My favourite Nirvana song. That bass line is just one of the best of all time

I was a teenager when Nirvana were at their height. They came to play at the Brixton Academy and stayed in a house in Clapham. I was 13 and doing boxing training with my friends, we would warm up beforehand by running around the block. I actually bumped in to all three of them 😳

I froze like a deer in the head lights. They were unloading equipment and their stuff. Kurt said “hey kid” and I really don’t remember anything else as I was in shock

Also my favorite Nirvana song. It just rolls along in a happy sound with disturbing lyrics.

My favorite song on this album, the slow build until Kurt just rips his vocals for the climax of this song is awesome.

Knowing you love metal, if you want to see Nirvana go in REALLY hard check out "Breed: Live at the Paramount" - controlled chaos and Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) shines on the drums. Another 90s band that was super hard especially early on is Nine Inch Nails - cannot recommend checking them out enough. "Head Like a Hole" or "March of the Pigs" would be great starting points.

Cool vid! A rare pick. Quality. I actually got to see Nirvana in concert for their in utero tour back when I was 13. Greatest memories! If you like intense sounding stuff I’d recommend “Wish” by Nine inch Nails if you haven’t checked em out or reacted to them yet. I used to love fast intense paced stuff back then so maybe you’ll like their sound too. I still love fast intense stuff but don’t know new bands 😂 maybe u can let us know of some new bands that us older farts would like I dunno just an idea haha

This album was released at the beginning of my Senior year of high school and it always transports me back to that period in time. This one, Metallica’s black album, and Soundgarden’s Bad Motor Finger were all released around the same time and I love them all.
Since you’re into Death Metal, you might like Obituary, Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Nile, Death, Malevolent Creation, Monstrosity (Corpsgrinder from Cannibal Corpse first band), Opeth, Amon Amarth, Dismember, and At The Gates. Cool to hear you’re into Cannibal Corpse. I was in a couple of Death Metal bands in the 90s and could recommend a ton more.

Kid..? You just gave me hope for the future. When you’re ready for it and want to explore true raw punk.. check out Fugazi (thirteen songs) but you gotta be ready to listen to some real punk. It’s one of the best albums ever created.

I’m swelling with pride for your new-found killer musical rabbit holes! Rock on, Cadence!
I work at a cool record store and it makes my day to talk to so many gen-z & gen-alphas about this kind of music. It’s a blast! They love all my suggestions and we talk about what concerts they’re going to, ex:The Cure, Molchat Doma, Metallica, Pearl Jam, and so many others.
    Rock is safe! Thank GOD!

I was about your age when I really got into Nirvana. Great choice of song , this one's my favorite by them. I see you already did You Know You're Right so I'd suggest Very Ape if you haven't heard it. As for metal definitely check out The Heretic Prevails by Shadow of Intent, insane vocals on that one.

For your heavy metal palate: I highly recommend Revocation. They're under the radar of many people, but they've released the most solid albums I've ever listened to, most recent one being Netherheaven 6 months ago. They're also good buddies with your boys in Cannibal Corpse ;) Dave who's lead guitar and vocalist is a graduate of Berklee with lots of influence of jazz in his solos, so, some of the most unique and interesting out there. I recommend Nihilistic Violence or Diabolical Majesty off their latest as a start. Dave is the most inspiring guitarist in my opinion.

So good to see that some of the young generation still dig great music and haven't bought into so much of the garbage - vulgar, rotten, artless. soul destroying garbage as well that they pump out these days. My daughter is 18 and thankfully she inherited most of my taste in music and not her mother's (trust me, you don't want to know!). It shows that if young ppl are introduced to this great music they will appreciate it as well. But they are flooding the music industry with garbage and putting what are at best very generic average artists on a pedestal as if it were somehow great art. I hope the young kids of today have a big kick back against all the mainstream mediocrity of our times and produce something new and distinctive of their own when they are old enough. It's exactly how it was in the mid 70s when the mainstream radio play music was dire, and that's what led to the whole punk scene. Basically young ppl who didn't want to listen to brotherhood of man or disco or one of far too many novelty records. I think in about 10-15 years we are gonna see some really great new music coming from all these kids who now can't relate to Sam Smith or ariana grande or lil this and lil that etc. I suspect your dad may have played a part in your musical education and he's doing a fine job. Look after him cause nobody will ever care about you more than your parents.

If you like death metal, you should try Gorguts, specifically the song Obscura. When it came out, it revolutionized the genre and created the new "dissonant" death metal sound! Its a great track for a reaction, because... well... that would ruin it wouldn't it! Give it a try, young metalhead!
