Pincushion distortion is a thing eh. I guess I agree, the resolution could highly improve the picture when you destretch the image during editing. I like it that insta constantly improves their products with mostly very useful things. What about the stability? Are you happy with it?
Insta360 is sending me the X4 to review and I was wondering what accessories you’d recommend? Using for MTB footage of course. Does it come with the wind muffs?
That integration with the data analytics from the watch is a sweet feature. A few years ago Dale did a few videos where he jerry-rigged something similar, but I understand it was a lot of work. Heart rate integration was especially cool. Personally, I really like the perspective these 360 cameras offer, especially when on the steeps. I know some people get annoyed with peripheral distortion, but that doesn’t bug me personally. On that front, if I’m not mistaken, it seems that the peripheral distortion is lessened with this new model… would you agree? Or does is it just that it doesn’t bother me?
Can we zoom in on the timeline in the desktop app yet? That's been a pain point for me when I record long segments and want to pick out bite-sized clips.
how did you attach the mount to the top of your Fox helmet? I have the same helmet and there is not enough surface to stick the basic attachment Thanks
@@VanCan on mine I don't have enough room to stick it entirely on the helmet, because it protrudes into one of the helmet's vents, and therefore does not stick to the entire surface of the clip Do you have a photo of your setup? I'm afraid it won't hold enough for the the unicorn mount
does the horizon lock work better on this then the X3? on the X3 I had to make tons of waypoints when doing switchbacks where on the go pro max I never have to adjust past one way point
Seems to be in that I do the same thing with the X4 as I did with the X3. That is, I usually find the angle I want near the beginning of the clip, but a keyframe there, then export.
What sd card do you use i tried buying the 1 tb amazon brand says it has all the same specs as the insta 360 one but when i go to edit it takes a while to load and skips
Ive been looking forward to this kind of update in the 360 space. How does it do in low light for riding. Something more typical of North Shore riding. I never use my One X for riding because the low light performance is not good. Im south of the border from you so i often get similar lighting conditions. Grey gloomy days in the woods. Its tough to shoot in those conditions, but my other action game does just fine.
OK I’m gonna start by saying I liked your video button liking your video. I saw the little picture on the screen it looked like it was a guy with a catchers mask on. I thought I was gonna get to see 8K 360 breaking balls or curveballs or knuckleballs I didn’t get that I got a guy riding a bicycle made my hind end pucker! OK that’s all forgiven because it was a really cool video I did subscribe and I don’t do that nilly Willy ?? But I still really want to see one attached to a catchers mask don’t even have to be a good picture just saying. Lol? Sorta. Thanks 🙏
I just play around with it on the desktop app with no specific setting. Something like 80 degrees and 0.7 distortion but again I’ll change it drastically if I find something else I like.
I wasnt impressed with the stabilization on the x3. bounced around a lot MTBing especially on rough trails. GoPro does better job for stabilizing. It's too bad because I like the x3 form factor better
its like a goatee beard for your helmet. why they cant just make it a tiny cube makes 0 sense. the hero 4 session was the closest thing to a minimalist helmet cam.
Unpopular question: is ruining the quality of your footage, and thus your channel, worth the sponsorship? Let's be honest, this is nowhere near the quality of a GoPro or any other decent traditional action camera. It's actually a bit awkward and tiring to watch long-term. I agree 360 cams are cool and have their uses, but frankly, biking looks like the worst application for them. There is barely any advantage to 360 footage, and the quality in high-contrast forests is just painful. The dynamic range and all the beautiful lighting you can get in the forest are actually detrimental to these cams. And I'm saying that after actually buying the X4 and trying it myself. I'll probably keep it for skiing and experiments, but I'm not impressed so far.
Check out the prime day sales! www.insta360.com/big-deal-days?from=store&INRG1IG
Man, some awesome footage here 🔥 Thanks so much for giving X4 real MTB treatment!
yea
Its not an action cam. You know why? The lenses are absurdly fragile.
Wow! That footage is looking CRISP. They did a great job with this one.
Highest bit rate is a massive improvement
What I'm hearing is there's prolly a sale on the X3😂
Killer footy dawg, much love from PA!
Sick camera, and it makes such raw riding clips.
Yeah Nick even though I haven’t got one of these cameras they make your videos so good I bet GoPro Wondering What are we doing wrong 😂😂

Probably best all around camera now, love it.
Thanks for the info! Buying one!

Hm. This looks very interesting. I will give video quality, colors and dynamic range a closer inspection when I can get one.
Lets be clearer than the footage - YOU'RE A SICK MTN BIKER!!
Would love some 120fps slow mo 360 - was hoping this would do it.
I've always wanted a nokia phone attached to my chin

With more resolution you can crop in a bit more
And reduce the distortion, which is what I’ve done a bit more in this video
We need a good method and video on how to mount the 360 with a selfie stick like on a motorbike but on a mountain bike.
The bike kit comes with a very good handle bar mount. I’ll try and post something!
Hi, what is that magentic mount? I just got my insta 360 and love to try it like you have it setup,
Which accessories are used to mount the camera on the chin of a helmet? I can't seem to locate them.
Can we zoom in on the timeline in the desktop app yet? That's been a pain point for me when I record long segments and want to pick out bite-sized clips.
I think this has been available for a while
Do you have a full video shot with x4 ? I usually don’t like 360 cameras but this one looks very crisp
I’ll be posting one soon
What magnetic mount you got? i bought one on amazon but is not compatible with x4 :(
Right from Insta360! Check the link in the description and head over to accessories
Does dji mic 2 work with x4 via Bluetooth?
where can you get the chin mount ?
how did you attach the mount to the top of your Fox helmet?
I have the same helmet and there is not enough surface to stick the basic attachment
Thanks
Just with a slightly rounded sticky mount I got off Amazon
@@VanCan on mine I don't have enough room to stick it entirely on the helmet, because it protrudes into one of the helmet's vents, and therefore does not stick to the entire surface of the clip

@@onk1 what is the name of that mount ?
We have 4k TV's barely. Pls stap 😂
*Edit, oh I see, now that I watched I get the ability to reframe is a huge thing, I'm a rider not a filmmaker 😅
Did you do the race you mentioned in this video? Cannot see any video about a race
I’ve been hurt :( but hopefully I’ll make the next one soon
does the horizon lock work better on this then the X3? on the X3 I had to make tons of waypoints when doing switchbacks where on the go pro max I never have to adjust past one way point
I usually only use one or a few keyframes with direction lock.
@@VanCan is it the same for the X3 and X4?

the X4 is much better than the one X in low light. The wood skinny clips are in Squamish and that forest is relatively dark.
Love the insta footage but man they're way too big in the wrong way
How do you keep the weight of the camera from pulling your helmet forward and down?

What settings you running mate? Ive picked one up the other day but not that impressed with it. I think it looka grainy
8k. 30fps. Low sharpness. Standard colour. -0.7ev.
@@VanCan I will give it a go thanks. Do you use the premium lens guards?
Nope

the footage at 5:29 don't look too good , its like grainy and flat , what happened ?
Make sure you’re watching in 4K

First impression is an obvious wow it looks great. Sick quality. But just too big and weird.
It literally fits in the palm of your hand, and that's too big?
The formfactor isn’t great, again…
