His dad wasn't good, but still tried his best to raise him the best way he thought necessary under the circumstances. Still scummy but he tried, flimsy as that excuse is.
In the flashback, Broly had a calm nature, responding to Paragus' actions at night: "Father, what are you doing?" But this only showed how Broly no longer accepts the fact that Paragus is his own father. The way how he asks Paragus on where he's going hints how Broly sees Paragus as an obstacle that would keep interfering with his power. At that point, Broly no longer thinks Paragus is his own father but rather a waste of Saiyan blood to dispose of. "Where do you think you're going... DAD???"

That was a scary shot at 0:24. Broly's reflection in the pod's window and the look of fear on Paragus's face. He pretty much sealed his own fate here by trying to escape on his own.
Being crushed has to be one of the most excruciating ways to go. At least in this manner that is so slow compared to being quickly flattened by a falling object. Paragus definitely had some broken bones and that's nothing to sneeze at, especially if there were any limbs, particularly the femur.
This scene is chilling for one other reason outside of how brutally he killed his father, and that's just how deep Broly's senses and hearing is. "Did you really think I would die just because this planet is about to explode?" He heard every word his father said from far away and even gave him a chance to redeem himself before hearing that sorry excuse. This version of Broly is insanely evil, smart, and his abilities to read people and hear from a distance is off the chain. That's truly scary af.

In addition, it would take a lot of force to crush a fully grown Saiyan's body like that, seeing as how Saiyans bone structures and muscles can withstand super high gravity.

But this only showed how Broly no longer accepts the fact that Paragus is his own father. The way how he asks Paragus on where he's going hints how Broly sees Paragus as an obstacle that would keep interfering with his power. At that point, Broly no longer thinks Paragus is his own father but rather a waste of Saiyan blood to dispose of.

"Did you really think I would die just because this planet is about to explode?" He heard every word his father said from far away and even gave him a chance to redeem himself before hearing that sorry excuse. This version of Broly is insanely evil, smart, and his abilities to read people and hear from a distance is off the chain. That's truly scary af.

Broly is a monster!! Crushing that space pod and hurling it into outer space is a pretty impressive feat. Consider how durable that ship must be to withstand crashing into planets at thousands of miles per hour upon landing. Not only that, it must weigh a few tons. In addition, it would take a lot of force to crush a fully grown Saiyan's body like that, seeing as how Saiyans bone structures and muscles can withstand super high gravity.
