Austin, Texas is also one of the rare liberal bastions in the state, so things tend to just be better and less demoralizing if you're not white, cisgender, and/or heteronormative. Bojangles has pretty good fried chicken for a fast-food restaurant. Hardees/Carl's Jr. also used to have good fried chicken, but I haven't tried theirs in over two decades, so no idea if it's still any good. I just like Bojangles because their chicken is cajun-spiced, so it has flavor besides flour and three different preparations of black pepper. They also have pretty good biscuits and their sides aren't terrible either. Like, sure their mashed potatoes are instant, but they have sausage gravy and that covers many sins.
