Amsterdam is and will always be my favourite Coldplay song. I had zero hopes that they'd play this song, so I just hoped Green Eyes would be played. But when Chris started talking and I heard they're were going to do Amsterdam... Man I was so happy. I had (slightly terrible) seats in the back, not a lot of people seemed to know this song and started talking while I used all the air in my lungs to sing along to this magnificent song!
I was on the floor, pretty close to the stage and everyone around me was quiet, in deep thought and some were singing along and crying. for real.. being able to hear this song live, on that day. wow! grateful I was there
Laila de Boer Oh I'm kinda jealous I must say haha. I almost teared up a bit, my friends didn't know the song either and didn't understand what I was so excited about. But nevertheless I was very happy to be one of the few to hear this song live!
this is definitely one of my fav coldplay songs. i wish they played it more often :( question about your seats- i really want to go to one of their shows but the only seats available are nosebleeds in the FAR far back and they're still $70 a piece, did you still have a great experience even though you were so far away?
I was also there, also had slightly terrible seats in the back. And I had the same feeling, like I was the only one who knew this song or even olders ones that we had the honer to listen to live, like don't panic ( Particularly because I am such a huge fan of Jonny, and I experinced Chris calling everyone's attention to the fact Jonny is shy and does not sing a lot by himself). I sang this along as loud as I could because it was majestic: Amsterdam in Amsterdam! I have been a fan for 12 years and it was the first time I could afford to see them live, it was so worth it. I am happy to know I was not alone and that there were a lot of us who knew these amazing older songs.
I love the message in this song, not to spend your life worrying about time and how much you have left, but to embrace every moment of your life and all the people you love.
this moment was legendary, probably the last time coldplay will play this song live. i feel blessed that i was able to enjoy this special moment. much love for coldplay
Its a shame coldplay couldn't get back to the sound of their first two records. A rush of blood to the head is one of the greatest albums and Amsterdam is one of my favorite songs in that record. Its impossible for me to believe that many people hate coldplay, this is music that is imposible not to be moved by it , and this is coming from a guy who likes heavy rock.
@rwg2626 we do have their early stuff but we could have more songs like that instead of their new Pop/dance songs obviously as a fan I still enjoy them but their new material sometimes feels a bit lazy in songwriting but it sill is Coldplay and does take you on a journey.
Agreed. I like a few songs here and there after the first two albums, but the first two are the only ones that I can listen from start to finish on repeat.
3:49 I'm always moved to tears at this part. It's like an emotional release. This still moves me the way it did the first time I heard it 14 years ago when I was in Grade 6. I cried at this part and I'm crying again now. Coldplay's songs are the embraces my child self never had when I felt I needed them most.
@@jodeciS thank you hehe I was 13 when I was in Grade 6... it was about the average age of students on our level. Actually, I think I was relatively younger then compared to my classmates because most of them were born about a year earlier
+adza botchway ok, that helps me a lot. Because Imagine Dragons also has a song called Amsterdam that has very little to do with Amsterdam, I have been extremely confused for years, and have been trying to figure out the the nonexistent deeper meaning of the name Amsterdam.
Wish they would do music as deep as this. Not same songs. But just the same source. Cuz nowadays it is sadly too generic. Though at least we have Everyday Life.
Hey Coldplay, us fans miss this type of music! The new stuff isn't bad, but its nothing compared to the emotion and talent of your old music. I was born with one hand and I have to say you 4 guys have changed my life. Your next album should be a throwback to the old stuff like X & Y and Rush of Blood - Everyone would love it!

And I swerve out of control
If I, if I'd only waited
I'd not be stuck here in this hole
Come here, oh my star is fading
And I swerve out of control
And I swear I waited and waited
I've got to get out of this hole
But time is on your side
It's on your side now
Not pushing you down and all around
It's no cause for concern
Come on, oh my star is fading
And I see no chance of release
And I know I'm dead on the surface
But I am screaming underneath
And time is on your side
Is on your side, It's on your side now
Not pushing you down, and all around
No it's no cause for concern
Stuck on the end of this ball and chain
And I'm on my way back down again
Stood on a bridge, tied to the noose
Sick to the stomach
You can say what you mean
But it won't change a thing
I'm sick of the secrets
Stood on the edge, tied to the noose
You came along and you cut me loose
You came along and you cut me loose
You came along and you cut me loose

My favourite song of the band. A piece of pure art
I admittedly just discovered this song today as a long-time Coldplay fan. Have it playing on repeat while studying for my o chem midterm at 12:30 AM lol
I wish and I hope one day I will see this amazing band live...love you Chris!
a melhor banda sem dúvidas
Love this song! Thanks Coldplay by gifting us with your talent and wonderful music! In Rio, I realized the dream of my life, which was to hear my favorite song (fix you) live for the first time! This song helped me at a time in which no one or nothing could do it, so thank you guys for being part of my life for the last 7 years and continue to be 💙
