As you may or may not know Count Arthur is an honorary member of the Saint Annes Jombulance Brigade. "Oh yes, I try to do my best for them" says Count Arthur. "Many is the time that Akela has asked me to help sell copies of the War Cry for them during bob-a-job week". What a trooper, I really do.

Count Arthur: comic of the decade and probably a lot longer than that.

Count Arthur Strong brilliant and can be enjoyed on many levels.
As for the dislike brigade it's probably because they really haven't got a grasp of the send up which is one of the levels, in the same way Python used the public school upbringing and applied it in away to show absurdity of it all.. An example of this is Arthur doing a lecture which includes the garden of Eden. He qualifies his knowledge of the types and mounts of fruits from is associate that drinks at his local, a fruit and veg man established 1963 and is an expert in the field.
It's important to have even here an understanding of the world around us.
    Fantastic character

Very un P C , my kind of comedian, love the language and posh accent.
The mis -pronounced words, characters and situations are totally believable.
I especially love the 2 teas & book review, brilliant concept side splitting with laughter.

Much more funny on radio. Unlike Hancock's Half Hour this has not transferred well to TV

I tend to agree. The radio shows are high comedy, perhaps some of the finest of its kind since Hancock. Steve Delaney co-wrote the television series with Graham Lineham, and they changed Arthur's personality somewhat. Made him a bit less acerbic and irascible. I guess they had their reasons for doing this. Lineham is a very experienced, and very fine, television writer, (Father Ted etc).

I could never connect with the TV episodes... it seemed like traditional humour was trying to gel with Steve Delaneys abstract and out of the box humour; result; huge clash! Steve's humour had made a path of it's own and was refusing to be tied down with old won out concepts! Perhaps it's not too late to have another go at this... but the lead should be taken by Steve Delaney's odd-ball outlook and not try to constrain it to convention! "I am the receptionist!" :))

I disagree... I thought the TV series was better than radio... As you see, there is a large visual element to Count Arthurs humour...
