The Great Wilko. A truly one of a kind gunslinger and performer. No one had his tone and style of play. Great songwriter to boot.

My perfect set list!!!!
Simply put, this is a fantastic 66 minutes of pure jam.
The 1st time I saw Wilco was at the London Rock n Roll show at Wembley in the early 70s .
Wilko is great person, Once, year was 2005 i listened him in finland.
fab, same set as I used to watch in the Half Moon Putney
Wow - great video, thanks for this one! I like the way the guitar tone goes from mellow to twang on the very last chrod of Everybody's Carrying A Gun as Wilko flicks the pick up selector from neck to bridge!
excellent

It has made my night finding this, the master at his best, truly awesome. Thanks for sharing this.
Legend.
I was there. Co-headliner was Dr. Feelgood. Believe it or not.
Did Wilko sit in with them?
Try listening to mick green if you want to know where his style came from
Happy New Year 🌸
Great geeeetars Batman!!!!!!!
In his prime
Dr. Feel-good
listen to Charlie Croker and the Providers on you tube, The Croker, Can't get enough, Bubble car and others are top tracks
Tele's too clean on this one, needs more grit, Wilko !!!!!
Transistor amps. Can hear it on the bass too. They werre pushing them in those days
Wilko was made for tubes !!!!!
Gerber Bernstein He always used transistor amps back in the day which is what contributed to the particular sharpness of the "grit" in his tone - Specifically, he used a HH electronic IC100 with Dr Feelgood. His guitar sounds cleaner than normal here because the amp is a Roland JC-120, which is a naturally very very clean sounding amp.
I think Wilko's sound does seem to have got cleaner over the years. My favourite tone was when he used his HH IC100. He used to use the clean channel and make it drive by cranking it up, which is insane for that particular amp even set at the 'studio' output - I've got one!
His one though, had Gauss speakers in it when he bought it (as he told me), and I think that's the secret - it's 100 watt at four ohms (as HH speakers are wired) and I reckon whoever put the Gauss ones in wired it up as 8 or 16 ohms, which would cut the output considerably, so he could turn it up without blowing the back wall out of the venue. I checked my theory with Stewart Ward, who makes Session amps, and he said it's possible.
Wilko told me his one blew up and it's in a garage somewhere. I wish he'd dig it out and get it fixed!
superb guitarist but horrible singer.
You got the first two words right, but the rest needs some revision!
Haha well unfortunately for him everyone will compare him to the great Lee Brilleuix. Wilko was a decent backup for Dr Feelgood but yeah he should have found a lead singer. He's adequate but his main gig is the guitar where he's a genius.
