you risking Diabetes to make this ranking, but I would choose Zebra Cakes as #1.
I used to work in their corporate communications office. Great company to work for! Plus, there are always free Little Debbies in the break room!! 😋🍫😁
I could never work for them because I'd get fired for being in the break room. Lol
I'd weigh 800 pounds
So.... can you tell me why they completely abandoned the oatmeal pb&j pies?
Because that was my childhood... destroyed 😔
@Brie Fennell It's been 17 years since I worked there, so I don't have a clue how such a travesty happened. Very sorry for your loss. 😢
@@JodiLaRae so you were there during their boom! Must have been amazing
Love the honey buns and cream pies!! Get a large honey bun and warm it up in a skillet just enough to caramelize the sugar and serve with butter on top! Good groceries to snack on.
230 calories is enough for me, I like warming it in the microwave but adding butter seems egregious. Not bad, but like, damn. I have arteries.
and a glass of milk or a scoop of ice cream!
Maybe Matt should try the ice cream versions of the Little Debbie’s Snacks and rank them ❤️🍦💯.
ice cream version?!
Except when you smell the burnt brownies on your way to class 😂
Raisin Cream Pies are also good. Maybe not top 6 but good.
Although there have been many exquisite "Bless Your Rank"(s), this one is the best by far. There were so many gems crammed in 15 minutes.
Zebra cakes are best!! But frozen Star Crunches are a great summer treat if you have strong teeth. LOL
Matt: "and I feel like you get more easier access to everything"
Immediately following Matt: *box is ripped open because the perforated spot was too small and the double-cardboard end didn't tear off*
Lol my thought process was exactly this when I saw the perforation and it didn't work for me either 🤣
This is the video I was born for!! Before the video… Christmas tree cakes, I wait every year. Why the brownies? The worst 🤢
I watched this whilst consuming a Cosmic Brownie. Take that Mitchell!
I fully expect a sequel when some of the seasonal variations roll out in the fall.
Pumpkin Delights for the win.
@@spaceracer23 100% agreed, can’t go wrong with a portable pumpkin pie snack!
Swiss Rolls...when you absolutely, positively have to make the camera crew laugh. 😁
I find no fault with your ranking of Little Debbie snack cakes. Well done, Mathew, very well done.
Agreed!👍
I fully acknowledge that cosmic brownies are kind of terrible but they’re perfect to keep around for when I’m craving something sweet because I’m not going to want to eat more than one and they’re filling enough to hold me over for a while if I don’t have time to rustle up some real food. They are a perfectly adequate emergency snack.
