I think maybe I'm the only commenter here who enjoys the theme, the names, and I don't care about 2 vs 3 coats because I always do 3 very thin coats of polish. And I love frost and pearl finishes!! Thanks for getting this review up so early for us, Janixa, so we can make budgeting and buying decisions for summer 2023.

I love this entire collection and especially how they dry down to the semi-matte finish which I like! Such gorgeous colors for the Summer! I love a pearl finish which is a nice change from all the glitter-flakey bombs that I am so burnt out on. I really didn't see this collection as all being 3-coaters 😊
I'm one of those who really likes pearl-finish polishes, especially in modern colors and I really like this collection (except for the nude one...too old-fashioned) as a whole. I don't mind 3 coats, especially as I suspect the chemistry of getting pigments to dry to a satin, semi-matte finish is the reason for this and may be unavoidable. I'm definitely picking up Sunscreening My Calls, Skate To The Party, Charge It To Their Room, I'm Yacht Leaving, & Summer Mondays-Fridays. Great video as always, Janixa and I really appreciate you getting it up so fast. I've been waiting to see these since PolishPick posted them.
I dunno man, a lot of mainstream brands have been kinda slippin' lately. Both OPI and China Glaze have failed to wow me this season, and Orly played it safe this year with their pastels this spring. Ho hum!

Pretty collection, don't mind using 3 coats especially since I have shorter nails and want the color to be a little deeper in color. Don't mind pearl finish nail polish is sometimes use them as accent nail, when using just plain color polish.
I know how you felt about that peach pearl one, but honestly - it looked lovely against your complexion :) I love pearl finishes, I think there's something cool about vintage and sometimes I just want to rock a low-key look.

Totally agree that cremes should be 2 coats max these days, these kind of disappoint me. Plus I’m not really a pearl fan. I really miss the travel collections too. Those were great and how I got into OPI to be honest.

I was super excited for the teal and the lime green shades when I saw the promo pic for these (as the Spring Essie was too "dirty yellow" with my skin tone, and the OPI Nature Strong Cactus What You Preach stained my nails) , but 3 coats for creams just sounds like such a chore🥲. "Summer Fridays" is a benefit some companies have where u can leave the office early (or just get the whole day off) on fridays in summer, so i think the name "summer monday-fridays" is a play on that :)
When I was working in the late 1990's we couldn't have Ot so we took the time off on Fridays! That made it really nice for those of us that were dept heads but would also hurt the rest of the store on fridays!
I do 3 coats on every polish I do, no matter what. So the coats are not a problem. I hate the pearlized polish. Ick, lol. I do love both the cream pinks and the cream purple tho.❤ Thank you for this video. I appreciate you 😊
These pearlescents definitely work for me--okay, maybe because I am old!--and I'll gladly do three coats with these pearlescents if that brings out a beautiful finish. It's the creams in this collection that are looking ordinary to me. Really, really pretty but so many other brands--either affordable or more expensive--have these or similar kinds of colors. I will say, though, that if I had to put four coats on, I'd probably lose my mind! 😂
Tfs! That chartreuse polish is screaming my name! I like some colors when they are pearlized so... Also, regarding the need for 3 coats: I wonder if some brands are using components different from their old formulas which affects the polishing experience 🤔

LAColors has a new line called Let’s Get Wild. It’s absolutely amazing, self leveling, bright summer colors. It’s what these collections from OPI and China Glaze are missing. I’d love to see your take and hear your opinion on them.

You saved me some money! Quite pretty but too much work! I’ve been gravitating away from OPI anyway bc they stubbornly WON’T update their brush and I prefer the brands that have the wider brushes (Morgan Taylor, Orly, Essie, Olive & June)

Janixa, what's up with Revlon? Nobody reviews them? I go back to their classic days (1970s or so, when I was in college, changing nail colors every night!), and I suddenly realized that I miss all that. I visited their website--they still have Cherries in the Snow!--and I'd love to find a place in NYC where I can find the polishes, as I prefer that to buying online. Any thoughts about the possibility of talking about Revlon in your videos? Or is this a brand people have left behind? I realize they have a cute new line, but I love the old bottles--have a strong sense memory of them---and their colors.
Personally, I don't mind doing 3 coats. I'd rather do 3 thin coats than 2 thick ones. I assume the polishes in this collection are thinner than the usual OPI formulation due to the neon pigment that also makes them dry matte. tbh, I love all the colors on you. I, personally, feel that the numerous Essie collections outputs have other labels pushing out more without a lot of thought, other than meeting/beating Essie’s output. I do like short nail swatches. Your nails look best squared off…even short!

Darn it, OPI, why? China Glaze is sucking lately, too. I haven't bought any of their new polishes this year, and only bought a couple OPI xmas polishes from last year, after Kelly Marissa did a recent video, about them being magnetic. I have a lot of polish. So, I'm now much more selective. Plus, I normally have long nails. I just don't want any more 3 coat polishes. 😕
These huge collections are ridiculous to me. It makes the themes unwieldy and too many similar colors in one set. I was a die hard mainstream nail polish junkie but I now find myself turning to the indie polishes releasing 3 or 5 piece collections that are so much better. I guess that’s not a bad thing!!! I like all the colors except for the pearlized purple. I don't like that you have to use so many coats, though. The names are bland. They aren't witty, which to me seems like they were trying to do. Great swatches! 😊 I love polish pick, too. 😁
This is a big “womp-womp” from me. I’m ok with it though cause OPI is still not cruelty free, so I’m happy when they don’t make colors I feel like I need lol

Is it just me or is it hard to keep up with all these collections? I feel like companies drop a summer collection when Spring just started! I wish they'd wait until the last week of Spring or first week of Summer. I feel like I don't get to enjoy holidays like Christmas the same way because holiday collections get released sooo damn early, like before the weather has even cooled down. The beauty market is so oversaturated with products that I've found myself not buying anything new because nothing is exciting anymore.
The 90s inspiration is so strong this year and they just come out with 80s shades? Their marketing team seem... I went back and watched their trailer for Me Myself and OPI, I'm convinced this company is run by frat bros with a degree in industrial engineering.
I would have to say about 98% of my polishes require 3 coats to get a true color. I hold my palm up toward a light and if I can still see through the polish, it needs another coat.
I expected more from this brand, this is not some unknown brand of nail polish, but three coats is too much, they should have a better formula, they are expensive in my country! I hate pearl polishes too 😃
I wonder if OPI has had to get rid of certain ingredients from their products because they’re harmful for whatever reason. That would explain why it takes three coats. Maybe they just haven’t found an alternative to whatever they are leaving out. What about a ridge filler? Some of those are milky in appearance and they make your nails smoother. Maybe those under the pearly colors would help
I love the color story of this collection, but your criticisms are super valid. I don't understand why this collection has so many 3 coaters. I'll still pick up some since I LOVE the colors and personally don't hate doing 3 coats, although 2 is preferable.
Yeah, you're probably right. The formula is not that great because both China Glaze and OPI summer collection are a total disappointed. I think the yellow one is very difficult to work with. They're very streaky and kind of little patchy. Some of the collection remind me of the summer collection from last year. The finish are matte or semi-matte. I'm gonna to pass on the collection. I think OPI needs to updated the brushes. Most of the mainstream brands like Essie, Sally Hansen, Orly, and Morgan Taylor are playing safe. Thank you for your honest reviews.
As much as I love OPI and I want them to do well, I really hope these pearly polishes aren’t selling well because that just a finish that I can’t get behind and I want them to stop making them. I’ll probably just be picking up Charge It to Their Room. Also, this theme makes zero sense to me.

The last Collection i bought was the malibu. They do not do neons well. Orly has great great Neons from years ago which i prefer much more over those. The last releases of opi where very dissapointing to me

When I then consider that for me in Switzerland Opi is as expensive as a polish I order with PPU including its shipping the three coats get even more disappointing. In person, you can clearly see dark spots or streaks after two coats on almost all of these but if you don’t mind that, you’ll be good!

The OPI has a tiny bit more white in it. Lena looks a tad darker. I’d choose Lena between the two based on formula.

I have a lot of polish. So, I'm now much more selective. Plus, I normally have long nails. I just don't want any more 3 coat polishes. 😕

These huge collections are ridiculous to me. It makes the themes unwieldy and too many similar colors in one set. I was a die hard mainstream nail polish junkie but I now find myself turning to the indie polishes releasing 3 or 5 piece collections that are so much better. I guess that’s not a bad thing!!! I’d like to see OPI split their collections. Release 8 6 piece collections instead of 4 12 piece collections.

I like all the colors except for the pearlized purple. I don't like that you have to use so many coats, though. The names are bland. They aren't witty, which to me seems like they were trying to do. Great swatches! 😊 I love polish pick, too. 😁
In person you could see some dark streaks. That’s why I went in for a third coat.
I do like summer M-F. Sorry to see they dont self level.

The colors are beautiful and they all looked great on you! However it’s very disappointing that almost all were 3 coaters and even 4. I couldn’t agree with you more, they should have it down 2 coats as long as they have been in business their formulas should be good! Makes me wonder if they are just being cheap. Idk
I mean, I know lighter colors usually need more than 2 coats but not all of these should!

Is it just me or is it hard to keep up with all these collections? I feel like companies drop a summer collection when Spring just started! I wish they'd wait until the last week of Spring or first week of Summer. I feel like I don't get to enjoy holidays like Christmas the same way because holiday collections get released sooo damn early, like before the weather has even cooled down. The beauty market is so oversaturated with products that I've found myself not buying anything new because nothing is exciting anymore.

I would have to say about 98% of my polishes require 3 coats to get a true color. I hold my palm up toward a light and if I can still see through the polish, it needs another coat.
I don’t have the same experience. Most polishes nowadays don’t requiere three coats. Many are opaque in just one coat.
I expected more from this brand, this is not some unknown brand of nail polish, but three coats is too much, they should have a better formula, they are expensive in my country! I hate pearl polishes too 😃

I wonder if OPI has had to get rid of certain ingredients from their products because they’re harmful for whatever reason. That would explain why it takes three coats. Maybe they just haven’t found an alternative to whatever they are leaving out. What about a ridge filler? Some of those are milky in appearance and they make your nails smoother. Maybe those under the pearly colors would help

I love the color story of this collection, but your criticisms are super valid. I don't understand why this collection has so many 3 coaters. I'll still pick up some since I LOVE the colors and personally don't hate doing 3 coats, although 2 is preferable.
Colors are so nice! Having to do three coats is a bummer. Not a deal breaker, but a bummer.

Yeah, you're probably right. The formula is not that great because both China Glaze and OPI summer collection are a total disappointed. I think the yellow one
is very difficult to work with. They're very streaky and kind of little patchy. Some of the collection remind me of the summer collection from last year. The finish are matte or semi-matte. I'm gonna to pass on the collection. I think OPI needs to updated the brushes. Most of the mainstream brands like Essie, Sally

As much as I love OPI and I want them to do well, I really hope these pearly polishes aren’t selling well because that just a finish that I can’t get behind and I want them to stop making them. I’ll probably just be picking up Charge It to Their Room. Also, this theme makes zero sense to me.

What is going on with OPI lately?! Their polishes have been complete garbage! Another pass, there are so many other brands out there who make gorgeous polishes that deserve my money. OPI has been a joke.

Jellies are usually polishes that translucent or don’t build up to complete opacity.
Yuck! LOL There are so many ways to make polishes shimmer and sparkle. Why do brands do the pearl finish? Let it fade into the past....let it die LOL I'm 58 BTW.

The last Collection i bought was the malibu. They do not do neons well. Orly has great great Neons from years ago which i prefer much more over those. The last releases of opi where very dissapointing to me
Thanks for your review, I appreciate your live swatches and your honest opinion very much. I couldn‘t agree more that I love the color selection but the formulas really look disappointing. When I then consider that for me in Switzerland Opi is as expensive as a polish I order with PPU including its shipping the three coats get even more disappointing. And these pearlized finish is a ghost hunting me from the past - I didn‘t like it then, I don‘t like it now 🫣

I feel on the fence too. The colors are pretty but I don’t reach for three coat polishes very often.
